I actually wrote the lyric about an incredibly beautiful 18 year old model I knew at the time. She had no sense of self worth .. so pretty much anyone who showed her affection could fuck her. My son is now 13 and I have brought him up listening to all sorts of techno, trance, rap and rock, but the songs Sir John put out at this time take me back to when I was 13 they were heart touching and full of feeling... you don't see that anymore.

I am almost 43 now and have never been to a concert. A friend asked me if I was to ever go to one who would I go to see." I would go see Elton" I said. My son is now 13 and I have brought him up listening to all sorts of techno, trance, rap and rock, but the songs Sir John put out at this time take me back to when I was 13 they were heart touching and full of feeling... you don't see that anymore.
I see why he was knighted.

Elton didn't write the song, and he only sung about women in 1980, etc he was in the closet big time, and I think Bill was very happy that his sister inspired a song

@jarileigh --He was halfway out of the closet by 1980 since the 'infamous' Rolling Stone interview was in 1976. It was a huge story and got picked up off the wire by many papers. I had never read the actual article until recently and it is surprising how tame it was (although the author makes some less than subtle hints). Rolling Stone used to have the full article linked to their artist page, but they seemed to have reorganized their page and the archive links are gone.

Jeannie was a gymnast, Elton dated her brother Bill who was a ballet dancer, the song is about "Little Jeannie" who was small even for a gymnast, and perhaps referring to Bill

I love this song, but it is nearly impossible to find it. I have looked in BMG and at various sources with Elton's greatest hits...it is just too hard to get. I wonder why.

I had it on one of his Greatest hits cassettes years ago, I think it was just called Greatest Hits. But I bought it in the late 80s, early 90s so who knows if you could find it again.
