  • good and funny song!!

  • The first music video ever.

  • this was real?

  • o my gosh were in Illinois i live here and i really want 2 see it

  • Johnny was as famous for his novelty songs as he was for his prison concerts. I mean, he sang songs like "A Boy Named Sue," "The One On The Right Is On The Left," The Chicken In Black," and this one here. I do admit the fact that I've seen a lot of Cadillacs over the years, but this is the first, and only one of it's kind.

  • All Hail the PsychoBilly Cadillac!

  • June should try sitting on the hood.. (wink wink)

  • there are automobile factories in Michigan?

  • @bassabassaM6 are you joking? Detroit is America's motor City

  • It used to be before nafta. Do you anything about american history?

  • I love Johnny!

  • Awsome song, awesome singer, awsome car!!!

  • YOW!!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • One piece at a time......you build your own car from spare parts... know that, real.

Did you know, that this song exists as a german Cover-Version from Gunther Gabriel "Ein Stückchen pro Tag"? Refrain in German:

"Ich nehm´ nur ein Stückchen pro Tag, und es kost´ mich keine Mark. Und irgendwann, dann bin ich auch am Ziel. und meine Nachbarn stehn´ staunend da, wenn ich stolz durch meine Straße fahr´, mit meinem neuen Luxus-Automobil"... I think a great hommage to Johnny´s origin version. R.I.P.

  • haha "this is the cotton-mouth, in the psycho auto mobile"

  • im 12 and i love every song he plays

  • Good stuff

  • I love this song.. and love sharing songs like this with my kids.. even when they say the wrong song by the correct artist (sometimes), it still brings a smile to my face =)

  • why does she run away?

  • Gonna ride’ around in style; gonna drive everybody wild….One of the best song lyrics of the twentieth century…RIP John

  • This is my all-time favorite automobile song!!!!!!! Only Johnny Cash can do this song justice with his sincere, deadpan expression while singing this hilarious song!!! Great to see both Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter, in this vintage video.

  • The car is at the "Historical Auto Museum" near Rockford, IL.

  • he wants one that's long and black XD

  • Thats a lot for uploading this, I am 16 years old and Johnny has been my favourite since I was 3 :) Im learning this on guitar now. Thank you

  • "The title weighed 60 pounds" LOL

  • Awesome

  • That car is awesome. There is a cover version of this song sung in german too.

If only the video's quality was better ...

  • Great!

  • its the same as boy named sue?

  • @olivier654 It sure is

  • Johnny Cash was such a great storyteller in song and writing. Glad to see June involved in the fun too. Can't help but laugh.

  • Everybody I have met that met this man in person carried with them a story of respect for the few minutes they shared space with his greatness!

The best is from a man in Welch Oklahoma named Bill Patch(RIP). Bill was young and owned a coal mine, he built the very car that Johnny sung about, "One Piece At A Time"

Drove it to Nashville and gave him the car, and he said when Johnny came out of the house he teared up when he saw the photo of all the men at the mine around the car!

  • I really think that this was a great piece of acting by j. R. N June as well as the

  • thanks for sharing!

  • "but up at the court house they did'nt laugh coz to type it up took the whole staff and when they got through the title weighed 60 pounds" Those lines are some of the best i have ever heard :)

  • I had "Psychobilly Cadillac" pinstriped across the back door of my '69 hearse.

  • I would drive this buggy proudly wish John and June could come along respect's.

  • that's right!cashs music will stand the test of time! R. I. P. J. R !

  • This is great! The music the acting major awesome! Only cash could do something like this. R. I. P. J. R.

  • love this Brother John

  • love this song....never knew they actually put a car together like that...lol...its defenitley cool

  • They don't have good songs and videos anymore like this one because people just want to hurry up and rush so they can impress people by how much time they didn't take. A lot of people think the new music is better. What happened to the 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s and 1990s? I miss that kind of music. I feel like crying.

  • Wouldn't you just love to see the car?!

  • gotta' love 'em rednecks :) (Y)

  • damn, it must have been hard to get the frame out of the factory :D

  • Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash forever! :')

  • Love Johnny Cash! He recorded 96 studio albums! That's astonishing!

  • Adaptor kit. Class.

    What year was this???

  • 1976

  • he is still the man. rip cash.

  • a car like that is simply MADNESS. I want one.

    Gorgeous song and video....

    lol and lol once more.

  • Now thats a PIMPMOBILE !!!!LMAO

  • a damn legend, and a damn good song. a damn good version too.

  • Back-in-the-day a leading country-singer leveraged live-performances at San Quentin...

Curious nobody has emulated Johnny within-or-without the USA...

  • LOL

  • No wonder Detroit is in a wold of HURT

  • It is? I live in Detroit and I can't tell...lol

  • This song always makes me LOL!

  • i am liking the 3 door 3 headlight thing i want one my truck is kinda lookin like that

  • hehe.....bat-mobile......kinda like.....

probly no catalac converter, in them dayz.....lollol....hehe...

  • now were is that car? now

  • Lefthander Auto Museum in Illinois.

  • @Carters01 The car is at the "Historic Auto Attractions" (dot com) Museum in Roscoe, IL near Rockford.

  • @Carters01 what this actually happened?

  • @Carters01 seriously?

  • @Carters01 I so want that car!

  • @Carters01 I wondered where it went. I used to see it on the road once in a while when I lived in Gallitan. Glad to see it survived.

  • im a car guy and that song cracks me up everytime

  • haha, same here

  • this song needs a higher rating...too bad there isn't a 6/5 stars lol... Johnny has been my favorite singer of all time for years this song is just great =)

  • The original gangstar

  • heh...

What cant you fit in a nice, big and square-like lunchnox?

That would be something like engine and trunk, but exept from that?....

  • This song cracks me up -- Johnny is the ORIGINAL rapper

  • thekeybourdologist My dad put a 460 in a Ford Ranger.

  • this is sooooo crack up!!! haha love it

  • what a tune!

  • Sounds like my Mud Bog Truck! Great Song, one of my Fav's

  • he is amazing isnt he

  • I went to the Historic Auto Attractions museum last summer and seen this car there

  • The '73 Caddy could have been a 472 w/a quadrobog carb. And a Turbo 400 tranny?? Where there is a will there is a way. My Dad put a 302 in a Ford Pinto!

  • I know it's all for fun, but being a car guy I got to thinking about the logistics of putting a 1953 transmission to a 1973 engine..... GM had the 3 speed automatic with 360 ci V8s in '53 on Cadillacs, and the engine from '73 would have most likely been a 500 c.i. V8, so that part is entirely possible. There were no computers or advanced electronics in any Cady untill the early 80's, so all the electrical and wiring would be easy. It's getting all the body parts to fit that would be impossible.

  • HA HA HA! This is the best response to a vid ever!

  • Still looks better than most imports!

  • Thank You Heee heeee...

  • From 1949 to 1973 the difference would be huge.

  • It was.

    Look at the car.

  • Awesome!

Great song, great video and a great MAN! Johnny Cash, the best musician ever!

I love you Johnny and i miss you <3

  • AWESOME!!!

  • LMAO @ the part where everyone was lafin for blocks around.Damn those were the days where fun songs were the norm, now its all sex and drugs and shit

  • ty this makes me feel normal cod bless u all

I really love this song, one of my favorites of Johnny's

  • I used to sing this song loads of times at a local karaoke. It was some people there who got me into singing it-and good job they did too! (They made me improve on it each time!)

  • cool, and before the black!

  • Hey, thanks. That was fun to watch. I have the CD & love it.

  • I LOVE this song, extremely funny

  • johnny cash is alsome

  • I saw Johnny perform this song at the Valley Forge Music Fair near Philadelphia back in the late 70's. They showed this video on a screen at the concert. It was great.

  • That had to be awesome. No doubt his video brings back the memories of that night for you now.

  • Johnny Cash "One Piece at a Time"

This is a 49-50-51-52-53-54 Cadillac, named for the number one hit in 1976 by Johnny Cash. This vehicle has been on display at "The House Of Cash" museum in Hendersonville, TN for a number of years before it was purchased by Wayne Lensing for Historic Auto Attractions.

and one door and one headlight on the other. This car has two doors and two headlights on one side...

  • His names Wayne lensing

  • yeah its at the lefthander auto museum

  • I think it's in a auto museum in Illinois. Someone told me the guy who owns Lefthander Chassis (stock car racing) has a museum with old cars like this and race cars and this is one of them.

  • The car was actually built by a man named Bill Patch from Welch, Oklahoma. He drove it to Nashville and presented it as a gift to Johnny Cash.

This is a great video. Thanks for posting it!

  • WOW! Thats AWESOME!. Thats a true Cash friend. Do you know if the car is still around?

  • They actually built this car? IT's different! LOL!
