@iMGooDLiKe you've pretty much got it in one. they're readily available. They were built tougher at the front than almost any other car of its age. They're front-wheel drive, so they can keep going while the back end has been crumpled, even while the back wheels are gone. And they are within the 2-litre engine size limit. They've become so commonplace on track, it's not unusual to have non-Mondeo meetings, just for the novelty value :)
