  • apparently a certain Henle " found" original sheet music of this piece that had already been transcribed for 4 hands on the pianoforte. Justus Frantz and Christoph Eschenbach completed a masterful recording ( DGG ) 35 years ago, perhaps there is a video of it.

  • Outstanding performance. Genuine excellence, really brings this piece to life. The question remains - what was Mozart thinking when he wrote this? It is as though he is reaching back half a century to Bach and the North German organ school...I mean, a double fugue?! Why would the master of the 'Style Galant' compose this? This is surely one of Mozart's masterpieces, albeit written for a mechanical organ. The master of all he surveys...
