Cruelty and the Beast is my absolute favorite Cradle album (and I have every one they've done to date). The songs Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids (on this video) and Bathory Aria are absolute masterpieces.

The thing is in the 90s COF had all the theatrics, style, aesthetic etc..it was like going to see an opera if you saw them in the mid to late 90s.

Then they became this seedy act with naked leather clad women in cages etc, that to me was the demise.

I think they're still making decent music. Hell, even Thornography had one or two good songs on it. They'd be criticized for being too samey if they just carried on what they were doing in the 90s, so they can't win really!
