By the time Elvis sang this in concert, one could hear the influence of the multiple medications he was taking in the slurred words & imprecise phrasing. It's a shame because freed of these influences his voice was exquisite. Jimmie and Elvis were good friends & E used to come in to watch Jimmie perform in nightclubs. He loved Rodgers' voice.

as big a fan as i am i gotta admit i saw this concert and didnt think much of it, he forgot the words he looks like he just woke up from a nap at the beginning his voice cracked during songs and he forgot the words sometimes. i dont think he really wanted to a rehearsel concert any thoughts

@TheJoec2005 many think the rehearsal was better than the actual show. I would have to see the whole thing again before really commenting. What little I've seen lately, of the rehearsal show, shows he is relaxed and having fun with the audience. Watch the expressions on his face as he's singing.......priceless.

Elvis vocally was in better form during the rehearsal show. Just wish that he had performed a bit more Rock "N" Roll....and more of his "own" hits. This was such an important show for him and for his fans world wide. A World or European Tour by 1973 was never going to happen. This was "IT" I believe that the show should have been more "Elvis Presley" ie "That`s The Way It Is".

they also recorded this rehearsal concert incase something happened to the live sattelite broadcast.i have the rehearsal and the sattelite concert on dvd and think the rehearsal had a better look and better sound than the sattelite concert.and elvis seemed more relaxed and moved more

@BWEE1000 elvis aloha from hawaii deluxe edition dvd. it actualy has the rehearsal,the sattelite concert the usa saw and the version the rest of the earth saw.the usa version was shown weeks after the rest of the earth saw it.they added extra songs to the taped usa telecast that elvis did alone on stage at the end of the rehersal concert with no audiance.they recorded these andded them to the usa version.blue hawaii,hawaiian wedding song,kuiipo,and early morning rain.

Elvis actually did this song in the summer of '71 in Tahoe . It's easily 1 of my faves from 1971. I want to dedicate it to my GORGEOUS , BEAUTIFUL Sattnin' , Javlynn Sue in Lyndhurst , Ohio. I miss U , Mopar Tim.

this was not a Rehearsal , it was live , Elvis made more then 12 concerts in 1 week ..... during the Aloha from Hawai concert.. He will always be the king

@pelvis30 ... nothing actually went out live. There was a delay of several hours for America. The superbowl was on the same day and that got the airing! I mean to put the superbowl above Elvis is a weird decision in my opinion. They aired it later that evening when the footy was over!
