  • People have to eat. Plain and simple. If you wanna get to the root of the problem then think about our over populating the earth. Control that and everything else will take care of itself.

  • OK, Greenpeace. we have all seen the video now. but what happened nothing? the tuna fleets are still out there. My tip: Be more activists, less bureaucrats.

  • @Desadesh Does 95% of tuna populations depleted from 1975-2011 ring a bell you thick scum?, that was just a very lucky catch.

  • i like how they think i give a shit

hell if you eat the tuna then its all good

  • i like the noise it makes at 00:43

  • I eat it but I only eat dolphin friendly basically means pole caught

  • it not just the japanese it everyone! we are all human exist with these creatures.. when will we learn to share what is here and to stop exploiting these gifts... btw the tuna in this video are being caught ina sustainable way! these mena re being real men using their muscles cathing one by one. this is something to be thankful for! use your manpower!

  • Every fat around your belly is the evidence of global warming. Livestock industry is the No.1 culprit of global warming as UN FAO scentists concluded a few years ago. Beef is the worst amongst all animal agriculture in terms of rainforest logging and greenhouse gas emission.

    Greenpeace hypocrits, it's your choice.

Be green, if you still have a fraction of conscience.

  • @popost22 if global warming is man caused then WHAT CAN WE DO other than stop all industry and revert to the DARK AGES

and im not sure about you but i wont do that at ALL

  • BOO,HOO.... All you whiners are so disconnected with how humans harvest our food. Until you can invent a way to stay alive without eating, SHUT UP!!

Fish and animals are not human.

Better yet, come and work on a real farm or fishing vessle, where animals are killed each day for us to eat. You will get used to it pretty quick.

  • Greenpeace

    go screw yourself

  • What a bunch of dark age bs is this I feel so sorry for the tuna what a why to die

  • @Seaworm1982 if you like tuna you might have ate that one :) lol

  • This makes me sick, tuna re beautiful creatures that deserve to live, we have no right to do this to them, fuck the japanese save the tuna!

  • Those who eat this may not know some poison mental elements are in it. Eat more if you like having cancer.

  • disgusting !!!!! ...

    teffible !!!!! ...

  • see these endangered birds please help this campaign

    /watch?v=bdTadK9p14A

    /watch?v=cIdLdQGIv2s

  • I want to becom an ocean defender

  • No more tuna for me!

  • mmmmmmm tuna

  • What is coming out of mouth? 1:18

  • @mickonlyforu its innards get forced out the mouth due to the high pressure of water clearing out the blood

  • I am actually eating a tuna sandwich as I was watching this, and I don't feel bad in any way. These tuna are caught and killed in a matter of a few seconds. Very quick and humane. I see nothing wrong with this.

  • Omg, this is sick... :(

i will never eat tuna again! never! :(

  • thats what many people say when they see such videos

couple weeks later its forgotten and go backt o eating =/

  • @everybodys1fool what the fuck do you think they do to cows, hogs, chickens, etc.? Are you never eating anything but vegies for the rest of your life? And omg, you might hurt the plant when you pick the food....get real...this is just the way it is. I hope you had your veggie tonight.....p.s. if you are eating NOTHING but plants, more power to you.

  • gee thanks green peace u just taught me a great lesson.

How to kill a tuna in 3 seconds

  • Asesinos Hijueputas!!

  • you know i prefer eating fish than meat cos , those fishes lives and swim free in the ocean before getting captured and theyre not getting tortured like those chickens or cows that spend their whole lifes in cages and being abuse by those fuckfaces called them selves humans.. watch KFC cruelty !!

  • like to know how these people figure that tunas are killed in a less humane way than animals at a slaughter house !!! people say fish don't have feelings , how the hell do u know , are u a fish, i think they do have feelings and they're made to be hurt !!! these vids are a waste of life for anyone who watches, not everyone is a damn veagan !!! i love eating meat and fish, same as our ancestors , and im gonna keep up the tradition !! can't wait to have a little blood run down my chin tonight yum

  • it's just inhumane.. thats what this videoclip is all about. I felt sick watching this yet i'm going to eat my meat/fish sometime soon

  • The Greenpeace activists unfortunately do not realise what the real problem is. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT YOU NEED TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSES OF THIS CORRUPTION! The economic system itself is the problem! Activism WITHIN the system is pointless!

    check out

THE ZEITGEIST MOVEMENT website and the movies ZEITGEIST and ZEITGEIST: ADDENDUM

  • Wtf is coming out of its mouth? Please someone tell me.

  • its stomach

  • I like how nobody gets the real reason why Green Peace made this vid. It's not becuse of fish torture, it is becuse Japan is overfishing valuable tuna stocks in other countries waters with no regard for international laws and regulations...

Do research on it, It's the simple truth...

  • Food has to be killed either one way or the other. BUT IT LOOKS PRETTY COOL TREE HUGGIN HIPPERCRITS!!!!!!!!!

  • It's "hypocrite" actually.

    How are they hypocrites?

  • agreed, Lizz and Turbine, they are so uninformed they make assumptions and talk fuckign stupid shit.

  • God damn hippies stop critizing on what you dont know, this TUNA feeds the japanese people wich is MANY we eat animals fish to keep ourselves alive and in the wilderness animals die in a slower more painful death than fish than can hardly feel pain this is just BULSHIT

  • This video wasn't as nearly as bad as the one greenpeace did on whale killing. But, you cant say the fish don't feel pain with the way that first tuna was flipping around when they skewered it's brains.

  • Actually you can. Tuna fish aren't able to feel pain the same way we do because they're mentally unequipped for consciousness due to their lack of a developed neocortex. It's a simple reflex response, much like military robots responding to tactile feedback. However, this doesn't necessarily mean all fish are unable to feel pain, as the trout is able because of its developed neocortex. Specific research is required on each creature before you go assuming that whatever is killed can feel pain.

  • the tuna is already dead by the time the wire is inserted down the neural canal. tuna shiver much like humans when they get cold and when they are put in the hold they can shiver and build latic acid and destroy the meat (even after the brain is destroyed and are dead). the wire is shoved down the neural canal to destroy the nerves and prevent the fish from shivering. sashimi grade tuna are actually killed in a very humane and fast way to get the highest price on the fish market.

  • That fish is definitely not shivering in that video it is struggling for it's life to be free.

What they are doing to that tuna is like if someone shoved a wire down your spinal cord and paralyzed your entire body. People complain about other humans being kept alive by a machine but, it is okay to leave tuna in the same state so they can wait to be skinned.

  • Typical response by an ignorant Greenpeace member that probably has spent a total 3 hours on the ocean in their life. I said the the tuna shiver when they are in the hold after they are dead. (an autogenous muscle movement which ruins the meat) The tuna's small brain is destroyed when they core them (0:32) and the fish is dead. The wire is shoved down the neural canal to destroy the nerve endings responsible for shivering. Don't try to act like you know what you are talking about when you don't.

  • It's not being kept alive on a machine. Typical response from someone that's probably never spent an hour fishing on the open ocean. They're destroying the brain with that wire, not keeping it on fucking life support.

    Who skins live tuna?

  • eat pussy and u will live for a life time .. eat CAT and u will have an asian meal .. shut the fuck up u japanese gook go back to wearing skirts and fucking dogs

  • haha, you god damn self centrerd hippie know nothing about the world. Go back to your home and try to ''save'' the world with ur bullshit.

  • alright that how you fish and fuck of you shut the fuck mother let them do there job u mother mother fucker like to talk shit huh

  • SHUT DA FUK UP U NIGGA I CUT U

  • f****** japanese

  • the people who r doin this to the tuna r fagits

  • Most like the stomach being filled up with water and protruding out of the mouth from flushing.

  • what are they doing to them?

  • It's 1 of the method to kill tuna which is destroying the brain. Other method is cutting the gills to bleed fast.

It's very necessary to do that to the tuna species because those species of fish build up adrenaline & histamine in their body as they fight. Longer the blood & temperature is maintained in their body, higher chance of the toxic build up which leads to scombroid poisoning.

  • whats coming out of its mouth?

  • wht the hell u mother fucker how could u do that thats a living thing wht if i came up to u and held u down and put a wirethrought ur brain until ur eyes pop out how could u stand to do that it sickkens me wht people will do in the world today just for a little money

  • Those are fish for god sakes!

  • once there gone, there gone..

  • omg, how can people fucking do this? how would we like it if someone drilled a hole in our head and hung us up? damn, sometimes makes me wonder if there is a god, and i'm atheist. get this shit off youtube

  • flag this video as animal abuse and get this shit off youtube

  • Then u´ll buy a little pot of tuna?

  • delicious

  • yellowfin

  • This Is Fucking Horrible . So Glad I Don't Eat Fish

  • So glad ur unhealthy?

    Atleast 1 fish a week!

  • Yumm tuna, my favourite food!

  • hm, ja, but we kill them to often

  • because we need tuna often. but aslong as they dont over farm them and i still have tuna in the future im ok :)

  • you can't farm tuna you faggot

  • I think in china, they are farming tuna for domestic uses since they over fish in that part of the world.

  • Tuna will make you smell at night.

  • nice.

  • mmmmm yum

  • I've never thought of fish having pain & awareness senses any way near as good as humans. A jab in the brain is propably a less distressing way to die compared to oxygen starvation for the fish. And they are only fish!

  • Mmmmm, tuna. Get the mayo!

  • they are going to fuck there fishery there to lazy to fish them with a rod and reel like we do in nove scotia

  • im pretty sure those are yellowfin not bluefin

  • they are small bluefins, yellow fins have very yellow fins

  • allbusiness, i think your brain might be the size of a pebble too. maybe someone could do the same to you.

  • druha10304 although a moral vegetarian who only ate an animal if it died in its sleep once punched out 2 girls for not loaning him 15 cents.

  • Greenpeace... do you need me to call the WAAAHbulance?

  • I like when they shoved the thing in it's head and it bled everywhere. Thanks for the sweet video.

  • who gives a fuck, they're fucking fish. their brains are the size of a pebble. you fucking kill them and eat them because they taste good. jesus christ.

  • Food has to be killed either one way or the other. But this looks too sad.

  • And what was coming out of the mouth and was it crying blood?

  • i believe it was its tongue...or some air bladder thing...

  • its stomach

  • Just so you know:

Ikijimi spikes are used expressly because they are quick and as close to 'painless' as you can make the killing of another animal.

While I don't like long-lining (because of the untargeted deaths) it's much better than netting in terms of waste.

  • How do you know? Ever been Ikijiimed?

  • Who cares? Tuna taste yummy. Or perhaps you'd rather have a shark eat them? I'm sure that's far more pleasent.

  • dick

  • id have shark eat them than being tortured alive

  • Nice vid, heard about how they Ikijimied tuna. Always wanted to see it . Thanks :)

  • yea these tune were killed fast, easy and humane...

  • non ci sono parole ......i veri predatori sono lì nel filmato "gli umani"

tutto x un pò di shushi pagato cifre astronomiche fatelo girare questo video

  • ok i cant argue a tuna is a beautiful magestic creature that they are but i fish for a living takeing chartets out and this is the most humane way to kill a fish i have seen it looks bad but u have to understand the thought prosses of a fish their entire life is consumetd by 2 things eat and dont be eaten and these beautiful large tuna are no different than the 4 to 10 inch hearings they gorge on the hearings are gorging on creel creel ususaly the corld is crule in the ocean

  • mmmm....tuna sandwichs...lol

  • heyrakia66 shut the fuck up, that asian people do it you fucking american are stupid

SMALL OR BIG WE TAKE IT ALL SO SHUT THE FUCK UP let them do there job

  • sad...

  • tuna fish mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy love it

  • Green peace makes me laugh. The wire in the head is how they kill the tuna quickly so that it does not bruise by flopping around on the deck. Because the tuna has such a small brain you have to insert the wire in the right spot. This is a very humane way to get food.

  • seriously, these people know nothing. the second that wire enters their head they are dead. the only problem i have with commercial fishing is that they over fish. fish lack the cerebral cortex which is what is responsible for the fishes awareness of pain.

  • This video is shocking. I believe that when caught, the fish should be put on death row for 14 years, given a last meal (of their choosing) and executed by lethal injection after receiving the last rites.

  • Geeze that thing was jerking around like crazy, I guess it is cruel, but at the same time that's just how life is

  • that wasnt bad wat did the wire go in the body that made blood come out of the eyes

  • I love fishing, and catching huge tuna's. Nothing more fun than hooking a huge tuna, gaffing it in the head, and watching it bleed everywhere. But as a fishermen, i do hate tuna seiners, they're killing all our catch.

  • No it is my pet, not to be eaten. sorry!

Can I come and eat your dog?? Or do you have a pet tuna I can eat...

  • I have three jellyfish in an aquarium, you can eat one if you like, if you can catch 'm.

  • I personally found this fascinating, if only in a slightly morbid kind of way. I've always wanted to know how those giant fecking fish ended up in my tiny little sandwich. A little cringe worthy with the wire, but until they find a better way, go with it. Waste of tuna and time otherwise.

  • These vulgar comments that people are leaving here are just plain ignorant. I imagine they were looking for something other than the fish when they typed in "tuna". I was sitting down to eat some tuna when I looked this up. I think there should be a picture of the exact cow, fish, chicken, whatever on every package of meat so people realize what they are doing, what they are, as they consume other living things. The imagined "righteousness" of the human race makes me sick to my stomach.

  • Whatabout all those poor little baitfish that the Tuna eat? Or do you Peta types think thast they live on marmalade sandwiches.

  • no fishing -> no bait -> no baitfish, sorry :)

  • "baitfish" is a term used to describe the millions of tiny schooling fish that make up the tunas diet, A fish does not have to be used for bait, to be described as a baitfish. Or am I missing something here? If fishing is banned will it lead to the demise of the worlds baitfish? In turn leading to the death of all the predators? It would be a disaster... no?

  • evilazonic, must you really be so harsh and still miss the point of the video.

No one is informed these days, the amount of people who eat meat products without an awareness of the processing of their food or the implications of eating an animal. Eating tuna is fine, but saying that society keeping it's citizens unaware of the harsh nature of reality is righteous is plain backwards.

    Nietzsche is fallible too.

  • I wasn't saying that being uninformed or unaware is "righteous", in fact I was stating the opposite. I was pointing at the reasoning behind why something like this is construed as shocking or offensive. Life feeds on life. We are constructed of only what we consume. Yes, Nietzsche is most certainly fallible, he was human was he not? But he does have many helpful things to say about our all-too-fallible sense of morality.

  • go video no fuck fuck fuck ur selfes who likies it ill rape u not its fucked

  • I feel the need to elaborate. "Shocking" and "offensive" refer only to our adopted sense of morality. You put up a video of one of the most precise methods of harvesting one of the most healthy foods in existence. I suppose next you will be protesting lions eating water buffalo in Africa. We're hunters, we're fishermen. Read some Nietzsche, lose the dramatics.

  • Seriously, Ms. Greenpeace...yeah, it's slightly shocking, but so is child birth...yeah it's slightly offensive, but so is conception. It's more that we as humans like to keep this in kind of stuff in the dark, than that it is unnatural, or in-humane. Thanks for the informative video, makes me a more knowledgeable tuna lover.

  • I hope you petaphiles realise that ALL i repeat all sashimi grade tuna must be prepared this way. To be classified as sashimi, by law, it must have this done to it.

  • So powerful, beautiful and majestic a creature to be murdered and tortured in such a way. It makes my heart quiver....... with EXCITEMENT. Heck yea! I'm gonna try that next time a tuna's on deck. The japanese are a very precise people.

  • ee napalim, balik yemeyelim mi yani..

..so ?, how can i eat fish... Of Course they should be killed

  • I personally love to gaff tuna while fishing and throw the bloody live tuna on board the boat and then smack it over the head with a bat several times, all while blood is flying everywhere -- good times.

  • just killed some tuna myself down at the 391 sportfishing with a buddy. It's a lot more fun to gaff them in the head then slit their gills and watch them shake violently til they reach their demise. yum sashimi...

  • poor fish....but to eat it we must kill it in some way

  • ~~~ If it had been daytime a wet towel would have been placed over the eyes of the fish. You'll notice also the eerie calm of the scene..not much in the way of loud noise. This is intentional in order to keep the fish as calm as possible. These are Yellowfin tuna & are being prepared for the highest grade sashimi possible... you'll never find this tuna in a can at your local supermarket on a 'shelf' .

  • The tuna dispatched here are for sashimi grade only. Carefully brought aboard (gaff in head), placed on a foam mat to avoid bruising. A length of heavy nylon is inserted into the head & run down the spine which destroys the nervous system & prevents cortisol release thus assuring a high quality product. Notice also that the operation occurs at night in order to keep the fish as calm as possible and out of the heat of the day. ~~~

  • what is wrong with that? actually hurts their argument....it is actually a very humane way to kill a fish. When we catch the big ones, we tail rope them and pull them backward behind the boat to basically drown them....and we rake their gills to bleed them while they are still alive - to improve the quality of the meat....that is a little more cruel than this. You guys should shoot some of that to gain more support.

  • That is by far the MOST HUMANE way I've ever seen to dispatch a wild caught food animal... done carefully and precisely.

  • great footage me and my buddies signed up to fish for salmon because of this video. It was great to see from a motivational standpoint. We worked our asses off and got invited to go crabbing hard work more so but rewarding. We are now fervent recruiter's for the industry.Every one who wants to say the know what hard work is needs to be on a fishing boat.

  • Give me a god damn break Greenpeace... Thats one damn method, and if you knew anything about tuna's you would know they dont die right away and if not done causes MORE suffering to the fish. I suppose none of you eat tuna either right??? Why dont you do something worthwhile and feed the homeless or something instead of posting shit videos on how animals are killed so we can eat.

  • MMMMMMM, TUNA!

  • I eat meat and know full well how it gets to my plate but i was shocked at 1st when the tuna got its brain skewered..harsh but near instant. I'm not a tree hugger but bluefin is almost on the endangered list now so i hope the tuna fisheries do alright..its 4yrs and a 1 in a million shot for a tuna to reach 2m long adulthood.

And to all the veggies out there...plants are alive too and u lot eat them technically while their still alive.

  • OMG UR NASTY U FREAKS EAT VEGTABLES

  • hey what should we do? start eating salmon? that's farmed isn't it? and canned and priced the same as tuna.

  • Eat Green Peace. They taste like vegetarians. I think that will solve all of our problems.

  • :o I mean I like tuna but that's sorta inhumane. You know, I know that it would be spoiled nd it would not taste fresh but they could just put them in a freezer or something. Then they would just freeze to death instead of stabbing a very sharp thing from the top of their head until blood shoots out of their eyes. >.< ew

  • they sure know how to get r done. I like hunting i like fishing so skrew this animal peace assholes who take stuff to the extremes.

  • Tuna is good! I could give a rip what these eco-whackos think about it. Radical Environmentalism is the new communism. Just like a watermelon- green on the outside but red inside. Creating crises where none exist. The Earth is more resiliant than you think.

  • HAHAHAHA TUNA IS SOOO GOOD

  • lol, they dont kill them like that to be humane/inhumane, its to reduce the amount of cortisol (a stress hormone that degrades flesh quality). Kind of pointless as these fish were caught on longline, so they were probably stressed out for hours before being brought on deck!

@ ac120479 Only the Japs have managed to sucessfully spawn any bluefin, and only in a research scale.

Dont kid yourself, tuna stocks are in decline world wide.

  • what is that from 1:14 to 1:23

  • YUM

  • There are fish hatcheries located all around the globe spawning more fish to set back into the same ocean. It's a give and take relationship called the circle of life so if you really want to overpopulate the planet and screw up the food chain, then you're an asshole. Go cry in your caeser salad and let us eat some goddamned fish. Thank you.

  • Ask any intelligent commercial fisherman how people have affected the circle of life in the oceans. Fish do not depend on people to keep them in balance. You really could not possibly be more clueless about this issue.

  • To the Vegan Hippie idiots: Unless you get off your pale, shrivelled, malnourished asses and can communicate with animals without getting mauled to death, I suggest you all shut the hell up and deal with it. Animals (including people) die every day by the thousands.

  • damn

  • This is OK die. Men's is profesionals...

  • How many of you critics have ever seen a tuna in real life? It is a fast death, looks ethical to me.

  • hmm... I'm no expert on the tuna fishing industry but I think what they're showing here is processing for sushi grade tuna and is not at all representative of the industry as a whole. It's a little disingenuous on the part of Greenpeace to say the least.

  • tuna never desevres to die u swines

  • On a serious note: criticizing people for tuna fishing is ethnocentric and racist. It's easy to criticize as you sit in a nice air conditioned office in Manhattan but ignore the plight of millions of starving people who depend on tuna fishing economically and for sustainance. And humans would've have EVOLVED without fish or meat. Our teeth are heterodontic for a reason.

  • Seriously, how many times are you all going to repeat the same false arguments. Is it racist to criticize the Thai child sex trade? The pimps depend on it for sustainance. And trying to retain the diet of neanderthals is the opposite of evolution.

  • except none of us evolved from neanderthals....

  • Mmm, tuna. I love some good tuna, so does my cat!

  • that was intelligent nobody cares

  • tuna are not endangered in any way and fishermen have to keep a quota (after all we want to keep fish for a long time). Tuna is also good for you and has relativly low levels of mercury because its wild. (farmed fish always has more). The things also die in like 5-10 seconds after comming on board which is waaaaaay shorter than slaughtering a cow. Fish are also not as developed as cows and even though they might feel pain, its not the same as human/cow pain.

  • people please take note of the onboard handling and processing procedures this is what makes tuna taste so good in your local sushi spot...when you see a tunaman thank him, because they risk their lives so you can have "sushi" with your lame friends in the O.C.(or the Hamptons if your east coast).

  • So Greenpeace has started tuna fishing now, thats great we need to all cooperate and work together if we are going to finish the task at hand and completely remove all the tuna from the ocean. the problem is with lonlining and seining you can get them all, so we need the help of sportfisherman and villagers around the world.

  • I wish I was on that boat with some wasabi, rice and ginger.

  • I don't eat sushi, tuna is overfished

    I support Greenpeace...

  • that was fucking awesome

  • It's good to know where your food comes from, but the real question to ask, is was this part of a sustainable catch? What tuna species is it, how was it caught, and where was it caught? Some species and stocks of tuna have been dramatically overfished and continue to be overfished, while others are okay for now. But you cannot tell from the label. Ask your supplier!

  • i see the tuna is getting smaller and not many left in the world and i really see why, i will spread the word of hate since this has wounded me emotionaly...

  • They're easy to make, just use 3/4 inch steel pipe and cut and weld. Use a bench grinder to sharpen the point then. Good tool

  • Thanks, after looking at it again youre right. I'll use stainless. We were just shaving that area with a knife . The tool will make the job easier. Thanks GP

  • Does anyone know where I can get the tool he is using to expose the entry to the spine . That tool is the S***

  • That tool is good BUT if you spike right you dont need the core tool just run the wire straight thru and watch out when they start kickin' a little. I hope you get'um by the ton bro!!!

  • We usually shave the entry area with our knife then run the momo down the spine. The tool is cleaner and makes for a good conversation piece for the charter folks.Have a good season see ya on the edge!Hudson to the Washington.

  • Human eat fish, and fish eat other fish... this is the nature. If the 'greenpeace' is trying to protect nature, they should ensure people got fish to eat.
