In 1974 I tried to get Bench's autograph outside of the Astrodome in Houston. He wasn't too friendly to we kids...certainly not like in that clip of his TV show. Joe Morgan was a jerk off too. But Pete Rose really was a nice guy.

Well, I don't know if he was a troublemaker, but when you're a kid getting autographs of big leaguers, it's easy to remember who the good guys were and who the jerks were.

That's really awesome! I can imagine Bench and Morgan as jerks even back then because as a fellow autograph collector myself, they still are not very nice today. Pete Rose being nice in his playing day is very suprising though. He is nice today but idk he seemed like he would be too intense/all business to sign or have time for the fans.
