  • lindsey is the reason I play guitar.

  • Oh please, why did you cut IT WAS I off? It's my very favorite Lindsey's song... is it possible that you could post it, if you don't like the song please I'll buy you the video!!!

  • Man I hadn't realized what a total ass Merv Griffen was, so embarrassing to watch him interview this great genius.

  • i wake up with this hair,,,curly curly,,,big love!

  • You don't happen to have his performance of it was I do you?

  • Merv Griffin is a true tool.

    Buckingham taking the high road.

  • THE COOLEST

  • As a Stevie Nicks fan, I didn 't really appreciate Lindsey, until they(Fleetwood Mac) made an album/CD without him, and it sounded awful! A true genius.....

  • Great Interview. Thanks For Loading.

  • Buckingham like David Gilmour are underestimated yet their guitar sounds make up two of the most successful bands in history in rock & roll! Without Lindsey, you would have never had the Fleetwood Mac sound that started with the classic lineup!

  • Wow!! I wld love to

take a 8-9 month holiday or break

  • I've always admired Lindsey's unique way of doing music and presenting himself. He's not typical or everyday, he's iconoclastic but not too strange and extravagant or eccentric like Prince or MJ for example, that's just an example, so take it easy now :o)

Nor is Linsey conceited or pretending to be humble like Bono. Lindey's just the man, down to earth intelligent and highly creative.

  • Dang, never saw this before! You da fan.

  • Lindsay Buckingham representin' MATEO!!!.

  • Rolling Stone still hasn't allowed Linda Ronstadt and Pat Benatar into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. I'm not surprised that Lindsey didn't make their best guitarists list.

  • @tomthefunky He's underrated in the fact that if you ask people to list who they think are the "great guitarists of our time," he will RARELY (if ever) be mentioned. Instead you'll hear a variety of people as diverse as Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen (wtf, seriously), Eric Johnson, and assorted others. Rarely do you hear Lindsey mentioned in such a list and usually, he's better than HALF those names you WILL hear. I bet if you Googled it, you'd see...bet he never shows in any list.

  • @kcgirlgeek

    You're absolutely right.

  • I agree - In some Rolling Stone "100 top guitarists of all time" silly issue, his name wasn't even mentioned. I know a lot of his early guitar prowess was relatively hidden behind electronic noise and other production things in both Mac songs and his solo work, but if you ever see him play live, he's on fire! And his recent work totally proves that! Wish he was still a household name to the average listener rather than just fans!

  • Wow, what a great interview Merv conducted(was b4 my time) but loved how LB was modest as well about FM's success. TY for posting!

  • saw lindsey in mesa arizona with dad 3 years ago. there are no words. he played a song called "red robin", can't find it anywhere. he played in a small amp.; you can't get better then that!!

  • @4windriver You sure you're not thinking of 'Red Rover' from F.Mac's 'Say You Will' album?

  • GOD he's one of the most beautiful men ... EVER !

  • @sorcerer1975 He was, and still is incredibly handsome!

  • " won't u lay me down in the tall grass and let me do my stuff ... "

  • This guy is a great interview. Thanks for the posting!

  • my god this is an amaazing interview ! how did you come across it ?

i love at about 5.15 he just quickly plays the guitar haha

  • Lindsey is damn good! Love watching him do his stuff.

  • I agree. (:

  • Very very nice to see some footage of an interview with Lindsey. He has GOT to be the most underrated guitarist of all time. He's phenomenal. He pretty much blows away any other guitarist of the time, and most of them from today too. He's just....freaking amazing. (Merv Griffin, on the other hand...I had forgotten what a crappy interviewer he was. lol)

  • Glad that you enjoyed this!! Thanks for your great comment!! I agree ~ He is phenomenal!! (:

  • @kcgirlgeek I agree! And I think it speaks volumes that when he did leave Fleetwood Mac it took not two but THREE guitarists to "replace" him!

  • I can't believe Merv actually said Lindsey was "responsible for the CREATIVITY" of the other band members. WTF? ROFLMAO Sure, he produces, mixes, he does a lot of different things, but to credit him with the CREATIVITY of the other members? What an idiot.

  • @kcgirlgeek Before Buckingham The Mac sounded quite different. Both Lindsey and Stevie greatly contributed to the success of the band. Interesting fact however, after Buckingham had left Fleetwood Mac and his amazing album Out of the Cradle was released in 1982, a sticker on the cover proclaimed Lindsey Buckingham as "The architect of the Fleetwood Mac sound." So Merv wasn't that far off.

  • he looks so much like marc bolan on that interview its mad!

  • masterbaker1 ~ Sorry, but I don't see it. (:

  • Very cool!! I love that he mentions the bay area and certain cities. I am from san jose (still in the area). Thanks for the awedsome vid.

  • You're VERY welcome. Thanks a bunch for viewing my video!! (:

  • Thanks for the excellent footage of Lindsey!! He's my favorite!!

  • You're VERY welcome. Thank you for your kind comment and for viewing my video!! (:

  • I think he temporarily turned into Albert Brooks here.

  • What? (lol)

  • I was mostly referring to the fro.

  • never saw much video footage of Lindsey before. ;) did he say he was from northern Cal? just watching and listening to him here, it's as if he's from the Valley!

  • Yes, he is originally from northern CA. ~ Palo Alto/Atherton up by San Francisco. Thanks for watching my video and for your comment!! (:

  • that's cool! ;) you're welcome!

  • awesome..thanks

  • Thanks so much!! (:

  • Cool find! Really insightful. Thanks!

  • You're VERY welcome. Thank you for your kind comment and for viewing my video!! (:

  • With out a Leg to stand on brilliant track wish Buckingham Nicks was on CD. Lindsey is a great singer and musician.

  • I agree. Thanks for your great comment!! (:

  • When I was 18 I permed my hair and grew it I looked a bit like him and my girl was a bit like Stevie, I had the same nice dark hair etc.

  • im quite proud to say me and lindsey share a b-day! hes the man

  • That's AWESOME!! You're so lucky!! (:

  • Where's the performance?! Would love to see that! Thanks for sharing this footage!

  • Sorry, but I am not able to post it due to the whole copyright thing. (See my description.) Glad that you enjoyed this great interview. (:

  • Oh I think it would be fine really to post the performances. Whats the worse than can happen, get them removed? There are so many Lindsey performances still up.

Quality - if its bad, is understandable for something so old in terms of videotape. Stuff like this is share for historical reasons and helps promote old work still today. The only other artist that really shoots himself in the foot is Prince and I dont think Lindsey has gone that insane...!

  • I know for a fact that they will be sited since someone had posted the two songs in the past and they were both yanked. Sorry, but I don't want any violations. I would LOVE to post them, but it's just not worth it.. (:

  • Okay, I understand. You know us Lindsey fans! We're persistent!

Thanks for your replies and sharing these great vids!

    ;oD

  • You're VERY welcome. Thank you for your kind comments and for viewing my videos!! (:

  • Lindsey is a real creative cat. Thats what Ive always dug about him, his iconoclastic musical concepts.

The flying V (is it?) orchestral 40's influence can be seen in his video for Trouble, and the cover of the album, the 40's like photo. Cool factoid!

  • Thanks for your great comment!! (:

  • So "Rumours" did 16 million in the first 4 years of its existence. Since then its done about 16 more. Hmm. I have had the "Law and order" Cd for many years, but didnt really like it. I love especially "Out of the cradle" and I really like"Under the skin". Maybe I should have another listen to his solo debut since Merv says he loves it... Thanks for the video. Did you tape it in 1981?

  • I like his Law And Order album, but my fave is Out Of The Cradle. I got this clip via a past trade that I did with someone. When this show aired back in 1981, (sadly) I wasn't able to watch it since it wasn't available in my area. I remember being so upset about it. (:

  • Hey, do you happen to have the video for "It was I" recorded? I haven't seen it a long time ago.

  • Yes, I do, but I can't post it due to copyright reasons. I know that it will be sited and pulled if I did. Sorry. (:

  • Lindsey and Stevie have always made the point that making solo albums around Fleetwood Mac albums is what has given Fleetwood Mac is longevity.

  • thank you so much for that rare video! I love Lindsay, greetings from Brazil/Italy

  • You're VERY welcome. Thank you for viewing my video and for your kind comment!! (:

  • Another great interview with Lindsey Buckingham! He is so nice looking and I really love listening to him:) Thanks for another great post biglindseyfan77...You find the best of Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac videos!

  • Thanks for your great comment and for viewing my video(s)!! You're VERY kind. (:

  • "how angry are they with you lindsey that you have done with dastardtly thing and put out your own album?"

had Bella Donna come out yet? or was Merve living under rock. lol

Lindsey has the most gorgeous curly hair ever. :)

  • I LOVE that curly hair of his too!! (:

  • I'm a big f-mac buckingham fan but tusk

    was a huge mistake.

  • Oh, I loved the Tusk album. I guess to each his own. (:

  • Fanastic! Fascinating! Thank you!

  • You're VERY welcome. Glad that you LOVE this one as much as I do. Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • I love this interview because its fairly devoid of typical Lindsey filler statements. He's relaxed more than usual. My favorite part is the "Well thanks Cal" portion. Thanks for posting!!

  • You're VERY welcome. Thanks for another great comment!! I agree ~ He does seem more relaxed than usual. This is one of my all-time fave interviews!! (:

  • I remember this interview! The guy next to him was from a music trade mag called Monday Morning Quarterback. I think this episode was also the first time I heard mention of the "Compact Disc Player". At the time, I thought they said that the CD would be able to hold up to four hrs of music, but I could be wrong. Lindsey also played "Trouble" and "It was I" on the show. Thanks so much for this clip!

  • Glad that you love this one as much as I do. Thanks a bunch for your comment!! (:

  • i remember seeing this when it showed back in the day. its nice to see it now and really delve into it. i have never seen lindsey so relaxed and funny. thanx for posting!

  • i don't like his hair

  • I do. I think he looks GREAT in this interview!! (:

  • This is one of the best Lindsey Buckingham interviews I've ever seen. He's so relaxed and natural. Thanks a lot!

  • I totally agree with you. Thanks for your great comment and for watching my video!! (:

  • This is one interview where Lindsey seems more talkative and open. And he always well spoen.

  • Thanks for your comment and for watching my video!! I agree ~ He is always well spoken. (:

  • you should post the songs however bad they are.. thanks for this!

  • Believe me, I wish I could. Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • I love how well he explains himself. From early on he has always sounded so centered & seems to know exactly where his head is at. You'll notice though, after about five minutes of talking he seems like he's had enough, & his fingers get itchy around 5:11, I had to laugh at that. Still he is so polite & like Jackie says, very down-to-earth, for someone of his stature. Thank you Jackie, this was really a great snapshot from that time period.

  • You're VERY welcome. Thanks so much for your comment and for viewing my video!! (:

  • i have heard of this interview and read it i've always wanted to see it YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Glad to hear that!! Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • Wow what a great interview, I love it, Thanks very much Jackie.

  • You're VERY welcome. Glad that you love this one as much as I do. I couldn't wait to post it!! (:

  • Is there a more articulate and thoughtful rock and roll guitar hero anywhere?

  • I totally agree. Thanks for your comment!! (:
