It's only really simple if you are not a deep thinker. The composition behind some of today's modern dance makes 4 chord - riff happy - pentatonic rock sound easy to play. Only I know it's not because I can appreciate the music for what it is. You hear a heavy 4/4 thump... I hear 6 layers of highhats, a string section that wouldn't fit in the Albert Hall and a sample from the 60's that isn't just a sound, it's a story.

Most of the "artists" on this compilation are 80s holdovers making their last grasp at the start of the 90s.

If you asked anyone to list 100 artists of the 90s, who is going to list Roxette, Bobby Brown, and Extreme.

There were two parts of the 90's. The first half which culminated summer of 1994 with Woodstock2, and death of Kurt Cobain. The music was the wane of 80s pop and the rise of Grunge.

The 2nd half was the Grunge wannabe bands, Boy band explosion, and mainstreaming of hip-hop.

After 1999 it seems like everything except video games and (to an extent) TV has gotten worse. Music, fashion, commercials, politics, sports, and even the fads aren't as memorable as anything from past decades. I wish I could go back in time to the 1900s so I can see all the amazing things I missed (I was only born Jan. of 1990).

@Eatgrunts The worse for me is TV. It's funny because TGIF ended in 2000 right when the new decade began. It wasn't until maybe a year ago that I finally started watching network TV again. Hell, 30 Rock is the first thing I've watched on NBC since Fresh Prince and maybe 3rd Rock From The Sun. I think TV is coming back but I'm hoping this decade gets better. There's still some carry over from the last but that's usually how it goes.
