Sounds great bro, i see all those cases behind you, are you also a guitar fiend like me? looks like a large collection. great playing also. thanks, and have fun. peace, ron.
Just changed my very old strings and put some light gauge flat wound chromes on it, tried some straight ahead stuff like a no pick "We'll Be Together Again" through my Roland Acoustic Chorus 100, and what a beautiful tone. Could never get this sound through anything at Guitar Center...but then again, trying to find anything with flat wounds on it from the factory in the store......It may not be what this was made for, but then again, it's only got that one pickup...
I know from where you speak, sclogse. Had a '60 like this with heavy flatwounds on it.... with an autobody paint shop finish from 1961. Mercury maroon. Thing sounded wonderful.
I have an H44 that I would love to have restored, so that I can begin to play it. It belonged to my uncle, who passed away in '69. Do you know of any where or any place I might be able to find parts? Great playing by the way! I hope to be able to do that once I get this baby up and running.
Nice playing man, all you need is a smoke filled room, a bass player, some drums and you're good to go. Got a question for ya. Do you know if that pickup is stock? It's not typical but I have the same one on my '57 H44. Thanks, and by the way, your place looks cozy as mine, all axes and cases. Right on :)
Thanks for the comment. This pickup is less seen on both the H44 and H42, but they were stock. There's an H44 on ebay right now with this same pickup on it. Cases and guits... I'm tripping over them!
@ohgoodthinking99 I'm 17 and i just got my hands on this sweet guitar, mine has the same pickup as the one in your video as well. I had to replace a broken tone pot and the bridge on mine and now its the sweetest little guitar i have and i have 9 very nice guitars. :)
Thanks. You'll think even more highly of the guitar's tone once you hear... It is direct into a Peavey Classic 30, no pedals. Just some amp drive, and reverb. It was recorded from the room's ambience using only a USB mono telephone handset (This was accidental, I didn't set my recording source correctly). But that's how it came out, amazing!
dude, i just got this guitar from my grandpa, its the exact color and model, but i dont have an amp cord to connect it with, do i need adapters or something? a 50 year old guitar and 10 year old amp.... idk if there was anything special about it, but you seem like someone that would know about guitars, so i thought i would ask, im lucky to have got it, i guess its pretty rare, now i just wish i could play it hooked up!
Unless it's been modified, it should just use a regular guitar cable with 1/4" plug - same at the other end for the amp input. Send me a private note and I'll give you my email address to send me some photo's if you'd like me to check it out to make sure.
no, lol i dont think ill be selling it, its kinda beat up in the paint department, but ive been persuaded into not screwing with it, they said something about the "character of the guitar" so yea, hmm, yea, this is all original stuff in it, i didnt know if older models were different or anyhitng, i didnt wanna envest in a cord that wouldnt work on it, thats all i needed to know, im kinda new to the electric thing, i just wanna say you have mad skills, because i forgot in the last one
enjoyed your playing, does that guitar have the neck through construction or the bolt on? i played a neck through and the neck was beefy and the sustain was amazing. i own a 66 Silvertone H78 single cutaway with 3 pickups and bigsby
Thanks! All the H44's had neck through construction, a single piece of wood all the way from the head to the tail pin. Sustain is awesome. I like the H78 a lot but don't have one, well done.
These old "cheap" guitars have those good old-timey tones you'd go nuts trying to get out of "real" guitar.

Proof that Van Gogh is alive, never cut off his ear, and plays guitar now.

That one is a Silvertone S1477 (Bobkat), distributed by Sears & Roebuck and based on Harmony H15V. Production years thought to be 1964-1967
