  • In term of communication usage, Symbian is the best OS i ever used. It is simple and smooth, and never fail. That's y i insist to use Nokia for my working purpose. Good job, nokia. :)

  • HAHAA OMG HE'S HOLDING A BLACKBERRY XD WWWOOOOOOOOWWWW

  • iOS apple vs. andriod top stuff.

  • Symbian is pure shit.

I'm glad Nokia will make WP7 phones.

  • lol, @ 2:10, it looks like he takes out a blackberry.......

  • does symbian have their own app store...or do they use nokia's Ovi

  • MobiThemeZcom Style Your Mobile Here

  • A year later they announce there's going to be WP7 on Nokia phones

  • You guys/gals can swoon all you want. But fact of the matter is Symbian is dead. Nokia is making Windows Phone 7 devices now. They did too little too late to keep up with smartphone trend and grab the general public. Now systems like Android and iOS have taken over. It's too bad really. Whether you like it or not there is no defense because it's pretty much done.

  • Apple may have been angry at Nokia before but think what they would say or do now that Nokia and Windows is teaming up :D

  • The PR 1.1 Software Update Makes The Symbian Experience Closer To This Video :)

  • symbian is death

  • is the sms messaging same as usual? i have to open every single message separately or is there iphone like "conversation"?

  • Why all the "hate" and fanboy"-ism"?Just sold my HTC Kaiser, tried an iPhone 3g and didn't like it (shiny, fast, but for that price the hardware isn't that special and ios isn't that good), used Android for a couple of weeks and didn't saw anything that I didn't have in WM. Now I own a S^3 device (Nokia C7) and I'm happy with it. It does everything I need in a way I like, no more no less. A phone is a tool and not your soccer club, it's good to discuss and compare features, but chill out guys :D

  • why symbian still exists??

  • I wish the phone is actually that fast..

  • @jjrosaria2 Mine is that fast (Nokia C7). The visual effects, like in the music player, are actually faster on the phone.

  • To me Symbian^3 looks better than WindowsPhone7. The minimalist theme/user interface WP7 has i find boring and not compelling. The homescreen/startmenu thing only covers 80% of the phone, while there is an empty black space to the right, and the monotone orange, or green, etc is boring. Symbian^3 looks like Motoblur, but a bit cleaner.

  • hate nokia

  • Nothing to brag about the iPhone or Nokia or Google, the war is about presenting the intended information in a way that is as simple as possible to access and interact with. Symbian based phones are way behind when it comes to this. Android (google) believes that information means *internet*...(doesn't have to be all the time!). iPhone recently introduced the copy-paste feature... yes it was a big leap (as far as iOS is concerned). Let's wait for the fourth player... Phone 7.

  • UI is good but not that appealing. I'm going to stay with my Omnia HD till WP7 and Meego are launched. After that the better one will win

  • i see impossible that symbian down in his position.

  • I am a fan of Nokia, but the las amazing phones I saw from Nokia was de 5800 and e66 (2 extremes), but after that, all that came are adjustments...

I think for business purposes Nokia rules, for gamming purpose, nokia is great, but you need to be curious to find out good games.

    I´ve got a Samsung Omnia HD i8910 (3.7"OLED, 256RAM,8GB, and SYMBIAN).

I liked the hack´s for Symbian V5 that came thru, the phone is very fast, but it´s Symbian S60v5 is powerfull, but no social skill like the new V3.

  • @francoml What About The Nokia N900 ?

  • @07liberian I don´t think N900 is a real product, too bulky, not so top-notch hardware, it´s almost like the Omnia HD i8910 (Symbian) but a lot bigger and with a software that isn´t so popular to have many apps.

I think N900 is good, but not great and MeeGo needs more soft... let´s see next Nokia Phones with 512MB RAM... and at least 1500MAh of battery.. I hope nokie get´s back into the hype.

  • @francoml No Offense But I Dont Think You Know What You Are Talking About.

The N900 Is Not Alot Bigger Than The OHD, I Know 7mm May Seem Like Alot On Paper But In Your Hand It's Not A Huge Difference.

Maemo 5 (The N900's OS Not Meego) Is A Linux Based OS Just Like Android So That Means It Only Takes A Few Minor Tweaks To Turn A Android App Into A Maemo App. There Are ALOT Of Maemo Apps Now, But Not When The N900 Came Out.

N900 Is A Internet Tablet/Phone, No Symbian Phone Can Compete.

  • @07liberian It´s OK, :) But watchout the sales numbers, watchou the people who aren´t experts, they can´t do tweaks, they want a marketplace and a solution out of the box and eazy... that´s why iPhone got market... other complete cell phones needs effort from the user to get things out...

  • @francoml Yes The Battery Is Better On The Omnia Hd And The Camera, But The N900 Is Just Overall Better:

32 GB Plus MicroSD, More Virtual Memory, True Background Support Instead Of Just Freezing The App Until You Come Back To It, Mozilla Firefox Browser (One Of The Best Mobile Browsers), 4 Fully Customizable Homescreens, The Potential To Be Overclocked To 1Ghz, Etc Etc

  • @07liberian I am not saying N900 is bad, it´s just that is a phone without many software options as antique Symbian, Android or iPhone marketplaces...

If N900 is a Tablet Phone, why it has only 3.5" screen compared to an AMOLED 3.7 from Omnia (that is just a spartphone).. see, I am not pushing down N900, I just think it didn´t did success at the market as N95, e71, 5800 did... it´s sad.

  • @07liberian Also battery is lwer specs, don´t record movies in HD, etc..etc...

  • @francoml You Cant Be Serious...

0.2 Inches Is Literally A Difference Of Almost Nothing! It Only Depends If You Prefer More Of A Rectangular Shape For Your Screen Than A Square-Like Shape.

True The Omnia's Screen Is360x640 OLED But I Prefer A 800X480 TFT Screen Thats Easy To See In Sunlight Than A Low Resolution OLED That Almost Useless In Sunlight.

Obviously The N900 Was'nt As Successful As The N95, E71, And 5800 Because The N900 Was Much More Expensive Than Them When It Was First Released.

  • I perfer creating apps on Symb than I do on any other device :) Although I've never looked at android..perhaps I never will :)

  • Can my old S60 V5 be updated to the new S^3?

  • the previous symbian was so poor on the n97 i wouldn't dream of getting another phone even similar!!!

  • At least they changed the gross clock of s60

  • I love Symbian. I have got it since 2003 when the nokia 3650 was rising up, and since that time, Symbian has been a multitasking operating system. actually, nokia 5800, yes its slower than iphone, but it can do a lot of things that the crappy iphone.. just close your game, to see pictures!! its crapp!!

  • design is not everything on a mobile phone but some stupid guys think that it is... mostly apple fanbois ;)

symbian is a very good os AND it got "apps" BEFORE steve jobs thought about the iphone, maybe fanbois will cry now but iPhoneOS is just a copy&paste product of other OSs

  • I am NO iphone fanboy, but I must admit - Nokia is this all you got?

This looks SO ugly! Nokias UI designer seem to be stuck in the year 2005. this doesn't look smooth, slick and nice at all. I have the Samsung galaxy s in front of me, and Samsung(+Android) DESTROYS symbian 3 just on sight - it just looks much much better and cooler. Nokia: Go get yourself some nice graphic and UI designers - trust me.

  • nokia has been synonymous with crappy and ultracrappy hardware. i could cite multiple examples, n97 being the biggest one. i'm seriously disappointed with my n97 mini and will surely sell it after using it for a few more days. if ur quality conscious go for android or iphones. scarcity of symbian apps is another huge issue. there's no proper market. ovi store is a joke compared to android marketplace and apple app store.

  • That's right, since the revival of touchscreen-smartphones (iphone 2G and following) Nokia just missed the boat in terms of device design and UI usability. Nokia just kept producing UGLY and BULKY phones that look like toys and are crammed full of technology, but zero functionality - But Nokia, that is not what we want. And what are they designing today? JUST THE SAME, ugly and bulky phones. There was a time when nokia was No. 1 (3210, 3310...) but that's over.

  • I want Symbian and I want Nokia N8.. !!! Symbian^3>iOS 4.0

  • We want this in 5800

  • symbian 3 is FLOP!!!!

  • @lnfowar Why don't you try it before you knock it.

  • damn cant wait!

  • Hopefully a global audience receives this well. Whether or not they've had multitasking or this or that for years, Symbian^3 still looks dated. Nokia don't bother selling this in the US. Europe and Asia will receive this as the next generation of low-end smart phones built for cost-concious customers. Many question our Apple/Android obsession, but it really doesn't take much to realize that, Android at least, is King. Expect 0 US appreciation yet again Nokia. -Former American symbian owner

  • I like touch screen phones but I really can't understand that why they don't have play/pause button etc.. Well at least nokia have camera button, volume and most important but iphone doesn't have almost any buttons :/ which kinda sucks

  • when does this realse???????????????

  • font sucks lol

can't u make it abit cooler?

  • whatever you people say..my concern is not at the interface of the os..but more on the performance which means..ability to complete task with a strong battery life and uses few input to produce a larger output and it would be an extra point if it comes with a reasonable price..

  • Wonder if it is possible to download this simulation? We may be able to see exactly

what performance will be like if ran on an old low end netbook.

  • symbian is multi-platform... nokia should move to maemo for their high-end models while keeping symbian for their mid-range models...

  • @HolyNinja147 Well yeah but the point is that Symbian 3 is better than old symbians O_o but if it's not ready for some months Nokia should quickly make some mini n900 with Maemo because many peoples haven't buy n900 probably because it's pretty big

  • @isokessu every1 has their opinions... ive been using maemo for quite some time and i find it doesnt get as old as quickly as the iPhone OS does...

  • @HolyNinja147 Maemo is better than iphone OS and there's nothing wrong with Maemo.. I just said that n900 itself is pretty big so many peoples doesn't want it. Btw I guess symbian s3 takes less memory than other operating systems so maybe that's why nokia doesn't use it on every phone

  • i agree symbian is crap ui they should go with maemo, that said i have had many nokia phones and n92, n95, n86, n97 have been good phones nokia pack alot into their phones just the os/ui on them suck and we the consuer expect more from a os/ui than this n8 with android 2.1/2.2 nice

  • You know guys, it looks nice on simulation, and when you buy it it will be pure crap as mine 5800 at UI

  • Is it going to lag like hell like on n97?

  • Nokia should just drop the whole symbian thing and go one with the developing of maemo/meego because that UI has a lot more potential than symbian and looks way better. Symbian is just slowly dying, UI like Maemo/meego & android are the future, not Apple`s iphone OS because it is way to restricted

  • i prefer n900 multitasking..........

  • Everyone is excited about Apples multi tasking as if it is a killer feature. Nokia and other phone manufacturers have been doing it for years now its common feature. People need to get off this little Apple craze and LOOK AROUND AND GIVE OTHER COMPANIES SOME CREDIT AS WELL. Also This version of multi tasking looks and performs way better than Apples oo soo revolutionary great multi tasking method.

  • This s@@t too square. Here's an idea for Nokia make symbian ^ 3 customizable, Let users be able to choose between this linear kinda square s@@t and something more kinda abstract, that way the phones can appeal to a wider range of users.

  • if symbian^3 comes out.. Can I have it on my n97 mini?

  • I don't know what is all the conplainment of S^3 about.

Until this very moment, Symbian^3 has the most "well thought" UI I've ever seen. Of course they didn't create multi desktop, but neither did Android.

The player and the photo viewer looks way nicer then the iPhone's.

  • Ha ha.... Look what he is zooming at 4:22 LOL

  • @shan19key pervert assistant ...lol...

  • Nokia has so much potential with all their experience and patents sadly they are stuck in symbian...

  • damn this is wht should have been my n97 whn i bought it. Symbian is way behind all other os: android, iphone os, maemo, even palm os. They are just starting to catch up but they havnt done anything that we havent seen before and if they dont innovate no one will buy symbian cuz we can all have the same stuff but working better in other os. Also whn this is released all the other os will hav improved a lot. Sry symbian ull keep dying this slow death til u do something thts rly worth of buying.

  • Lolz. Jobs' slaves believe everything has been stolen from Apple in one way or another.

I suppose they also stole true multitasking, right amigo?

  • @superpieface12 Why do people get so uppity about the Amiga being "TRUE multitasking!", as if it was important, which it really wasn't, or like the Amiga invented it, which it totally didn't.

  • @superpieface12 Btw, Apple's Multitouch was founded and created by microsoft ))

  • @superpieface12 Hey ... What do u think of Nokia ? How dare u compare it to that I phone... Iphone is all about show and cost Nothing useful...... For instance, Say Nokia 5800 is much far better than I Phone in any aspect... Even in price.... It cost just 1/4 th of an I phone.. Use nokia & feel the difference... U guys r just wasting money buying tht useless I phone....Blah...!!1 Sorry ... I am not joking.... Nokia started Producing multitasking (S60) phones in 2004...U know ?
  • @superpieface12 Symbian always had true multitasking dude. You need to see the oldest Symbian phones, like Sony Ericsson P series. It even had a task manager. iPhone doesnt even have applications preview, as this does.

  • You may upgrade, for example a mini n97, in this new version of Symbian?

  • It seems that n97 will be upgradable for Symbian^2, but I doubt will be an upgrade for Symbian^3 because it will use an OpenGL Acceleration hardware, like iPhone or Nokia N95, N900 and GPhone.

  • Symbian^2 was skipped, and no current phones will be upgraded. Yes, it sucks, but that's it.

  • no, you can't upgrade your device but still wait when nokia release a new device

  • no you can't

  • ohhhh

  • Looks like an Andoid knock off.

  • I agree, why not make it an android OS with Nokia interfaces. Kinda like what motorola has done with the cliq and backflip.

  • nothing new compared with the demo video by nokia conversation-.- ehh

  • 1.05-1.10 david rivas said some something like intergration on the n74 did anyone else here it?

  • s60 looks fast i wonder how s40 will be....

  • Ништяк однако-ждём ждём новые трубки

  • if nokia gets this right...Then hello nokia...again. hahhaha..

  • für alle, dies es lernen wollen: leckenmuschi(.)de

  • if I'm not wrong, I saw the guy who presenting using blackberry bold. right?

  • no

    its an E72

    The Almighty's Blessings

  • you're right, my mistake. I just realized when I saw e72 camera, and I matched it with my friend phones. =D

  • n97 free upgrade please??

  • They need to upgrade for free to all the people that bought the Nokia 5800/N97/X3/X6!

I got the Nokia 5800 and i want to trow it from the window!

  • @Qixtion ahahaha.. dont give it to me :D

  • i hate this iphone buyer who have no knowlege about mobile devices and bought a iphone

    have you ever heart multitasking?

You think your iphone is the best, cause it's so expensiv!!!

No it isn't the best the best phone on the markt is the htc HD2

So my tipp for you before you buy a phone please inform you something.

    pls

    Thankyou

  • @911Abschied No the best phone is the Acer neoTouch :D but yeah the HD2 is good too.

  • Why do you think so?

In my opinion the hd2 is the best phone, because the 4,2 big amoled.

But the 1 negativ aspekt is the os

    win mob 7.

  • It's windows mobile 6.5 on both mobiles not 7.

    T

It's just the most powerfull on the market, I've got it and I've to say I'm very satisfied not so exempensive neither.

  • good luck!

  • wow , its finally here then , multitouch for resistif screens.. and of course thanks to Nokia, not HTC, samsung or anyh other.

  • Symbian and Android are the future.

  • I hope Nokia Update all S60 with this for 5800!!! I can not lose hope in Nokia!!! I trust in them to buying my phone last month!!! we deserve this update!!! NOKIA FTW!!!

  • okay so this is a major update for every symbian phone? or nokia just release a new phone?

  • This is not about obvious low-tech interface details. This is about a lightweight, multitasking version of Symbian, the leading mobile OS on this planet, and it's great news. It takes multitasking to lighter devices than ever before.

Apple is the technological midget here. My daughter has an 5800 XpM. It outperforms any iPhone in all aspects wether it be price, technology, environment, openness or privacy.

  • @hanxizaiyeyantu The technological midget still has the advantage that their products look sexy and work intuitively. Nokia's products look and function like they were designed by engineers.

  • Anybody else misread it as the Nokia Sybian? lol

  • trash...presentator is a cheater and fraudster!

  • asone . ru

  • weakly somehow, is not impressive against the backdrop of Android and the IPhone.

  • It's so incredible to notice how smartphone softwares took inspiration (or just copied) ideas of the iPhone interface.

CoverFlow... the iPhone iPod is a total rip, with less class and uglier interface!

  • Nokia will always be a step backwards in softwares and hardwares. Finally i passed to Apple and i found what i wanted, a phone that never crashes and build like no others.

  • @sprint206: Nokia is trash, Nokia was trash and Nokia allways will be trash! SE is gold!

  • after watching this i think n97 or any 5th edition resistive touchscreen device might be getting multitouch?it would be nice if it happen=D

  • the screen.... it's so longgggggg

  • if s3 get riof option and back, i would be great

anyway, nokia phones will keep on selling very well

  • Are there any nokia phone with capacitive touch screem

  • nokia X6

  • Comment removed

  • put*

  • can i out this Symbian^3 on my N97 ??

  • yay

  • well is nokia goin' for maemo or symbian^3?

  • Maemo has died, now is "Meego". Also, Nokia said they will work with both platforms.

  • well, if maemo didn't even last one single year, i wonder about the rest of the coming platforms

  • It is flawed thinking Apple can beat Nokia worldwide. Apple makes one iPhone and Nokia makes a wide range of cell phones. Everyone in the world does not want just a smartphone (or can afford one).

  • Symbian!! LMFAO. People wouldn't probably get that joke. I ride Symbians all fucking day ;)

  • He says that performance has been improved over the predecessors so it means, that thie OS can also run on those cheap €120 touch screen phones. Not bad at all!

  • apple is suing nokia 4 the multitouch. APPLE SUCKS!

  • Muito bom este novo Symbiam uma pena que para muitos celulares "antigos" este sistema não representará um avanço. Enfim que nós, brasileiros, desfrutemos deste maravilhoso SO da Nokia

  • everything is perfect but i can bet that when nokia will ship symbian^3 they will remove all the 3-D effects from it and make the UI very basic....

  • That would make for a nice htpc control interface minus all t he phone stuff.

  • as much as i like nokia.......this OS and the phone that will be running it are going to be totaly useless unless they make it possible for symbian^4 to be ported over....you know, since symbian^3 is due for Q3 and symbian^4 is due in early 2011..

  • Wow the coverflow looks exactly like the iphone...

  • i think i just saw the mouse if on hold....it creates a glittering effect! niceone! for those who want to see, go to 1:49 :P

  • still prefer android. feels like symbian is trying to catch up with the industry rather moving forward with it.

  • hmmm.........not that great

  • i wish they'd get rid of that font.

  • Nothing new or innovative but atleast they are going to be up to stardards and improve on them a bit with proper multitasking and other things.

When are they going to show us the keyboard though?

  • if only my N97 were as that fast... :/

  • Yah,where's the multi-tasking on iphone OS? ;)

Multi touch was invented by Apple(as the claim),but someone had to do it one day.

    It's evolution,get over it.

And I DOUBT you'll never buy a nokia phone again.

  • apple didn't invent multitouch, but it did buy one of the companies that were the first to develop it.

  • and they do have a patent..

  • yes, but ironically not the pinch-to-zoom gesture. I think their only current multi touch patent on phones is scroll locking depending on the scroll direction.

  • is this called symbian cubed =symbian to the power of 3???

  • ....still wont be as good as android...sorry

  • Comment removed

  • nothing exciting about this. nokia fails at innovation.

  • Good job nokia finally stepping up their shitty software, but still

Far far far from android and apple OS

  • N 900 forever!!!

  • lol Nokia is stupid like a mother f*k*r

  • Nokia was a giant back in the 90's but now HTC has grab the market by surprise so no wonder apple it's worried.

  • It's sickening how little innovation there is here. Nokia is suing Apple? I'm starting to see more validity to Apple's countersuit. The scroll bars are straight out of iPhone OS, the on screen letter cues look like they were pulled out of iPhone OS's resources...

  • So basically your saying any touch phone is a rip off from apple just because of a scroll bar and multi touch ? em i wrong

  • @1234fllf You're wrong. If the phone is using multi touch in the way Apple implemented it on their device, yes, it's a ripoff. Apple patented the technology. We like to bitch and moan, but if any of us patented it we'd be protecting it too, it IS Apple's technology and they WERE the first to implement it on a mobile phone the way they did. And I'm not saying their a ripoff from using a scroll bar, I'm saying they ripped off Apple's design for the scroll bar.

  • do u know that the multi-touch and some features of iphone which are available on other phones, well the other companies have to pay apple for that.

they have a term for it i just cant remember it.

  • Did you know that pretty much every key feature inside every mobilephone in the world uses a large amount of components which Nokia has patented? Do you know just how large Nokia's patet case is? Mobile-wise Apple has nothing compared with Nokia. The renevue Nokia gets from other companies paying to use Nokia's patented components is larger that Apple's entire mobilephone revenue.

  • I agree Nokia is very big company compare to mobile section of Apple, but look at it now I mean after the release of iPhone and Android OS the Nokia sales have gone down so bad that they are copying the multi-touch and other features from Apple. In future I don't see Nokia coming back to the top again.

  • you fucking fanboy, nokia is the best selling phone brand in the world and they have more patents than fucking apple, and atleast they arent greedy fuckers like apple trying to ripoff anyone who puts any of theyr precious little screen gestures on a phone

  • whatever man Apple iPhone's got record breaking sales in just 3 years and according to reviewers iPhone is the best mobile phone out there. I'm just a "Apple Fanboy" do anything else you have to say keep it to yourself. You know what in fucking 5 years lets see what Nokia has achieved and what Apple has. Nokia used to to be the best its not anymore.

  • lol so you think that because apple sell overpriced products and rip people off, others should follow? let me tell you something, i used to work for apple, a cost of a single iphone 3gs, including labour and parts and the package, is less than $50 US dollars. now, they sell it for no less than 400-500 pounds here in england, no matter how good your products is, you should not rip people off like that. that is the single reason i dismiss apple's products. over priced, over rated crap.

  • and dont forget, Nokia is still very dominant in the global market. they have a much bigger share than apple. because apple only sell products that rich people can afford. they put any old crap in a shiny box and sell it for a huge amount of money. have you forgotten what the original iphone was like? it had no apps, the battery life was shit, the camera and lack of 3G. it took 3 generations of devices to get here, same with Win mob 7 and other platforms.

  • well yeah, it dominates the world market except for the US where it has no name at all. and that is where apple gets its money from.

  • You are right about apple ripping off its customers I agree we pay extra for the reliability. I have 3 Nokia phones and several before that all of them just died in a year. Nokia is cheap but what do you get with it - some customization but will it last long - hell no. Apple doesn't do that with its product. Never have I heard that Apple product just died or something. When my iPhone was broken I fixed it its okay now. I have a Nokia N91, N95 & Tube right now with me that don't even turn on.

  • @seauryakumar I've heard of Apple products catching fire and/or exploding... Not just dying... going out with a bang! LOL.

But I've used only 2 Nokia phones in the past 5 years. And they both still work well even under rough use. I do not know how many times I've dropped and thrown these phones. The slider mechanism on one came a bit loose. Got it tightened up and it still chugs along. Nokia makes excellent hardware. You cannot falter them on that.

  • See that's your opinion because you have used it and u had a great experience with it. That didn't happen for me. See, my point for this discussion is that Nokia is not going to be the #1 mobile company in near future someone else will replace it and there is a chance of Apple being the #1.

  • I don't know what you mean exactly by #1... but if it is sales, how many countries can you mention where you cannot buy a Nokia phone? I can tell you quite a few where you cannot buy the iPhone. And even in those countries, Android is making its presence felt in a big way.

If its OSs... I've only used Symbian so I can't say. Noah's iPhone-Nexus One-Palm Pre dog fight should be a good pointer though. Personally, I prefer open platforms so I'd choose MeeGo right now.

  • @seauryakumar about that nokia is the biggest smartphone company in the world ( at least i've read somewhere ) but it's waaay bigger than apple. Smartphones are not only touch screen phones like the iPhone Nexus One N900 but also phones like blackberry , nokias E series and many others so Apple ain't the biggest smartphone company...

  • i've had the 5800 since it was launched more than a year ago. it's working perfectly. and only costed a fraction of iphone.
