I like the swedish song more, but this song is also very good! France should sent this entry in 1990, because the italian song wasn't so good like this.
very talanted, and a beautiful song. But the song is a bit boring though. I think that sweden deserved to win, even though france had a very beautiful song.
Winner on the night and one of the best eurovision songs. France have had some great songs and still just dont get the votes. Even this year another great song should have been in the top 3. With all of the eastern europe blocks I think France should try an song in English... They would probably walk it if they they kept the standard of some of these great songs.
Part 2: 1982 Germany: Nicole - Ein bißchen Frieden 1983 Israel: Ofra Haza - Chai 1987 Ireland: Johnny Logan - Hold me now 1990 Italy: Toto Cotugno - Insieme: 1992 1990 Spain: Azucar Moreno - Bandido 1991 France: Amina - Cest le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison 1995 Norway: Secret Garden - Nocturne 1996 Ireland: Eimear Quinn - The voice 1997 U.K.: Katrina & the Waves - Love shine a light 1997 Turkey: Şebnem Paker & Grup Etnik - Dinle 1999 Germany: Sürpriz - Reise nach Jerusalem
By the way, I've made a top of the 25 best songs ever in ESC, according to their relevance and/or my taste... I hope some of you agree & sorry to have to divide them in 2 or 3 parts. I'll post above since 25 songs don't fit in the 500 characters limit here.
Abba-maniacs voted for one of the worst winners of the last 20 years, as they did in 1999. And I actually love Sweden (I know it down South from Ystad and Malmö and up North to Kiruna - I lived in Copenhagen by then). And I love Abba too! Not so much the song with which they won the ESC, anyway they're actually amazing. But this was very very unfair.
This is one of the best songs ever in the esc for a number of reasons
1) no gimmic...give that woman a scarf and she has more dramatic impact than 6 dancers sparks flames whatever
2)this song is timeless. It sounds good today and will in ten years, its not dated like 99.9% of eurovision songs...in fact unlike other eurovision songs like waterloo its also ageless.
3) this woman is everything a woman could be and should be. Nobody that covered has ever shown such sex appeal
Flawless song in every way. It did win but got beaten on a tie break.A true misjustice to France, who raised the bar with this unique song, im sorry that we cannot turn back the closk.
This song is amazing! It should have been noted as France's last ESC victory; deserved it as much as Carola, except this is a real song, not just an impressive jigle you can dance to.
wonderful voice wonderful song, as it usually happens in Eurovision song contest the second place is better than the winner. the swedish was the typical stupid song that nobody remembers after that night
The song is fantastic, but as a Swede I'm not very eager about admitting that there was a better song than "Fångad av en stormvind". I understand why they got the same amount of points.
J'ai connue cette actrice-chanteuse dans le film La uit sacrée, avec le grand Miguel Bosé..Elle est exeptionelle!! Et aussi Miguel..Malheuresement en Italie elle est peu connue mais je l'aime beaucop.
This song should have won the Eurovision Song Contest that year. It was much better than Sweden. The Swedish song was typical ABBA revamped but the French song was unique and celebrated the diversity within France and Europe. What a shame France did not win. Also look at the French song in 1990 - also second place and also a WONDERFUL song. Well done La Belle France - 12 points from Ireland
When France and former North African colonies meet together in a peaceful, positive and creative drive. This song is multicultural France at peace. I love it!
I remember when I heard this song, I was only 7 at that time, but I was so facinated by this song and by her persormance..This song has stuck in my mind since then..
Great song indeed, along with Greece's in the same year. Why do we always have to put up with the bloody Carolas and Charlottes Perrelis women singing crap every other year?
what an injustice in ESC...can you compare Fangad av en Stormvind to this one? If France would won this year, ESC would not been known as a kitsch and empty icon!
The one thing that separates this from this Swedish entry is pure class. Carola was a fantastic performer with a mediocre song, while Amina oozes class with this sensual entry. I love both songs, but feel Amina was rather hard done by. Anyway to be honest that night I was cheering for Israel! There were some real classics in '91.
Also, is it only me or did the lighting (or lack of) really irritate anyone?

This song is so unique and beautiful while Carola has great stage performance and her catchy song.
