Your Song is funny, the Colitis is not! I got diagnosed at 12! and got the bad bit removed about 29 days before I turned 17! I fell sorry for your suffering!
lol, I got diagnosed with UC when I was eleven. This made me laugh. Luckily I'm not on any meds since my UC is pretty mild but I'm having a flare up right now...fun, fun
Thank you so much posting this! I have had a 5 year battle with UC and it's been shitty (lol) I've gone septic, had 2 major surgeries, been on every single medication for Ulcerative Colitis (literally, even some experimental ones) and this just made my day to know that someone I look up to so much has this disease too. You have a lot of guts (lol digestive puns FTW) to post this :)
hahahaha oh lawdy im 16 and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis on Feb. 22nd....this song has to be the best thing that came out of this whole experience....besides the cafeteria at CHOP when i go for my remicade iv infusion every two months xP thank you for making my day. I don't feel as alone when i read the comments :)
Have i uncovered a drug that cures a severe exacerbation of UC? I was on hyperalimentatrion, they said no pain killers, I asked is there is any drug similar laughing gas-they sent up a shrink.
She prescribed Haldol. I went into remission, sent home on prednisone and asulphidine. Five years later I had another major exacerbartion with surgery. In retrospect I could kick myself for not requesting Haldol- do you have any idea how to get this out there?
I have Crohn's, a "brother" disease to Colitis, and it really sucks... BUT IT GETS BETTTER! YOuknow, after the shots and monthly day-long infusions, but you know... still better than it was. :P DFTBA
I too find that the best way to deal with this is humor. Very early on we and my doctors realized the drugs weren't working for me. I have met so many hundreds of people with Crohn's & UC. I believe they are some of the strongest individuals alive. This video is more information than humorous, but it is an excellent awareness piece about UC and my personal adventure. I hope you find it informative.
i just wanna die. i cant resist those serious stomach pains anymore. this pain is so bad. i am crying. oo. plz somone help me. no one understands my condition and no one have cure for that. ibs is killing me. wt do i do. i dont wanna live any more. cant stay my whole day n night in nasty restrooms.. i just wanna die to get rid of this, just wanna die :(
Funny song, n i understand your pain..i got this too, but dude, when your singing BREATHE.....lol, how the hell did u sing for so long with no breath???!!!
i sent this to somebody who just found out they had this as well and it sucks for the people who have had this but thx to you they dont feel alone about it either
I know my dad has had 'stomach problems' for years but I never knew that it was actually ulcerative colitis until today, so I just had to come back and listen to this again xD
I was 11 when i got diagnosed with UC and it got so bad so fast the whole large intestine and appendix was taken out i just turned twelve about 4-5 months ago.i now have an illeostomy and it is well worth getting the operation done then dealing with the pain but i only have it until october the the reversal.lucky for me i can also watch the walking dead season 2 while in the hospital! LOOL.
I am doing my health research project on Ulcerative Colitis, mostly because this was stuck in my head the day we had to pick our disease topic. Therefore thank you Hank, you makes choices easier =]
@DaysWithMel My brother has Crohn's. Before he was diagnosed, he couldn't really eat any solid foods without throwing up. :( But now he's on Remicaid (sp?).
I have a very similar affliction, not nearly as painful but i still feel for you, as I have distal Proctitis... and this song does indeed capture the diagnosis process quite well...
2) I has question: how did you start dating the Katherine? cause... I'm a nervous, fearful teenager who is amazed by poeple and how they get together:)
Yes, I really DID enjoy it. I've had Crohn's Disease since I was 5 and it really pisses me off that no one ever no knows what IBD is so I can't talk to anyone about it. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside that the Co-Founder of Nerfighteria knows what I've gone through. Thanks, Hank. <3
@xoxoMEEPoxox I kinda know how you feel. I have Crohn's too and every time I need to sit down in a store or something because of a stomach ache, my family always over-reacts and asks if I need to go to the hospital. I can't even bring it up without everything becomeing tense. When I saw that Hank had an IBD too, I got happy then guilty about the fact that I was happy about his ailment. It still makes me feel special in the way that I'm similar <3
Come to Canada. Our house in Vancouver is open to you and the Katherine and Lemon at any time, and if you want to continue living the smalltown life, there's a town in Alberta called Vulcan. Which is, you know, kind of awesome.
Dude, as someone who's had the surgery, there are options that don't involve bags. I've had the surgery done myself, like 15 years ago. They take part of the small intestine and tell it to do what the large intestine used to do. It...it's a last option, but you're not doomed to a bag.
When I was 3 I had digestive problems where I would be constipated for weeks at a time and I had x rays and blood tests and everything tested and the reason was that gas was easily trapped in my large intestine and when they relized what my problem was I had a liter of gas in my large intestine(It was painful like oh my gosh my stomach is going to explode)I don't have memory of how it was solved. Due to that now everytime I get nervous I have some kind of digestive problem and it hurts
Ulcerative Colitus - Has anyone ever looked into some of the extraordinary healing claims, and for that matter anyone try them? I detect a few which theoretically sounds promising. I look forward to hearing from you, MrD =)
my bro has this well had he had his colon removed and his small intestines reconnected to the same spot and part of his small intestiestine now acts like a colon
im 12, i started having problems when i was 10 and younger, i was in hospital on xmas day and coudlnt have anything to eat, i was very weak and had an operation the next day, i have been better since then but i have to go to hospital tomorow coz somthigns wrong! ahhh wish me luck lol! I love this song!!!! Hahaha
@rebekah2010dance Kinda hard to make fun of something you suffer from yo. He's not making fun of it. And most of the people who have commented here (me included) have or had UC ourselves. You're not alone.
This song mirrors my experience in the past year so strongly.
I was diagnosed with Chron's in January, have had 3 operations since, and not massive amounts better. To make it worse - the stupid medicine company changed the formulation of the Mesalazine granules i'm taking (that were working *percfectly*, so they don't work any more and there's nothing i can do about it.
I have crohn's disease, very similar to ulcerative colitis, and was happy to know that i'm not the only one going through horrible flare ups (surgery). Thanks Hank!
My boyfriend has this and it was a horrifying experience for both of us. We are both uninsured and swimming in bills. This song made me smile and then it made me sigh. Thank you.
I dont have pain or flairs anymore. watch my video on Acne and UC. i had 2 colonoscopies by 16 yo and by 18 i was free of the horrible pain i had from UC. Good luck
I like ur vid, Ive had ulcerative colitis for 4 years (got it at 18, now 22) and am right now expierencing a horrible flare up. Thanx the song was good, basically everything im going thru right now/have gone thru
Thanks you for making me feel better about my colon. I was diagnosed earlier this year, and this made me feel better. Also found out I have liver disease which is somewhat related. Thanks bunches.
I like this song and i thought it was pretty clever.hey guy I've made a website for ulcerative colitis sufferers come checheck it out at dietforcolitis net
I have Crohn's disease, which is kind of like UC. I think. But anyway, I'm 17 and I've already had the fun experience of having part of my intestines removed! And I have a nice big scar to show for it. I suppose at least I'm lucky enough to have it pretty much under control now, though... Fun topic, I know.
@CallMeToast If you have Crohn's then you have it a lot worse than UC. Crohn's is far more damaging and can extend to sores in your eyes, mouth, genitals, joint pains, liver problems, fistulas, abscesses, etc. I would trade my Crohn's for UC in a heartbeat.
so here's another question: i'm what one would call "commonly constipated", so could that turn into ulcerative colitis, and if so would eating more fiber prevent that?
For everyone who has ulcertive colitis there is a facebook group called ( I have ulcertive colitis) if you want to join please do so lot of people who you can chat too and support
omg i love you!!! everything in your song made me go "holy crap thats true!!! ha ha" lets be honest we have to laugh at our situations sometimes or else we just go nuts-o! thanks for the laughs : )
LMAO.... I am study nursing and am focusing on UC - this clip not only gave me a patients perspective but helped me learn in a fun and interesting way... well done...
FYI """""""""did any one try thee pill ACCUTANE???? ,, i believe its 4 acne ,,,, i just saw a tv ad about ACCUTANE and how its cause ULCERATIVE COLITIS AND CROHN"S DISEASE!!!!! ,,i was told i had uc 4 about 1yr now ,,, and it sucks !!!!!!!! am just looking for a cure !!! or why it happens !!!!!! well at least we have something ,, now ,,, sucks for me cuz i never use this pill !!!!!
I know some small piece of this; just the embarrassment of IBS, walking home convinced you've just shat yourself and hoping to god you don't run into anyone you know.
Just gave up on the idea of personal dignity, i try to keep up the facade of it, but I've accepted I'm human.
ive had ULcerative colitis for..god..4 or so years..finely got my colon removed last year...still..screwing with it...never friggin ends..lol awesome song made me laugh like hell
Since we can't beat it, we might as well laugh about it! Loved the video and the song, it made me chuckle while I'm in the midst of my latest flareup... : )
i think i might have it but i need to know what the pain feels like to be sure
does it feel like your colon is being twisted into a smooth paste?

I have Crohn's disease, which is kind of like UC. I think. But anyway, I'm 17 and I've already had the fun experience of having part of my intestines removed! And I have a nice big scar to show for it. I suppose at least I'm lucky enough to have it pretty much under control now, though... Fun topic, I know.
CallMeToast 1 year ago
@CallMeToast If you have Crohn's then you have it a lot worse than UC. Crohn's is far more damaging and can extend to sores in your eyes, mouth, genitals, joint pains, liver problems, fistulas, abscesses, etc. I would trade my Crohn's for UC in a heartbeat.

I have UC too...and I don't like it.

so here's another question: i'm what one would call "commonly constipated", so could that turn into ulcerative colitis, and if so would eating more fiber prevent that?

Excellent song.
I know some small piece of this; just the embarrassment of IBS, walking home convinced you've just shat yourself and hoping to god you don't run into anyone you know.
Just gave up on the idea of personal dignity, i try to keep up the facade of it, but I've accepted I'm human.
