I remember this commercial....didn't really like the selection of music then, but I appreciate it now. Who'd a thought, this would be the last real era of good music?
Lol, who would buy this in 1995, I could see now but back then? Everyone had those tapes, buried under their nintendo games, super soakers and roaches...or at least in my case
lol, i got this cd when i was a kid. parents called the number and ordered it for me. loved the songs, i would listen to it all the time. my favorite song was the 500 miles one.
@MrJazz86 mrjazz you should really do some update, that song is US3´s cantaloop... you´ve ever heard herbie's version?? now you are going to say that groove is in the heart by deee lite is from the 60s as well bc they sample herbie's bring down the birds!!!
It's only really simple if you are not a deep thinker. The composition behind some of today's modern dance makes 4 chord - riff happy - pentatonic rock sound easy to play. Only I know it's not because I can appreciate the music for what it is. You hear a heavy 4/4 thump... I hear 6 layers of highhats, a string section that wouldn't fit in the Albert Hall and a sample from the 60's that isn't just a sound, it's a story.
Ha!....... lmao...a deep thinker? Now I have heard everything. I think you over estimate your musical appreciation and it seems you listened to much to your teacher in your liberal arts class.
I am a musician of 35 years, play many instruments from guitar to violine, to cello to drums and Im hear to tell you, pop music like this can only be for the tin ears of the simple mind. Sell out comes to mind when I hear this drivel. A story--indeed. 420 may have something to do with your stories.
Music is my life, maybe I have 'over estimated' how much I like it, probably haven't though because I love it. Yeah there's rubbish on this vid but you referred to what today's kids like. So did I. Although not a kid myself I am involved with their music. Unfortunately like others who don't use their brain you are unable understand my reply and relate it directly to the screen and not your comment. Your narrow view on music is not your fault, just a result of spending little time thinking.
Your comment was marked as spam before I even had time to reply. If you read my reply you will see how irrelevant your retort is. "I rest my case". Ha, you want people to look at my comment and scorn/agree with you? Try to keep things relevant.
There's only one thing to say about living in the 90's: Shit.
I hated all of that music then...and I hate it just as much now, but with even more passion because I remember it.
I remember this commercial well. The chick was hot.
Funny, a lot of people look back on the music they listened to back then and think "oh, god I remember that. I can't believe I used to love it...well, time to listen to whatever the radio tells me to like nowadays".
I actually remember this commercial when it used to come on TV, mainly the cable channels. I hated music after 1995 anyways. At that point I just decided to got back to my love for 80's/New Wave and forget everything else.
haha, its so weird that when I think of "90s music" I think of backstreet boys, brittany spears, spice girls, and NSync. Guess I kinda ignore the early 90s, cause when I think of these songs I think "corny 80s" :/
Most of the "artists" on this compilation are 80s holdovers making their last grasp at the start of the 90s.
If you asked anyone to list 100 artists of the 90s, who is going to list Roxette, Bobby Brown, and Extreme.
There were two parts of the 90's. The first half which culminated summer of 1994 with Woodstock2, and death of Kurt Cobain. The music was the wane of 80s pop and the rise of Grunge.
The 2nd half was the Grunge wannabe bands, Boy band explosion, and mainstreaming of hip-hop.
Very well put. Also since this CD was released in 95', it only covered the first half of the decade; and the 80's sort of carried off into the early 90's.
Lol it would've been more appropriate calling this CD "Farewell 80's, Hello 90's"
No Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, pearl jam or anything like that on those CDs, from what I can tell. They just went for the crappy songs people hardly cared about.
The early 90s were a good time. I think 94 or 95 might have been the last really good year. Just seems like everything's been going to hell from the late 90s up to now.
@AndrewKarrrrrr888882 I agree with you man. I think few things from the 2000's deserve to be looked back on with nostalgia (I don't mean NOTHING, but not a whole lot). After 1999 it seems like everything except video games and (to an extent) TV has gotten worse. Music, fashion, commercials, politics, sports, and even the fads aren't as memorable as anything from past decades. I wish I could go back in time to the 1900s so I can see all the amazing things I missed (I was only born Jan. of 1990).
@Eatgrunts The worse for me is TV. It's funny because TGIF ended in 2000 right when the new decade began. It wasn't until maybe a year ago that I finally started watching network TV again. Hell, 30 Rock is the first thing I've watched on NBC since Fresh Prince and maybe 3rd Rock From The Sun. I think TV is coming back but I'm hoping this decade gets better. There's still some carry over from the last but that's usually how it goes.
@Eatgrunts yeah id love to live without electricity. maybe that neighbour you hated would blow up in a gas explosion. and no antibioltics! gasoline wth is that?
@AndrewKarrrrrr888882 I fully agree. It was the last time things felt real. Everything now is all about cell phones, the internet, and that's it. No one talks to each other anymore.
@nintendogsyo hahaha I don't know about that one man. The early 90's seemed better. If only I was born a little bit earlier than '92 but I firmly remember most things from about '94-99. I'd have to go with early 90's having a better vibe
I do remember lookin' up this CD a few months ago on Amazon and they said it was out of stock. When I first saw this commercial, I always felt attracted to that girl and I still am.
