Boston Celtics fans started this chant, don't believe me, here is a quote from recent sports article

"One of the lasting effects on the Lakers–Celtics rivalry was the usage of the famous "Beat L.A.!!!" chant, sung by fans in opposing arenas whenever a Los Angeles-based team plays in their home venue. The chant originated during Game 7 of the 1982 Eastern Conference Championship at the Boston Garden when the Celtics fans urged the victorious Philadelphia 76ers to "Beat L.A."

@kr3w121894 Actually, Boston Celtics fans started the BEAT L.A. chant, it started in 1984 when the Celtics and Lakers rivalry heated up. Hearing the Beat L.A. chants at the Boston Garden and TD Garden during the Finals were exciting. Even other NBA teams like the Kings (when they were good in the early '00s) and Trail Blazers (when they ruled the West in the '90s) chanted BEAT L.A. when the Lakers invaded ARCO or Portland.
