City of Adelaide is the oldest preserved clipper, it's about to be dumped at sea for the sake of £1m by Historic Ships to leave the way clear for the Cutty Sark to take the glory.
Hi i have a very old unbuilt cutty sark model in very good condition in my possession it is 27.5 inches from bow to stern plus all pieces are in tact as far as i can tell. How much would it be worth?
@CookieSherbert Not so thankfully. She was already stripped down when the fire started. All of the rigging and decks had already been removed and moved elsewhere for restoration. She will re-open in 2011.
Massive! Enormous! Huge! It is sad to think of such a peice of history going up in flames! It is a priceless antiquity. You can build a replica, but it will never be an original such as the Cutty Sark. The salty tales her timbers could tell!

whats the point of spending millions restoring this worthless piece of firewood its not going to sail again and carry goods across the ocean , would not the money be worth spending on more worthy needs like the starving and homeless.
do you guys think my cutty sark model will worth more after this? anyone, any economist?? Less supply, same demand... Money comes in! Oh btw sorry for the tragedy...
Very Sad! I live near the cutty Sark.. i've been on it a few times, and seeing it burnt down is a Tragady. I hope they do what they say they will, and restore it. Quite alot of pieces including the artifacts, on the ship was removed for renovation or something before this, so at least their safe. Lovely ship- Thanks for having this up.
look guys im told 50% of the ship wasnt attached it was elsewhere being renovated so the lads will have it back to normal in no time. lets not worry hey.
why would muslims set it on fire? you must be a bit of a clown! or probably a muslim did set on fire if he new that boat was used for slavery then yea i would have helped him or her. is it possibale that the ship wasnt immortal like you think your lifes are coz you all ship sink in the end just like your misrable life full of arrogance and pride and think you are right how low can you go.maybe it was who done it then look to blame the muslims like the plum that you are
Thank you very much for your kind comments on my video of Cutty Sark, I like many others am shocked when I turned my tv on this morning, I am glad I took this footage 2 years ago to remind me when

@tankboy584 Sorry but I have not got a clue as to what it might be worth, all I can say is to take it to an antique shop and have it valued.

I meant carried opium.
machfron 3 years ago
As far as i'm aware she was used in the tea trade, then moving wool in the Australian wool trade then sold off to the Portuguese.
I hope she is restored.

Let's have a moment of silence for the victims
of the infamous opium trade and the opium wars.Cutty Sark was designed and built for the opium trade.
machfron 3 years ago
no it wasn't, it was built for the tea trade.
sdotkip 3 years ago
Read up a bit about the history of the opium trade.
machfron 3 years ago
what's your point? The Cutty Sark never carried opium.
sdotkip 3 years ago
That is a falsehood.Cutty Sark definitely carries opium.
machfron 3 years ago
Wether she carried tea or opium it dosn't really matter. Opium was at one time legal.
Celticswynd 2 years ago
It wasn't legal in China.Opium was yet another hideous colonial crime.
