  • and then the Grand Finale!

  • hmm i will have my own fireworks this year only thing i need is a branch

  • Awesome. My best friend and I are browsing for Most Awesome Video in Our Opinion and this just went onto "Pure Awesome" playlist of mine. Great vid!

  • of cource, as soon as you say "That is alot of power", the thing explodes

  • Yeah, the vocalizations were better than the video.

    "Jesus Christ".

  • Touch it . XD

  • Nope, the branch was still there after the final short, when the line broke.

  • Did the stick just vaporise?

  • that was awesome! WAY better than the one i witnessed!

  • instead of looking at it in awe call the power company or 911

  • One of the lines fell! :P

  • that is alot of power

  • I'm a lineman and I think stuff like that is fucking awesome, so long as no one got hurt. How rare is that to get something like that on camera.

  • The current is trying to go to ground but that branch isn't a great conductor. Once the electricity burns through the bark the branch becomes a better conductor and creates a dead short. That was the blast at the end.

  • @RayAir1

Nope, the fire ionizes molecules in the air forming plasma. And plasma is a great conductor, so it allows electric arc to form.

Electric arc needs unbroken path to the earth to form, so it took some time for fire to spread and provide conductive plasma bridges. 10kV spark can jump only about 10 centimeters.

  • "Then It Started On Fire"...... Really?... How about (Then It Caught Fire) XO

  • THAT BRANCH WENT BACK TO THE FUTURE!

  • u can see the power line fall before the guy says "HOLY SHIT!!!"

  • ... "blow" is a rhetorical term- no 'fail!' Back in '76- BFLO,NY was encased in a similar icestorm which was fed moisture from Lake Erie. The resulting ice brought down limbs. trees & power lines from Rochester down 2 Erie, Pa. Many arc-ers sparked in my neighborhood. Being a teen then, my friends &I decided to make this cool situation a bit more adventurous, like playing, 'dodge the hanging power lines' & 'aggravating downed 440lines' with roadsalt-slushy iceblobs- Fiery, explosive zappingfun!

  • i laugh at the woman... its gunna blow!!!!! fail, there is nothing TO blow. its a fuckin tree on a line,at the end, the tree does burn thru the line though

  • Ya I have one kind of like this

  • how strong was that current?

  • i think it teleported

  • dont land on my house bbbbzzzzztphhssshh ohhh jesus christ bbsssht woah that is alot of fire booom gone then at end woah holy shit LOL XD I CANT STOP WATCHING ENDING PART

  • JESUS CHRIST OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH WOOWEE THAT IS ALOT OF FIRE BOOOM WOAH LOL GIRL REACTION AND AT END OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO AND MY FAV JESUS CHRIST

  • "OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

  • i like the ending

  • Why didn't you grab yourself a ladder and some duct tape and fix the dang thing?

  • what was the squeaking?

  • It's like a fucking nuke.

  • cool.

  • "HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!"

    My exact reaction!!!

  • Yup just a little short starts a small fire then the over current starts...

  • Jesus C H R I S T !!!! LOL I want that for my ring tone.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!

  • Seeing the wire break is pretty neat (in a certain way offcourse)

I just love the 'zzzzzzjnap.... zzzzzjnap' sound ;)

  • adios electrodomesticos.....

  • "JESUS CHRIST!!!""" that was great

  • Wire down.....

  • JEESSZZUS CHRYUST!

  • *BZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

    "HOOLY SHIIIT!!!!!!!1"

  • @angrycanadian8 Lmfaoo what i was thinking.

  • good power line finale 5*

  • I like listening to people's reactions to it, hahah

  • sweet! that is cool

  • The people's reactions makes it hilarious

  • Excellent show, yea tree branches are conductive mostly due to their water content. What happens is the tree limb heats up and up releasing smoke and steam, (whistling sound), then the limb starts to burn. Since burnt wood is even more conductive, it allows enough current to flow between the burnt points to strike a arc, (looks like a line of fire along the limb), and it get longer until the gap is bridged, causing a high fault current explosive arc, melts/ breaks cable, causing an outage.

  • ahaha

    HOLY SHIIIIT!

    best part lmao

  • Lmao half way through..

    ..."There go's my house..." =[

    xD

  • "Jesus Christ!"

    ...

    "HOLY SHIT!"

  • Comment removed

  • 1:12-1:13 KAPOOF! *gone* :DDD

  • @gueug95 ikr xD

  • hear the guy at the end scream

    HOLY SHIT

    ROFL

  • lol of course its alot of power xD

  • Jesus christ! the idians are coming HOLY SHIIIIT

  • LMFAO HES LIKE "HOLY SHIEEEEEEET" hahahahahha

  • funny when the guy says holy shit!!

  • did somebody say industrial strength welder?

  • "HOLY SHIT!!!!!" now thats epic!

  • QUICK, somebody put some water on that fire!

  • I hate how people have the urge to yipe when they see this stuff stfu!

  • you must write " how American people have THAT urge TO YIPE and to hooleey shite" I never seen comparable behaviour all over the world

  • dude even the wire broke

  • lol @ the warning at the end..

  • Power lines really need to be laid underground in regions where ice and snow is common!!!

  • Which is basically the entire country, not economical.

  • @Anubis4815162342

Neither are a lot of things companies have to do for the sake of safety.

  • @Anubis4815162342 Not quite the entire country. Ice storms are rare to practically non existant in most deep south states, such as Florida, the southern half of Texas, southern Louisiana, southern Mississippi and Alabama, coastal South Carolina, Arizona, New Mexico, most of California, and of course Hawaii.

  • God is photing

  • No; that's just a train, Kemosabe.

  • The dialogue on this video is hilarious, I just put it on repeat all the time. Hopefully nobody go injured.

  • Go touch it just to see what happens

  • omg lot of power and then the line went down was the fire department or the police department there if not that really sucked o and did your power went down at your house just wondering.

  • the holy shit was epic

  • rednecks in the back ground are like: J.C.! HOLY SHIT! the utility line workers were probly rednecks to, getting out of the truck like: let ma get dis.

  • ice storms can be deadly. i hope know one was hurt or lost there house to a fire.

  • at the end segment of the video, the electrical arcing sounded like a giant bug zapper.

  • I could not stop laughing at the "HOLY SHIT!!!" at the end, I just got done laughing hysterically...

  • @cril1001001 that was the tourettes guy

  • @cril1001001 me too :)

  • dumb rednecks never seen electricity before.

  • One of the lines came down. Got any electrifying Blondes around there Jim Bob? Blondes are beautiful!!!

  • Now that was Far Out Man!

  • Holly what?

  • how long did it take to get the power restored?

  • It was 6-8 hours for most of the City of Princeton, IA.

  • lol at 1:11

    BBBZZZZZZ FART!!

    *sparkle sparkle*

    lolz

  • Ever heard of a plasma arc cutter? Used for cutting metal. Well the powerline just did that to itself. Look right at the bright arc at the end just before the arcing stops. You'll see the powerline fall down. It just plasma arc cut right through itself.

  • Cool! Didn't notice it at first. The wire burned in two.

  • I think the exchange was "What do you think people on the highway are thinking?"...reply, "WTF; Indians are coming!" (as in smoke signals, I guess).

  • did he say indians are coming

  • More wild is that immediately after that last big spark at 1:12, if you look closely enough, you can see a power line falling.

  • "JESUS CHRIST!" I LOVE THAT

  • The new revision of IEEE1394 FireWire!

  • DUDE!!!

  • that is alot of power ouch

  • Just brilliant

  • I loved the ending the wire vaporized like a giant fuse :-).

Something had to give and I knew it wasn't going to be the limb.

  • LOL....the lady "JESUS CHRIST!"

the dude at the end..."HOLY SHIT!"

    LOLOLOLOL

  • 13.800 volts powerline,60 Hz.sound

  • That's called a FireWire!

  • Cool. In Germany we say: heilige Scheiße!

  • "HOLLY SSSHHHEEEIIIITTT"

  • LOL!

  • It sounds like a gigantic bug zapper

  • you should hear it happen 6ft from you while in a bucket! its intense!

  • When the limb finally went to ground it blew the protective fuse.

  • That reminds me of the Moores Mill Road incident, except no houses cought on fire here from power surge. :O

  • Holy crap!

  • HOLY CRAP! :(

  • HAHAHA, I like your warning at the end! :)

  • I loved the background noise!

I lol'd when the lady screamed "JESUS CHRIST" but that turned to ROFL when she screamed "HOLY SHIT!" and the "warning" screen.

  • The other reason the breaker didnt trip is because the utility companies have increased breaker sizes to avoid nuiscance trips.

  • Ha! Gotta meet that load demand! Don't want any squirrels messing up our day!

  • totally man! haha. it atleast seems like the reclosure would have tripped.

  • 10-15kv 500-800A

  • 60 Hz sound

  • Nice audio & video and good commentary to boot..

  • "holy Shit!"....hahaha

  • "That is a lot of power..."

    sounds exactly like Jeff Foxworthy

  • lol i was on the highway

  • dumb fuck

  • what this

    it don't trip

    oh""" danger

  • The breaker didn't trip because the resistance of the wood is too high to allow enough fault current to flow. Once the arc flashes over phase to ground, it is a short circuit and trips out the breaker. 7200 volts and a LOT of amps.

  • Why didn't a breaker trip? that went on for quite a while LOL

  • Where are the dueling banjos!?!??

  • They are in the red camaro next to the false teeth.

  • judjuing by the size of the insulators... that a 14KV@ 150-200amp feed...yep,lots of current!

  • Thank you for this video. Few people realize how much power actually runs thru those harmless looking lines in our back yards. These are the hazards linemen face everyday to supply our nations power needs.

  • hy tj this is lildog135322 aka anthony zuidema sue sun. thats a good movie!

  • No power pole explosion, or futher arcing. Remaining tree limb burned for a short period; it was still hung up in the pole. However, you can actually see the line break at the insulator in the clip. They (Mid American Energy) only spliced in a 4 foot line/section where it broke with a couple connectors. No new line. It was a bunch of friends getting together watching this after a deer hunt.

  • dud i wod be on the phone to the fire dep and hidirl compny by the time it started to flash arc like that.

  • ya shown you and jhon.

  • You're right, that is a lot of current. You should've kept the video rolling. I wanted to watch it to the end result. Did the utility pole burst into flames?
