That was a golden eagle. When I went boatin down the river here, there was a bald eagle, sittin on the branch over me, watching me just like that. they have the white heads, very distinctive. He was probably eying your fish. Here they have been putting up little houses for them along the river and it really works, their population is up..
I do very well there with light tackle and a fire tiger rapala as well as small chartreuse buzzbaits. Fish the deeper holes and slower water for the bigger smallmouths. Be careful wading and don't go alone. Its a deadly river. You can easily break a leg or get your leg caught under a rock and the current pushes you downstream and under the water when your leg is wedged. Its a wonderful place to go but can be extremely dangerous. Fish there with a friend always.
Yes I find chartreuse works great in spring. Haven't tried a fire tiger rapala. I will put that on my list for this spring, thanx.
U R right about the danger, when I wade I say out of the fast water. I wade in the pools behind rocks etc. after I have casted there to be sure no fish R hidding.
Yea, I was supprised he stayed as we went by. I still not sure but I think it is a young Bald Eagle or it my be a Golden Eagle that is in a wierd stage of plummage.
I saw it!!! thanks dude! enjoy your fishing, looks like lots of fun - my job is making sure the TOC in the PATOWMACK stays bellow the EPA limits so your fishing and your contact with the water is safe!!! so far so good!! enjoy!!
wading is lots of fun to--U do swim??--anyway, get the lightness fishing tackle U can get--ultra-light to light, 6 to 8 pound line, some grub heads (1/4 oz. lead weightwith a hook embedded) and in the spring, green and orange grubs. Walmart has the stuff cheap. Fish the grub along the bottom, sometines stopping for a second, then real it in----Yes, U will get snagged on debris and rocks---if it won't come off, brake the line and tie a new one on. Morning/evening--forget mid-day..D
An immature eagle can be a pain. Putting loads in your smokes, greasing the doorknob, whoopie cushions, it's endless.
