@guitarbridgecleaner being able to copy someone else doesnt make you good, it makes you unoriginal. along with talent, derek has originality, which makes him great. he took the basic blues slide guitar style inspired by duane allman and developed it into something much more. not only does he play blues, but he also plays jazz, fusion, with eastern influences mixed in as well. if you don't like his music, fair enough, but dont say he doesn't have talent. pick up a slide and try to keep up

@guitarbridgecleaner WHAT??? Yes, he was born into a musical family, but HE bought his first acoustic guitar at a yard sale for five bucks ---- at a yard sale. He founded his own band at the age of 15, after touring and playing with greats like Buddy Guy and the Allman Brothers. Rolling Stones has named him in their list of 100 best guitarists, he's won multiple grammies, and ..... oh, just check him out closely, man! Oh, he also gives back quite a bit to his Jacksonville, FL community.

@guitarbridgecleaner First of all, they have played over 3000 dates. 17 years, 200-300 dates per year. If that isn't hard work, I don't know what is. They have all paid their dues time and time again, and deserve everything they get. Second of all, he plays in all keys in an open E tuning. His playing is completely unique because of it. Listen, watch his fingers, and open your mind a little bit. There is lots of beautiful music being made by more people than just van halen and hendrix.

I think they payed their dues so if they have a little money thats good they deserve it.If you have talent like that you dont need to work.I saw him play when he was a kid and he kicked ass back then.makes me want to burn my guitars,lol
