@lukemanify i remember mowing grass in jr high, and a neighbor gave me an old mix tape he had, first three cuts: there goes another love song, hurry sundown, green grass and high tides, been a fan ever since
Seen them in june '77 at the infamous Hollywood Sportatorium open up for BadCo on the Running with the pack tour. The Outlaws stole the show imo and to this day are one of my favorates. Looking back on that show 35 years later who would have thought they'd still be everything today they were then when so many great bands of that era arent even remembered. We who seen them live in the "good ole days" dare I say it where truly blessed and can walk down memory lane. thanks for sharing this with us.
Saw the Outlaws in 1981 with Molly Hatchet. Molly Hatchet opened and just blew us away. Then the Outlaws came on and it just got better. This is the music of my life.
Went to HS in 73 joined the Navy in 77 and was from Tampa also, Florida had the greatest bands of the 70's, Skynyrd, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet need I list the others? or is that enough? :)
I lived through the seventies. For every killer guitar rock song like this there were a couple of disco abominations or several glam rock gender-bending atrocities. Thank God we had music like this to turn to.
the best years for music/drugs/sports/movies was circa 1964'- 1980' give or take... then it fizzled out!....miss drive-in movie's, pull top beer cans, 40$ lid's...
@klimber1000 yea klimber we that grew up in that era that was great in music and dont know how lucky we actually was, a hell of a lot better time than today!!!!
I saw the outlaws up in Radford,va at the River festival in 1980 and saw this chick take off her top to this song...It had a lasting impression to say the least
i am 12 and i love old music and wish kids would stop listning to all the new shit oult their and start to atleast appricate 70 music or better start listning to it
@half1962 Ah! Another mesc AND music lover! My nickname was Lady Mesc. These musicians (and ones like them) really meant it when they sang and played.
this reminds me of my dad =) he played a tape of the outlaws when i was 12 and i LOVED it! a month later he bought me my own copy we had very little money when i was young but he still said it was a "needed item".
I'm 16 and I literally discovered this band today. This kinda makes me with I grew up in the 70's. I love this band and to hell with what any of my friends (who are into more 'modern' music) think about it.
Lynyrd Skynyrd was "The Beginning"....Followed by "The Outlaws"..."The Rossington Collins Band"...What a talented group of musicians that brought upon us enjoyment and a form of music never to be repeated again.
@shadetheman117 I wish you could have seen this band in their prime, they were awesome. unfortunatly, all you saw was a cover band doing their songs. Other than, maybe, Henry Paul, there hasn't been an original member in some years. P.S. Total respect for you being into this music at your age.
hair as black as darkness and eyes of emerald green ooh she loved to sing. hmm? Me? Forget Amazing Grace. Throw my ashes over the plains and play this song,.
Definatley one of the most underrated bands of all time, I saw them for the first time last year, and after all these years they still sound fantastic, I got chills the whole concert. I just wish I coulda seen them in like the 70's and 80s, I love this song
Loved the Outlaws for years but who was playing lead guitar on this one? Very under=ated band Cold Harbor was their best even better than this even. This song invokes memories of crazy moonlight keggars in northwestern Wyoming where we had live music back in the early and mid-70s
DEFINATLY one of the most underrated bands of all time. Fantastic song, and I actually saw these guys live earlier this year, being as old as they are they can still Rock out! 5 stars definatly, great post man :)
I was lucky to see these guys shortly before Thomasson died, it was a great show.

I saw them last month at a club we're reviving in Mill Valley, California. Thank God for good solid rock, small music clubs, and purity in music.
