  • Not bad at all ^^,

Super awesome! Keep up the good work

  • Your accent sounds like the Finland Swedish :P

  • It's amazing that you've learned Swedish so fast! I mean it's a really difficult language, I speak swedish since I'm born and raised there, but you speak a lot better then many of our new comers. You should be proud!!

  • du är jätte bra på svenska fortsätt träna :)

  • sounds like finish or danish or something, du kan inte svenska bra! lol

  • @iThunz stfu you obviously don't speak swedish then.

Shes perfectly understandable when she's speaking swedish it does not sound like danish or finnish, its a streach to even say her accent sounds like finnish its just accent stop being such a quashog.

  • @MasterOfFlash92 im from sweden you bastard...

  • @iThunz like i said you probably don't speak Swedish then, don't worry its okay to live here even if you can't speak Swedish.

  • @MasterOfFlash92 nono, i dont speak swedish noo lol... im a swede..

  • She sounds polish or something

  • You sound just like a russian who have started to learn swedish, still okey I guess . .

  • Swedish is fine though I noticed something when you counted.

You said one two third four, its tre for three

  • @FknAwsomePoff she said tre(a) :P so its kinda right

  • damn it's sexy when you speak swedish.

  • HAHAHHAHAHA! I love when the title says "american girl speak swedish" and that she is using a book for danish! lovely sense humor!

  • Jag förstår dig :). Du lär dig ...

    I understand you. you learn:)

  • If you use french/German/danish R's you get the dialect from Skåne, the furthest down in sweden. And thats the sexiest one..

  • You're speaking swedish very well, but I have an advice for you.

If you are asking a question for example (it's going to be hard to explain this),

avoid putting more emphasis on the last vocal in the sentence.

Ofcourse it's different depending on which context it is, but I believe most of the swedish words have more emphasis in the middle, the beginning, or in several places of the word.

here's an example, compared to the video:

    Video: "Pratar du engel[ska?]"

    Correction: "Pratar du [eng]elska?"

  • The problem with scandinavian countries is that you can basically not understand each others' languages.

I've heard swedish is the most "understandable" of the lot though, but it's hard for me to say since swedish is my native language. :)

  • It's an old video nowdays so this is a bit late, but I think you speak swedish pretty good, I hear what you say, but I think you need to speak more clearly and pronounce the words a bit more. If you don't mind me asking, why are you interested in Sweden? Do you have roots from here or is it just a general interest? The best of luck to you.

  • Very good. When did you start learning swedish? Keep up the good work. En språkresa till Sverige kanske? :)

  • great job! keep it up :D it's kinda wierd, though your american, your accent sound finnish :P but really good work :)

  • Not necessary to learn Danish, its destroys your tongue.

  • Låter som en finsk som pratar svenska ;D

  • I understand you better than I would understand most people from Skåne.

Jag förstår dig bättre än jag skulle förstå de flesta från Skåne.

  • Another swede here. You are really doing a great job :) And the accent, ye, sure, you can hear it, but no one in their right mind would have any problem understanding you, my accent when I talk English is probably about the same, and we study it in school from like third grade. Only thing that comes to mind is the frase "Excuse my Swedish" is not really used and I really hope you won't ever end up in a situation where ppl would care :)

  • As most of the others I managed to understand you pretty well, keep it up! :)

  • Hey, I understood you fairly well! :) I'm not Swedish, in fact I'm Australian, but I have learnt a lot of Swedish from my boyfriend.

  • @minno131 Haha! My boyfriend (who is Swedish) describes the Danes accent like they have massive potatoes in their mouths. :P

  • @TinyLittleSilver Rigth on the spot, or maybe some disease in the throat.. :(

  • @TinyLittleSilver It is NOT true, I assure you. Unlike Swedish and Norwegian Danish pronunciation swallows some letters, and is some ways similar to French but even I as an English person can understand them (since I speak Swedish among numerous others)

  • Im swedish, and you are really good :)

  • It sounds like a russian accent =P

  • you are good :)

  • Finnish accent? I think it sounds more Russian, haha. But seriously, you're amazing. I've always considered it impossible to learn Swedish, but you've proved me wrong. ;) Are you still studying it? And did you ever learn Danish? If there's a language even more impossible to learn, it's gotta be Danish. :P

  • I understand you, keep fighting!

  • its very god, but sounds abit like youre from finland ^^

  • You talk really good Swedish. Your accent sound almost like when Finns speaks Swedish, but I can understand you. I hope you visit Sweden some day. Especially Malmö witch is the third largest city. Hej då

  • haha funny you listen to abba while learning Swedish..!

  • You speak swedish very good Karly going to sweden perhaps? If so where in Sweden Hejdå

  • Your swedish is very good and i understand you very well. I´ve heard people that have studied swedish at a school here in Sweden and heard imigrants that studied swedish for 2 - 3 semesters and had an accent that almost damaged my ears permanently. You´ve got a very nice and cute accent :-)

  • you suck

  • Going great with your swedish but i hear that you still need more traning with your speach :D Im from sweden, question why would you wanna learn swedish in the first place ? :P

  • Carlie, can you explain why all the americans are so ignorant? Your swedish is understandable:)

  • This was really cute :) If you would like to learn more swedish, you can have my skype nickname (which is a Swedish made software btw (just sayin)) ;p I can teach you very much of our history of sweden too, if you are intrested? I love my country and you found my heart by your excitement for the swedish language. Good luck with it and keep up the good work. Really good!!!

  • wow, that's a strange accent :D like russian/turkish/finnish ^^ I do understand it all though :D

  • I am from Sweden. Great job, i can understand you fine. You may have to practice your accent :)

DO NOT use the dannish book. You can damage your tounge.

  • @it0422 hahaha tack tack! :)

  • #LOL xD i like u:

ett två tre fyr fem sex ( O.O ) Sju ått nio tio

  • You accent sounds like a mixture between turkish and finnish. :p

  • jag pratar svenska och engelska :)

  • vrf äre alltid så att alla som ska försöka prata svenska låter som en turk :S?

  • you're much better than Charlie Sheen:)

as we say in Sweden: Jättebra!

  • Why are u reading from a Danish book? That a huge 'Fuck you' to us in Sweden :)

  • You're very good! Bra jobbat!

  • haha although u sound retarded, u go girl!

  • Hehehe! I understood every singel word. It sounds like if you were an immigrant from... let say.. Russia though. ;-) But you're doing fine. Keep it up!

    Hej då! :-)

  • Äh... Varför solglasögon inne? Varför dansk bok? Och VARFÖR ABBA?!

  • Impressive! Very impressive! I see this video is about a year and a half old but I hope you're still working on your Swedish because you have a lot of potential!

    Keep it up!

  • Damn your good :) , sounds abit like a russian feeling when you pronaunce some words :) , but as a swe i understand everything u said veryvery good , GJ

  • ett, två,tre,fyra,fem,SEX ;D,sju,åtta,nio,tio..elva tolv tretton fjorton femton SEXton ;),sjutton,arton,nitton,tjugo,tjugoett etc,etc..

Du e en het brud o jag e en svensk kille :))..

  • Why do you have a DK book? Jag förstog allt du sa. Bra Svenska :)

  • @Octavice hahaha ywah I get that question a lot. It's jsut a joke since I have a love for languages and Scandinavia! Don't think I'm trying to make fun of swedes becasue I lvoe them! haha

  • @Octavice * förstod

    Svenska, inte stockholmska.

  • @Bunchofnumbers04128 Det är Götebosska. Inget annat.

  • hahaha, walla du va sick

you were very good, why do you like the swedish language if i may ask :) ?

  • Oh no its the russian Spetsnaz. They are learning swedish so that the can infilltrate the swedish army and kill important people

  • Problemet är väl att hon har en Dansk ordbok

  • Hi if anyone can read this , I 'm from Algeria and I'm 13 , I speak English , French , Spanish , Arabic , and I wanna learn Danish, but I did not find any web site , so if anyone know a way to learn Danish tell me please :)

  • Very good, I understand every word you said :)

  • I might not be Swedish..But I'm from Denmark and I understood you Perfectly!..

    Good Job!

  • you pronounce "R" very , VERY badly. otherwise it was okay :p

but in sweden we wouldn't say Amerika , we would say USA (U - ess - A )

  • you pronounce "R" very , VERY badly. otherwise it was okay :p

  • You sound like me when i came to sweden 15 years ago =)..

  • Hard to come by any dictionary in the Scandinavian languages. At least she is listening to ABBA.

  • love ur vids owo XD

  • Trying to learn Swedish with a Danish dictionary? :D haha

  • keep up the good work! :)

  • A swede wouldn't say america, they'd say USA, pronounced (yo)u-ess(pecially)-aa(rdvark)

  • I can agree that it is hilarious that you are reading in a dictionary for danish..... Is it a statement, that danish is like swedish? Then we are insukted in sweden ;) you pronounce quite good!!

  • Isn't it funny how easy Swedish people learn English, but how hard it is for English people to learn Swedish.. I know that English ( especially american english) is a very lined up language, like always the same tone, and Swedish is a very melodic language. Though very good job!

  • I dont get all the hate! Ofc youre gonna have an accent, youre not swedish afterall! But the vast majority of swedes would, like me, not care at all about that. Instead we love anyone trying (and succeeding like you do) at speaking our little language! :D

I see you like Köttbullar, but you really have to try some homemade and not just the IKEA ones. I think IKEA Köttbullar is ok, but homemade are SO much better. IF you want I can ask my mom for her recipe.

  • no u dont speak swedish

  • you accent is pretty good, i understand what you say:) your doing great!

    puss och kram från sverige

  • haha fan va kul! :D

  • OMG! This is so funny! You're sooo cute with your little american accent ^^ You're doing REALLY good. It's clear and it's really simple to understand what you're saying, + no grammar mistakes so far! You go girl! (why where you holding a danish book? ahhaha so funny!)

  • Du är söt :D

    You are cute :D

  • Why do you have a danish dictionary? xD

  • haha svenskaaaa xD

  • It's amazing how your accents sounds a lot like when finns speak swedish.

Don't get me wrong now....you're VERY understandable! :-)

  • @Janusmannen haha thanks so much too kind :)

  • @Janusmannen sounds more like a russian speaking swedish :D

  • @fullmeincraft Don't insult her.... She speaks WAY better than how russians speak swedish!

  • @Janusmannen i didnt insult her im just saying many russians speak swedish like this

and i myself is from finland fast jag kan tala jävlit bra svenska but thats because swedish is my main language.

Many of my finish friends speak really good swedish

  • @fullmeincraft OK.... Jag är svensk, med finskt i blodet.... Och i mitt tycke så var det en förolämpning... :-P But well, we all have our own opinion. :-)

  • why the heck did u have a Danish dictionary for? xD

  • Gotta love that you have a Danish dictionary! <3

But well done! Work on number 7. It's Schu, not Hu :P

  • Why does your book say Danish o_O?

  • Haha im impressed :) Sound slike russian accent

  • Sounds like Finish Swedish ^^

    Låter som finsk-svenska ^^

  • Hm.. Finish accent..

  • you are doing very well, keep it up

a few minor pronounciation errors but nothing too bad

  • pretty bad

  • try not to say R like rrrrr... just r :p otherwhile it was good :) i mean, you don't sound swedish but i understand what you are saying :)

  • why is she holding a danish book ?

  • Is it only me or does she really sound like a character from Mumindalen? xD

  • Kudos on being able to pronounce the R:s properly. It seems hard for english speaking people to do. :)

  • norwegian language may be easier for you HE HE

  • Jag har alltid velat fråga en amerikan det här: vad tycker du om svenska? är det lät eller svårt, konstigt, roligt etc...I have allways wanted to ask a american this: what do you think of the swrdihs language? is it easy or hard, strange, funy etc...and excuse my spelling but grammar is not my best subject...hope you understand

  • hahaha sounds like a russian trying to speak english... you have a horrible accent, but keep it up and one day you'll be speaking it well, hopefully... greetings

    Ryan

  • @blanzo1337 yeah that's jsut you're opinion. I hear more positive reviews than negative ones. And you have to give me credit for caring about you're language and culture..becasue it seems like no one else does :)

  • @Kdawg25 yeah It's my opinion.. and it's actually true.. you don't know as you aren't native swede so you can't hear the difference by its (language) all accents yet... I'm just trying to tell you to keep on working, because it aint perfect swedish and it's not supposed to be perfect until you've learned it right? :) I don't care how many people there is, trying to learn swedish.. but I respect them.. and yes I give you creds for trying to learn this language! didn't mean to offend you. cheers!

  • @blanzo1337 I'm learning it for fun. I know I'll never be perfect..don't plan to be.

    Much Respect cheers

  • @Kdawg25 hej no1 will ever be perfect so don't try so hard to do the inpossible

  • @blanzo1337 You crazy man? That accent is what is amazing. All of the people i know loves the "russian" accent!

  • @Kdawg25

    thaths because our country sucks

  • you are awesome :) keep up your good work (Y) jag förstod allt du sa ;D

Pinsamt!

  • @Shark9bait Vad tror du? OMG!( roflmao) Jag tkr iaf nt det äe pinsamt

  • You speak swedish very well

  • @skapkokarn :D thank you kind person :)

  • really awesome!! riktigt bra !!

  • @oskarekmark Tack Tack :D I try to give it my all

  • You do have improved at bit :) Good job! Don't worry so much about the number sju, because depend were you are in Sweden you will hear it pronunced diffrently. So as long as you speaking in a way that people will understand you, it is okay :)

  • uhmmm, speaking swedish is nothing to be proud of.. It's a horrible and ugly sounding language.

  • Oh I must say of all the videos ive seen on people trying to speak swedish you are far better, i could at least understand what u said ^^ Still it is very clear you are not from Sweden but keep on working ;D Lycka till :)

  • Three = tre when counting as someone said. I might attempt an explanation too, keeping in mind, it's a shot in the dark and I never learn any rules for languages, I just learn how it's supposed to be and never question it:

Trea is either a single number three. "En trea"

It can also in some contexts be used as third. "Han låg trea efter första etappen"

"He was on third place after the first leg". While it is accepted I doubt it's formally correct.

  • when i go to my aunts place we´re allways driving past Agnetha in ABBAs house, It looks like a gingerbread house with alot of horses and stuff xD

youre swedish is VERY good for being an american, you can´t even hear youre american accent :)

fortsätt lära så kommer du låta som en svensk på nolltid :)

  • It sounds good but you sound like your from finland or russia for some reason... Or am I really bad at dialects? It sounds like it on your R:s.

  • One more thing. Some swedes pronounce sju = 7 as you would shoe but with more of a u sound at the end. (shu)

  • Hej!

  • Hey!

You are doing a great job! Sounds good :D

Just one thing, three is called tre, not trea :D

hope you understand, couldn't find a way to explain it, sometimes it called trea, but not when you count :D
