    The Tempest's land attack is different and doesn't do splash

  • @LightElementLord ya that's the problem. Toss doesn't need more air to air units, they need a strong air to ground like the broodlord. Protoss air sucks in SC2 with the exception of the mothership, which they are taking out... I don't think I'm getting this, toss will just be terrible. Marines and thors shred toss air, and mutas, corruptors, HYDRAS, and even queens are good vs air. If they take anything out they should take out the pheonix, no one relies on it

  • @moviemaster2010 actually nooo one tempest does splash at a range... one carrier would do maybe 1/15 of the damage before dieing... tempest is a more mobile psy storm it actually looks like it will break late game mutas.

Nobody calls the banelings OP because many of the banelings can be killed before landing any hits and the terran can micro his marines away behind some tanks or shit like tht... yes A moving some mutas shows the splash damage of the tempest and nobody is going to have what 30 tempest anyway but still...

    Except Phoenixes will never be efficient versus mutas. They are simply way too hard to micro properly and mutas splash will be the doom of them in a regular fight. Not to mention their cost and how much longer it takes to get a proper amount of them out.

    lol, I don't know what you're talking. Phoenix are possibly the easiest unit to micro because they can attack while moving. And they rip through mutas because the amount of damage they do to light units combined with their attack speed.

    The only way phoenix can win versus mutas is to stay in the zone where they can shoot mutas but mutas cant shoot back. It involved grouping them up and kiting, which is very hard when playing as and versus fast units.

    Look at any pro stream or game and see if they counter mutas by teching up phoenixes.

    if they have a stargate they always go phoenix to counter mutas. And once a zerg player sees phoenix they stop building mutas right away.

    Phoenix move faster, shoot faster, and do wayyyy more damage than mutas. against 10 mutas you can win with only 5 phoenix without microing. And honestly, phoenix micro is the easiest in the game.

    No he doesn't. Do you have any idea how many stargates and chronoboosts you have to spend on (easy to counter) phoenixes to even come on par with a zerg going mutas off 3 bases?

    Anyone even foolish enough to attempt a real mass phoenix build would get demolished by just a few resources spent on corruptors (which only negative side is supply cost). Phoenixes are faster and stronger, but mutas produce faster, harass better, aren't easily countered and splash a lot.

    mutalisks are the easiest unit to counter for protoss. I don't know if you play the game or not, but trust me Phoenix counter mutalisks better than anything, and mainly because they can potentially kill all of them without even getting hit.

    mutalisks only work if they surprise the toss. If they see it coming, it's game over.

    protoss has so many ways of dealing with mutas besides phoenix. stalkers +sentries rape mutas, not to mention storms and archons as well.

    That range upgrade is one of the dumbest buffs I've seen from blizzard. If the zerg is investing all his money into muta and protoss only want to get 5 or so phoenix to fight them off, then they deserve to lose.

  • @stretch90 i am not meaning to insult u. but what lvl of play do u play at and do u watch the pros? range upgrade actually will not help at all because by the point u get a fleet beacon zerg has 2 many mutas and to much damage has been dealt. the only way to deal with mass muta is blink and storm and i am very good at this personally but its now the biggest challange for toss (and arcons do not work 2 easy to magic box). The micro of mutas against pheniox isn;t hard when u have high numbers

  • @stretch90 stalkers/sentries are actually both very weak against mutas. stalkers are very low damage to light and 2 big not enough of them can shoot. required and if the mutas snipe the Templar protecting Ur base and buying time for stalkers to pull back... u have to rally units to expansions to buy time and if u just bunker down its an instant gg ... u may move out and base race but u will lose for sure. (ps masters zerg and toss player) u need to basicly match zerg in expo if hes mutaing

  • @stretch90 sorry ur wrong! yahwehtism is correct. pheniox are GREAT agaisnt mutas BUT! only to a certain amount... pros build them and then stop because once mutas mass pheniox cannot do anything. mutas split 1 a to 2 different spots u can not split and micro 2 groups of pheniox at the same time but u can do it with mutas. the damage is done and 90% of muta will return to tell the tail... storm blink and map presence with zealots rallying to oposite side of mutas is only way to handle mass muta

    Yeah, so you don't need mass phoenix. Protoss has a ton of options to stop mutas, stalkers and sentries rip mutas apart, place them in key areas in your base and you're fine.

    In so many pro games zergs will try to harass with mass muta and not have a good ground army, so eventually the toss just rolls through their base killing everything. This complaining about mutas is so overdone it's not funny.

  • @stretch90 watch the games more closely... and those are games that the zerg tries to have a ground army... the new style is mass expanding and spine crawler like mad. if u push out 100% u lose everything to mutas and by time all the spines are dealt with u have no army (because the army thats good against muta is shit against spine) and zerg can tho units away at u none stop and then pull mutas back to clean up. stalker century is SHIT against mutas (meaning they do not rip them apart)

  • @stretch90 as i said before the ONE way to deal with mutas is storm and map presence sending zealots / dts to bases away from mutas/ warp prism to try and control where the mutas are so u can defend... as well as storms need to be very well timed and if muta snipe ht is game for that base. eventually if u sit back one 2 (three if ur lucky) bases the zerg just pushes sacs mutas and goes mass broods for the win... u can no just leave stalkers in key areas it does not work against good players.

    There's lots of ways to beat mass muta, not just one.

    The standard build, stalker/colossus/sentry will beat muta ling any day as long as you're not retarded.

    That's why this buff is kinda bs anyway. It's a huge investment to get this upgrade and Blizzard did that because it's not even necessary. The meta game always changes and people always have ways of dealing with these builds. Protoss players need to stop crying about this.

  • @stretch90 lings are situational at the begining they are much needed late game all ur minerals are in expanding drones and spine till u have crippled the toss and then mutas or broods will finish it easily. and if u try to go sentry gaurdian shield u will insta lose message me ur gamertag and pin i will do the same

  • Well, some stupid morons think the Tempest will be the counter to mutas. Seeing as the Tempest has been announced as a 300/300, 6supply unit which requires the Fleet Beacon to be produced, it is more expensive than a colossus and takes longer to produce. Which means the Protoss is gonna need at least 3 bases to produce them without being overwhelmed by roach-ling roach-hydra or pure roaches. Seeing as Mutas deny the 3rd, and that's the fucking problem, we have no solution in the Tempest.

  • @FailCow but thats the thing about zerg, their units are suppose to be cheaper and faster to make and lower supply but at a cost of making them weaker. The tempest is slow so you have to abuse that. Letting someone mass up tempest is like letting someone mass up Thors almost a guaranteed lose if you do nothing about it early on. I wouldn't be complaining as much, next expansion Zerg gets a nice boost.

  • Yes, but that's because the Thor's splash isn't as big as the Tempest's. The Tempest's splash (currently) is about as big as a Psi Storm or maybe a Baneling's.
