i had this problem with my old camera it used to do this its an insingnia well what you have to do is installl the disk that came with the camrea because it has the codecs needed if it came with one

Fml, i converted one file and it worked. So i decided to convert all the files i had which was 60. Now the audio in both the original files and old files are corrupted. Just lost all my vids.

You can also download the program called Prism Video Converter

and you just select all the files you want to convert and you can choose what file you want it to go to like wmv, mp4, etc.

Hi Brick… I just purchased a used JVC GZ MG330 HD camcorder off of eBay and it doesn’t have the software that normally comes with it. Where can I download the correct software to be able to upload the videos from the cam to my PC? I can plug in the USB and play the video on my PC, but can’t upload it and save it in as a file.

Okay... I called JVC support and they told me how to copy the video files from the camcorder to my PC without the software that comes with the camera (plus, the instructions to do this was in the user manual). I've still got to figure out how to do some editing... Thanks anyway!

nice video dude, however i think windows movies sucks and crashes all the time so i just convert mine to avi with a free program called format factory. it works excellent. it also converts to ipod and mpeg and several other formats :0)

now its says cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. I got no clue what it means

If you are having problems use the Power Cinema software that came with the camcorder to move your videos off of the camcorder and then use the software. Also make sure that SDCopy is exporting the converted file to a location that you want it to go to.

I don't know what codec, but microsoft media programs have a habit of missing codec that you have to find. Try to download the codec for mpeg video from microsoft.

I've got it worked out thanks to a jvc service adviser, and its easy. Install ffdshow. Then open up video decoder configuration icon and then from the list go to mpeg2 under format, and next column is decoder column where you need to change it from disabled to libavcodec. Then viola you will be able to import all your mod files into movie maker. Problem solved and without using sdcopy which didn't work for me neither.

Which software are you referring to? The sd copy should allow you to import video's to Windows movie maker after changing the movie to .mpg from .mod. If there's nothing in the folder in "my video's "then you have to copy a movie from your power cinema and it should show up there or check another folder.

Your complaint is that there is nothing in the folder. Which folder? Then you have to use Power Cinema browse to see your video's, make backup or copy's and you should end up with video's in video folder or try some other folder in my documents then see my video's, depending how your system is configured. If that doesn't work you may want to contact a JVC service rep via email. But i had to use the sd copy last time to convert videos to mpg. The ffdshow helped solve the audio problem.

I am not sure. I have never had that problem before. I would make sure that you have sound on the video before you import it to WMM tho to figure out whether it is the importing that is going wrong or the conversion.

okay. after all that mine converts to widescreen fine. im editing it in movie maker fine in widescreen. i publish the movie and then upload it to youtube. it isnt widescreen. what am i doing wrong?

I just do my original editing in the program that came with my camcorder (Powerdirector) and then after it converts it to avi/wmv, I do further editing in Movie Maker.

I only really use movie maker to do credits and certain special effects because the stripped down version of PowerDirector does not come with those things.

Also, I was curious as to why your videos don't look terrible in non-HD mode? If I do an HD or HQ video, it looks terrible in regular mode.

Ok, if it doesn't come up go into My Computer and you should see your camcorder in there. Make sure that when you connect your camcorder and turn it on you select Playback on computer on your LCD screen.

Hello Jeff, I just used sdcopy to convert the mod files to mpg but after the renaming the files play way too fast kaing the movies pretty much unwatchable. Have I done something wrong? Hmmm, that is strange. To be honest there is really isn't any where to go wrong with the program. I can't imagine why it would do that. The only thing I can think of is to use the PowerCinema software that comes with the camcorder to copy the files and then use SDCopy to convert them. If that doesn't work then you may want to take it back. I am thinking it might be the camcorder, but if you have the money getting one that records in mp4 is a sure fire way to have it all work for you.
