  • oh yeah, what is the snare piece called she's playing in this?

  • She has the best accent!!!!

  • I'll bet she goes through a lot of wristwatches.

  • I wonder if we would like this as much if a guy played it.

  • Dude shes deaf she cqn feel vibrates i tried drums n yeah vibrate...

  • She is really deaf, she learned to play the drums by listening to the vibrations...

  • I'm almost completely stupid in my left ear and a total moron in my right ear and I can play drums!

  • She has been deaf since around the age of 12. She hears by feeling vibrations using other parts of her body, the 2 best being her feet and tummy. Also Hellen Keller was blind and deaf and she could talk as well as write, so cutemaniac1 your logic is flawed.

  • Evelyn actually not deaf, But if she really is deaf how could she talk without hear also how can she play music without hear, What a farce and she a joke

  • Evelyn Gleenie went deaf at the age of 12 - hence why she has an Aberdeenshire accent (Eastern Scotland). She has no "hearing" whatsoever and lip reads.

  • A deaf person speaking with an accent? Interesting....

  • i wonder how many drumsticks she broke??

  • @seth1987 "Hater Gonna Hate."

Some people just have to find something to attack when they encounter someone better than them at something.

  • What model snare drum is that?

  • Beethoven was deaf, when he had 46 years old.

    and still...

do i need to say more?

  • gotta love yamaha snares

  • evelyn glennie is profoundly deaf, she "hears" nothing. She spoke to my special education class. It takes NOTHING away from her. And yes she is hot deaf or not.

  • Heh, to think I go to the same school that she did that's pretty damn amazing. How she does what she does I don't know!!!

  • i met her in buffalo ny at the BSO. She was really awesome and she interacts with you with problem it's like she not's deaf at all. she is the best precussionist i have ever seen ,deaf or not!

  • GREAT!

  • Deaf-levels or not, she rocks. And kind of hot.

  • to hear stuff she puts her hands on paper and feels the beat nd tht kindaa tells her when to go.

ii didd about her in my year6 SATS! :)

im onlii inn yr6 atm so it was quiet recenttly xxxx

  • It's Pezzo da Concerto by Jovan Nebojsa Zivkovic.

Check my channel, if you want to watch the full video of evelyn glennie talking about what music is about.

(I apologize for my englisch, I'm German)

  • @Baotinvc

Danke, i've been looking for the title of this work, :)

  • Does anyone know what this piece is?

  • if thats what you think then fine. All i know, is i know completely deaf people who can talk - fine if you dont believe me. We'll just agree to disagree

  • @pepsico8 not true, have you never met a completely deaf person who can speak? i have. if they have heard one point in their life, they can speak. if they are deaf from birth, they cant speak

  • well, to be honest your ignorance is laughable. i know where i stand, so do many others and im not gonna waste my time speaking to you guys. This all started off because i find Evelyn truly inspirational and i think she has done a beautiful thing - showing that one has no boundaries. All of a sudden, people are arguing about whether she is genuinely deaf - all because she can speak. so i am stopping all this, i want no more part in this, cus to be honest its making me feel depressed

  • Shut up, you are being abusive - its only natural that i go right back at you, im not just gonna lay there and let you threat me like crap. And as for the deafness, maybe you should see the umpteen doctor's iv seen, the audiology department of my hospital and the surgeon thats gonna operate on my head so i can hear better - why dont you ask them if im deaf

  • dont dictate to me about my own condition, who do you think you are? i am completely deaf in one ear - that is deaf. screw you, you patronizing arse

  • I have to say, i am deaf myself - not as bad as Evelyn, but i play percussion too, a drum called a timba. She's so inspiring. I also have to say, i think some comments on here have been rather offensive - deaf people can indeed talk. If someone has been deaf from birth, then perhaps they cannot talk, but she clearly states she has not been deaf all her life

  • Don't be so stereotypical: not all deaf people were born deaf, and can speak perfectly well. Evelyn lost her hearing when she was 12.

  • @havah71 shut the fuck up you don't understand what different between deaf, deafness or profoundly deaf, And I guess you're profoundly daft

  • wonderful video!

who knows what's the piece of music that she plays?

  • the piece is Pezzo Da Concerto by Nebojsa Zivkovic

Dame Glennie is such a wonderful and inspiring woman.

  • @TorgeirFausken thank you very much indeed! I've seen that in Zivkovic's website there's a CD with this piece. cool!

  • In Australia Being Deaf (notice the capital D) means you are unable to understand unsable speech sounds and you can communicate in a form of sign language (Auslan in Australia) . Being deaf (d) just means being completely unable to hear. Profoundly deaf people can still hear some sounds, but cannot use their HEARING to understand speech or most music. Shes not faking.

  • you're just crap and shit comment

  • you are hard of hearing not deaf

  • Deaf mean can't hear and talk but evelyn can hear and talk she must be hard of hearing not deaf

  • Podum77 - I'm profoundly deaf because I just hear in one ear 30 per cent. In the other ear, I can't hear anything. I hear perfectly when I'm using a hearing aid (I don't know what is the term there, so, please, correct me if it's wrong). I can hear. But just with a hearing aid.

  • I just found out she's not deaf

  • She speaks really clearly for a profoundly deaf person. She has a great understanding of music and its purpose.

  • she didn't lose her hearing until she was 12 or so. from what i have heard, that makes a big difference on how a person would speak.

  • thanks xD was rather confused

  • How you can say that's pupose? Have you ever seen a deaf person? I do and I am. I'm brasilian, and I'm a deaf since I was 2 because of bacterian meningitis. I'm profundly deaf, and I speak and I hear perfectly. I'm deaf, and like Evelyn, I can do music without feel vibrations. Please, think when you say that, because you don't know everyone in the world. You can't say: "oh, she's deaf, so, she can't do music, it's impossible", because is not like it works, ok?

  • She is not completely deaf. The piece is written by zivkovic it is called pezzo da concerto I believe.

  • This is well good. Amazing

  • Does anyone know the name of this piece? Would love to know!

  • Nice ! This is Art !

  • She's hot!

  • Profoundly deaf means:

"S: (adj) profoundly deaf, stone-deaf, deaf as a post, unhearing (totally deaf; unable to hear anything) "

Evelyn has been profoundly deaf since she was 12.

  • You are denying that she is totally deaf. Just because you cannot understand how something can be so, does not mean that it is not so. Evelyn Glennie is a Scot, as am I and I can tell from her accent that she is deaf. She was NOT born deaf but has been totally, profoundly deaf since the age of 12.

  • You need to educate yourself, read about Evelyn. She has been totally deaf since she was 12.

  • She became deaf at 12. She is completely deaf.

  • this is from the TED talks shows. Great stuff.

I wish i had a video of here when she came to Columbus Ohio. Tore the feckin snare off a snare drum while playing it...it was amazing.

  • when you say "profoundly" deaf what does that mean i dont really know anything about being deaf of deaf terminology

  • Slightly hearing loss....very little deafness. Like if you put a pair of earmuffs on your head...you only can hear muffled sound of voice that lacked a high pitch vibration. There are three others classes of deafness that goeas all the way to severly deaf means pretty much a mute with no sound and no voice at all.

  • Profoundly deaf means:

"S: (adj) profoundly deaf, stone-deaf, deaf as a post, unhearing (totally deaf; unable to hear anything) "

Evelyn has been profoundly deaf since she was 12.

  • Profoundly deaf means:

"S: (adj) profoundly deaf, stone-deaf, deaf as a post, unhearing (totally deaf; unable to hear anything) "

Evelyn has been profoundly deaf since she was 12.

  • The solo is "Pezzo da Concerto" by Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic.

The Youtube ID for the whole video is IU3V6zNER4g

  • Awesome drum solo! What's it called?
