  • Radiohead can be so beautifully sinister

  • muse sucks !

  • Thumbs up if the grunt didn't send you, and you came of your own will via a thirst for amazing music

  • @2plus2equ5 always gotta 1up the top comments

  • Upon my first listen to this album I considered it a lesser work, but then -and by pure chance- I heard this song yesterday while I was in a bar, that resulting in me checking the whole album today...and I'm just amazed that once again almost every Radiohead album could be in a (long) list of my all time favourite records...Hail to the Thief in particular not only includes one of my favourite songs (Sail to the Moon), but it has also turned out to be, as a whole, such a great album...

  • ahh his voice makes me want to MELT~~♪

  • Thumbs up old high rated comments so I don't have to see that guys' butchered english comment no more.

  • everyone thinks that this song is about the media but it is obvious that its about vampires, you stupid!

  • THUMBS UP IF THE GRUNT DRAWING SENT YOU HERE :)

    Amnesia for the win :D

  • @DUSKvsDAWN HOW DID YOU KNOW. Amazing!

  • @haganeNOmozzekun why is it so amazing? O.o

  • @JOLLYJOEY101 point "not taken". i expect an apology from Curb1109, his comment IS racist and if he is one he should just accept it no one cares anyway, what's the bloody point of this any way, let's just carry on mates

  • Reminds me of Mingus - Freedom. Great tracks.

  • 8 years after first hearing this song i think it has just recently become my favourite radiohead song :S i just cant hear it enough

  • i have no problems with this song, but i think if they leave this and the gloaming off HTTT, it would be a much more popular album.

  • The tempo to this song is Larghissimo, (very, very slow) 20bpm or below, its like 19-20.

  • This would be the theme for Amnesia the dark decsent or Alien

  • i've got the best idea ever for a music video for this song, but i have no possible way to do it.

  • Smile and Die.

  • 102 517 views? how is it even possible that masterpiece like this has such low view count??

  • @KainDeadraiser I don't get these comments. Do you have any concept of numbers? That's a lot of views.

2:58 is still fucking immense years later.

  • get shivers everytime i listen to it. good shivers.

  • To me its about the social engineers and faceless multinational corporations that act as vampires in the global community, draining the world of its resources and sapping humanity of its spirit. Sort of keeping in line with the 1984 theme central to the album. If I didn't want to fight these things I would have ended myself long ago. "As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities." - Voltaire

  • @idiotequeiceage i agree wholeheartedly with what youve said, im too hung over to elaborate on that, and i think if radiohead stopped making music i would end it XD

  • that album cover is so fantastic!

  • Whenever somebody asks me why I'm a vegan, Í show him this song...

  • WE SUCK YOUN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

    DON'T FORGET IT...

  • To me this song is about old people, they have society under their hand, like the clapping noise...gives me shivers.

I live in central Europe and the old are so mean, calculating and just...slimy..ugh I love this song for it

  • during this song we kissed...i never forget u my star. never!

  • It also describes my situation very accurately . . . during the first few verses

    Begging for a break . . .

  • This song and picture makes you feel sick whilst and after working-out . . . I shortly, a moment ago, almost passed out and threw-up; so I had to lay down

    Good song, though . .

  • there is no way that pajaritodelodio is an english teacher

  • @JOLLYJOEY101

That's not true. First of all, being from Peru is not a race. That makes my comment discriminatory, at most. And it is true that English teachers in foreign countries can be pretty bad at English, so being from Peru could explain his spelling errors.

  • @Curb1109 i'm sorry i was drunk when i wrote that comment but believe me, i think i know more about your native language than you do

  • @pajaritodelodio

Funny, you know Dutch as well? Better than I do? Impressive. And no, my comment was not racist as I've explained earlier, so you're not getting an apology.

  • If you guys like Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Jeff Buckley, Muse...check my band White Note by clicking my channel whitenotetheband. Let us know if you like it :)

  • WHOAA!!!!! i played this... and went on some other tabs and then 2:59 HAPPENED.

I'd had thought this song was about to be over. but WHOA!!!

shouldve expected no less frm a radiohead song.

  • Are you strung up by the wrists?

  • I accidentally flagged this video!! Fuck my life :(

But anyway this song is just as creepy as climbing up the walls, i love it

  • I am 26, i am an english teacher in peru for a foreign bussines...AND THE COMPANY HAS STARTER TO SUCK MY BLOOD....this song tells exactly my current situation....

(this song is not about "suchikg blood" this song is about how companies and bussines take advantage of new comer professionals, and even old proffesionals

this song is about the disgreaceful sense of humanity of companies that they have to theyr employees)

  • @pajaritodelodio You're an English teacher?

  • @encyde

In Peru, explains a lot ;).

  • @pajaritodelodio for an english teacher, you have some rough spelling

  • @jepedo91 Dude, that's called "typo", and, regarding that, I've seen English native that spell worse.

  • @jepedo91 I am 27, i'm an english teacher in peru for a foreign bussines...AND THE COMPANY HAS STARTED TO SUCK MY BLOOD....this song exactly explains my current situation....

(this song is not about "sucking blood" this song is about how companies and bussines take advantage of young professionals , and even old professional

this song is about the disgraceful sense of humanity that companies have they for their employees)

  • @pajaritodelodio not just that, I would say... It's about how we dreamed with a great world and this is what we've got! and WE CAN'T MAKE ANy DIFFERENCE... that's why we suck...

    my humble opinion...

  • @pajaritodelodio This song is not about companies. It's a sign that the member of radiohead put out in hollowood as a joke looking for actors. Hence "We want young blood". "Are you begging for a break?"

  • @pajaritodelodio and that's why I am disappearing into music and ignoring the illusion of 'growing up'.

  • @pajaritodelodio i wish english was my second language so i could put english words together as well as you did

  • @pajaritodelodio

You're an english teacher? You can't even spell!

  • @pajaritodelodio Fun to see an english teacher spelling like shit haha.. It's like what the fuck are your students supposed to learn when you don't know english?

  • @pajaritodelodio why does your comment have so many thumbs up? it's rubbish..

as an english teacher you'd think you'd be able to speak english? ... anyway... thom has stated before that this song is about the home towns of young people sucking the life out of them and not letting them be who they are... that's what it's about...

  • @transatIanticdrawl

he's also stated it's about the record industry and how labels just want to suck the life out their artists. throw in the shiniest new faces, churn them through the machine, make a bunch of money and start again with someone new.

  • @pajaritodelodio For an English teacher, you sure speak a lot of bollocks. Try teaching that..

  • @pajaritodelodio Please learn English before you teach it.

  • @ariahimar Let them bleed, son. Maybe that'll improve your musical taste. This song was not meant to be easy to listen to, like the rest of the elevator muzak you listen to. This song was meant to cause shudders. To make you THINK.

  • @ariahimar What did you expected, disco? GTFO

  • @ariahimar What did you expected, disco? GTFO

  • One of the most underrated radiohead songs from one of the most underrated albums. You always hear people talk about Creep, P.A, Karma police, Reckoner, Idioteque etc. but this in my opinion might be the best radiohead song ever.

  • @waaromzomoeilijk my favorite is between kid A, airbag .... (lists all of radiohead's songs).

  • its how we operate, or can operate, we suck young blood, ill let you decide what young blood is, everything has young blood, track to me sounds like a reaction to seeing us drinking young blood.

  • @howie094 and you sound like a fuck wit trying to act more retarded than a real retard so fuck off you worthless retarded arsehole and dont give me your retarded opinion

  • this song is so fu*ked up its stupid it sounds like he is dieing

  • @TheEvilstonedmonkey youre so fucked up and stupid to attemp to catch attention cause no one gives a fuck about you and when you get insulted by people you think they want you. truth hurts

  • @ReyCarmesi97 go fuck your self you cunt i really dont give a flying fuck what people think of me so you lose cunt hole

  • @TheEvilstonedmonkey i hope you choke with a dick and then die. you sound like a kid of 12 , asshole . hope you know that we dont give a fuck about your opinion and then you can go buy a pogo and shove it in the ass. die

  • @ReyCarmesi97 go fuck your self cunt you think your tough behind a computer screen fuck off . if you have a daughter i would keep a eye on her all the time she might go missing soon

  • @TheEvilstonedmonkey probably. how bad you are , damn u scare me

  • i see drug reference here...

  • No, this isn't about vampires, stop taking literal interpretations of songs. If you want literal songs listen to Miley Cyrus.

  • Obviously Radiohead's a big inspiration for Miley Cyrus.

  • @diln5 BAHAHAHA, pure genius!

  • Mon dieu c'est tellement intense !

  • still trying to realize what he stole. come here, looking for a bit. chomp chomp. still trying to realize what he'd done. hail him up, for the one reason only and that is to smash him down. can't smash him down & done til i first lift him up. oh yes, hail him. please do. it's the worst crush he's ever known and the best blow i'll ever give him. can't wait. get to hailin'.

  • this is fucking doom.

  • Probably the creepiest Radiohead song in existence. Love it.

  • @Arthurius707 nuh-uh, that would definitely be pulk/pull revolving doors or fitter happier o_O

  • this whole record is just as good as ok computer and kid a, some days i prefer it

  • myley cyrus wanted to meet radiohead?......seriously.

  • would you do anything?.... i love how he sing it

  • scary song by radiohead...

  • The older we get the more we crave the young blood.

  • haahha my bio teachers name is mr youngblood

  • The views are 66,969. I the only one who trips out at that?

  • The vampires must be proud for listenin this song

  • Hail to the Thief is an underrated album period. You can easily compare it to Kid A.

  • This gives me the same chill that Tom Waits' "Bone Machine" album does. Evil, creepy, morbid... yet beautiful.

  • For some reason, this reminds me of Lord of the Rings ... orcs, specifically.

  • @phantasmbunny This song is describing a power that preys on people. If it's anything to do with Lord of the Rings, I would say it's simply the Ring.

  • @sobeita I don't actually believe there's any *intended* connection to LotR. The questions about "sweet" and "fresh" just makes me think of that moment in the film when the orcs are discussing eating the hobbits. Or Gollum and his fish. There's another Radiohead song that reminds me of something Wormtongue says, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. "Black Star" maybe.... I don't have LotR on the brain, I swear. Only Radiohead has this effect on me.

  • Gothic!

  • happiest song ever

  • Seems to be about all of the 'energy vampires,' sometimes also called 'psychic vampires', who swarm across America. People who feed on the life force or energy of other people - in this case children, 'young blood' - for the enrichment of themselves.

  • I'm a big metal head but i've gotta say this is more sinister than the vast majority of metal i've ever heard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kingoftheswing000 many think that because that metal soundheavy it agresive and hatefull and creepy but it all goes n the escence that the song gives

  • @kingoftheswing000 I love Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Decapitated, Machine Head and all them lot, but Radiohead are in my top 3 bands of all time :)

  • @

No one cares that you took a break from listening to awful music to listen to actual music.

  • @deengew Oh wow !!!, another narrow minded elitist prick on youtube who feels the need to display how superior his point of view is.....how delightful !!! :)

  • @kingoftheswing000

Looks like your coming down with something, sir. Yep, looks to me like a classic case of 'being mad'

  • @deengew Please learn the difference between "your" and "you're", on the basis that it's not very fucking hard.

  • @Saltistic

    aspergers rage, confirmed mad

  • @deengew True I'm nervous, but why do you think I'm mad?

  • @Saltistic E.A. Poe. Sweet.

  • @kingoftheswing000 im a metalhead too , man you got to check portishead , its darker than black metal

  • @kingoftheswing000 yeah, nothing else is like this and nothing can sound like this

  • They got the clapping from Charles Mingus' "Freedom"

  • my blood is sour...(doctor told me) :p

  • I seriously love this band...specifically Thom. This song is so creepy. I feel as if I'm being slowly taken down into the depths of hell or something. And that fast bridge section makes me think of someone trying to escape but captured again. I don't know. I just love it. Thom is so friggin' phenomenal....just genious. I would give anything just to be in the same room with him and watch him work/compose. It'd be like watching Michelangelo sculpt.

  • @tlknott 10-4 mate

you just took my thoughts and put them in words

  • @tlknott i like the comparison of the escaping and then being taken back again haha i can totally see that! i'm surpirsed they havent played this live in any recent years. the last time im seeing on youtube so far is like 2003

  • This song almost sounds a little like something off Tim Burton's films. not to say that it sounds like Danny Elfman, It just feels like something that would fit into one of his more creepy movies. Also, vampires FTW <3

  • 2:59 = blood spills all over the place

  • My blood type is B-posotive :D

  • @TheHail777 No, it's B-quiet. At least until you learn to say something interesting, and spell it correctly.

  • @YouthComplex sorry i was donating blood...so i was feeling a little light headed and i ate like 4 bags of cheeze-its :D

  • This song is haunting, its so fantastic !

  • love this song.. in a world that sucks your blood

  • Very Vampire! Very Dracula!

  • OMG, I forgot this album lol.... feels like I have a NEW Radiohead album now! ;)

gonna check it out again !!!!

  • this song scary me :/

  • radiohead! no hay otros!!!

  • LSD song¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I've got no words to explain what i feel. No tengo palabras. I love radiohead. Is... i haven't words..... thanks radiohead

  • I love how brooding, angry, and morbid Hail the Thief is, definitely my favorite Radiohead album, so beautifully depressing.

  • @jirdimaster in the saddest way, I know exactly what you mean. Everything starts off somewhat mediocre with Sail to the Moon for me, and then it goes to Backdrifters...progresses angrily to Punchup at a Wedding, and then you are just dead with this song. :P weird, creepy but amazing.

  • beautiful song really. So emotional from the very subtle beginning, great dynamics in vocals. A real soul opener. Great for solo sunset sessions.

  • I thought this song was about cults and stuff. because I thought it said 'are you stronger than the rest' rather than 'are you strung up by the wrists' but I still like to think of it like that. it seems to go with the slow clapping beat, like a rhythm or a mantra for brain washing.

  • @qpwo6 Asking if someone is stronger than the rest does not have to do anything with being in a cult does it?

  • @ChocolateAndCheese1 well I heard that cults look for people who think they're surperior to others sometimes.

  • @qpwo6 That can describe the entire human race.

  • This song is so wonderfully creepy. I love that radiohead creates songs about so many different topics.

  • charles mingus "freedom" inspired this one..

one of my favorite mingus' songs

  • I think the paraphrase question one could make from these lyrics would be: Would you sell your soul to us just to have the basic means to survive?

  • Whoever "they" may be.

  • our veins are thin

    our rivers poisoned...

    pure genious!

  • great song...I just wish that the piano fast part was longer you know?

  • Please don't talk about retarded, gay, fan-grily movies In the presence of such music, Would you kindly? *Bioshock reference. :3*

  • @doomedtodead64 A man chooses... a slave obeys.

A radiohead and Bishock combination would be wonderful.

  • @doomedtodead64 Bioshock and Radiohead!

    Thats my jam

  • not sure at all but i think i heard somewhere that this is about... uh, music industries or model industries or whatever taking people with talent and turning them into something to make money... BUT I am not sure XD

  • @pesuhiir You're absolutely right. I watched an interview with Thom on The Culture Show (i think) and that's exactly what he wrote it about.

  • a perfect song to die with!

    T pio teleio na se 8pso0on m'ayto

    to songaki .... teleio

  • @bo0oblegum 6983456245 se periptwsh pou autoktwnhseis mhn pas makria

    grafeio teletwn exw.

  • I guess this song is about someone realizing that he has grown old. Having thrown his life/youth away. He does not really know what he wants but would like to. (and i love this song!)

  • Thom Yorke, will you marry me??

    (this is amazing)

  • this is a beutiful song...

  • I think this is about a man in a tight ass office job that is going mad in the forest and thom is talking to him and acting as a god. am I creative or what?

  • You stupid lefty tree huggers. Its about the struggle of modern man in todays society and how he struggles with them. Most of there songs are about God or love. Its way bigger then any vegan animal slaughter bullshit that you lemon sucking paranoid androids come up with. Its actually funny and ironic in a way that Radiohead could actually be considered a Christian rock band if you really study the lyrics. Remember, God and love.

  • @jvounn86 @jvounn86 You absolute retard - Radiohead is by far the most postmodern band in the world, and in being so, is far and beyond such a petty religion like Christianity. The manner in which they transverse multiple genres of music from rock, folk, punk, blues, electro, etc (even dixieland jazz) proves this. Radiohead encapsulates postmodernism in the musical format, topped off with Thom's profound ability to write from varying perspectives. Remember 2+2=5. There is no objective truth.

  • @fran22cis people like you make me rage.what makes something "the most" postmodern? do you even know what postmodernism is? and where do you get the balls to call radiohead bigger than christianity? there's probably more churches out there than there are radiohead albums. like yorke needs another middleschooler who knows nothing about what they're talking about to suck his dick.

  • @colmoses1337 Radiohead IS GOD! What christianity puts faith in, is what Radiohead bestowed onto their "god".

  • @colmoses1337 Do I know what postmodernism is? Well considering I'm one year into my doctorate thesis concerning postmodern thought, I can safely answer yes. Middleschooler? Someone from the states acting as if they were actually educated - how about you show me where your country is on a map. If you want a "philosophical" argument, I'll begin with Nietzsche and take you through to the post-structuralists you stupid cunt.

  • @jvounn86 Actually if you know anything about Thom Yorke he is a super activist when it comes to things like poverty and the problems created from it, conservation of the environment, among other things. I've never really seen a song by them that would be considered Christian. He focuses most of his songwriting on subjects like death, insanity, depression, domestic abuse, sometimes love, sometimes hatred, fear, but most of them don't even hint at a religious source.

  • I hat radiohead fans. they always say "RADIOHEAD IS THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD"

Well most of them, except for me.

  • they may not be the best band in all eternity but they are the best band in the world today.

  • Because that's often what fans do.

  • TUNE. Radiohead are the best band in the world. They truly are.

  • This song is eerily beautiful.

  • Best Song In Album.

  • my favorite off the album is probably "Wolf At The Door"

it's funny , creepy and depressing all at the same time.

I've never heard a song quite like it.

  • I agree stoptalking1090, that is my favorite part of the song. I wish they had a whole song in that style! To me, this is like one of the most haunting songs I've ever heard. And it's beautiful.

  • sweet decay

  • what's this song about?I don't get it?
