It was a wonderful kind human being, and man of God that we lost that day. But before he left us, he taught a whole generation the true meaning of the message of the Cross, of redemptive love, of nonviolence. Perhaps people now struggling for their basic human rights across the world could learn from his teachings. The man is dead ... but his words and thoughts go on. And the Power whom he drew his strength from is still there ...
Good reminder of just how far weve come, yet how much further we have to go. President Obama just picked up the baton passed down by these amazing warriors of civil rights. We must support this President and embrace change, because his leadership is empowering us to overcome complacency and create equality for everyone-remembering the competition for inequality is always present, we must stay engaged.
Hes fighting the good battle, giving it all hes got; Barack Obama is an extraordinary man!
Robin, it is a great video. It seems like when people are given a platform to play politics they will, but this is a great video and thank you. Politics aside, this is a movie about history of our country and a people. Respect that and then do as you may.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was REPUBLICAN, yes he was a member of the GOP! It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860's, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950's and 1960's
that s exactly the point Martin Luther wanted to make!
."I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
Yes, we''re all equal, as long as we re Christian?
I can't speak for the creator of the video's intent, however, I view King and Obama as different yet the same. The same in that they both carried out their Divine assignment at an epoch in human history when it was most needed.
Now if we all can find our Divine purpose, what a wonderful world it will be.

FYI, Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Hussein Obama) is trying to destroy the foundation of America under its' own fiscal burden. This will make it easier to assimilate the ever shrinking "middle-class" into the poor. This centralizes power and wealth even further, thus creating an "elitist" controlling group.
As for the Blacks, you should've listened to Booker T Washington's advice, rather than WEB Dubois.
Looking up to MLK, a self-avowed commie, womanizer, and plagiarist is just damn foolish.
I'm so tired of hearing about the man being called black, he isn't.....his mother was white, his father, black. There are other names for such a person, mixed, bi-racial, half and half, mulatto, hybrid, high yellow, etc.
Obama sucks black people got their rights they need to stop whining. Obamas approval rating is going down and then he wont be able to pass anything then the republicans will take over. Then back to normal.
I was moved! thanks for the video,,,,, I remember those days in the sixties with white skin and raised in black a family. well, I guess - I am the reverse Barack Obama.
I am showing this to my children. Wonderfully inspiring work. After the election was stolen from Gore and Kerry, and the country was driven as low as it could go, torturing people, in a horrific cruel war, and in huge debt, and we actually elected Obama, well, it was a miracle. . He is doing so much, working so hard, and all they do is lie about him. And so many are falling for those lies. But my children and I have hope for out Nation. We need to stand behind this man. God bless the USA.
Great video. I, for one, don't see the author as saying that MLK and Obama are the same or even close. He's showing that Obama is in many ways a fulfillment of MLK's dream. The Black man goes from not being allowed to attend the same schools as whites or go to the same bathroom to being elected the highest office in America.
Shame on us for allowing this radical and cold hearted person that doesn't even care for his own parents to become the leader of this great nation. I have pity on all the folks that put their hopes in Obama. He is no MLK, not even close.
Brilliant. I'm overwhelmed when I see footage of election night and I weep tears of joy. How chilling is it to look at the footage of America's history of hatred, and see J Jackson being refused entry into a restaurant less than 50 years ago. Look at how we've evolved! My grandmother would have been mortified to see me campaign for a black man, let alone see him elected president. That was the environment of hate she grew up in. Each generation gets wiser.
Your grandmother would be appalled at the condition of the black community and how shitty it is. Whites didn't hate blacks back then, they just knew what lies ahead for us white males.........guess what, here we are pretty soon we will be paying "reparations" to a bunch of no goods who have already received billions of our tax money. Great job!!! Jesse Jackson is an ignorant piece of shit that has swindled money from the government and black churches just like MLK!!
Also there is no comparing Martin Luther King Jr. to Barack Obama. MLK is 1,000,000,000,000x the man Obama is. MLK stood for what he believed in. He believed in the good of men. No matter how hard a blow was struck to alter his course he remained true to who he was.
Obama sways his opinion with whichever way the wind blows. He is a puppet and the Liberals within the congress and lobbyists are his puppet masters.
Agreed - I am rather critical of the comparison as well... sure, in the history of Black emancipation, there is a causal relationship, and that was what Robinsremixes what pointing at - I'm not sure there's more to it than that.
...while at the same time the Bush administration was working hard to make people's lives a misery throughout the third world by cutting funds to clinics that allowed abortive and similar procedures...
Seriously dude, I respect you, but if you're trying to prove that Bush is a saint, you may find yourself having to ignore a lot of facts...
As for the vid... I like the collage - obviously coloured (no racial pun intended), but nice nonetheless... I must say that it is rather over the top for my taste though - Americans congratulating themselves, and being soppy about it as well :)
well, I'm not going to start congratulating the Americans just this yet, if you don't mind... :)
Those Americans also elected GWB twice in a row, so to make that add up again, oh I'd say they have to do more than elect Obama once ;)
As for effecting global change... well, we will see whether Obama can actually manage what he set out to do - I'm hopeful, but no more than that as of yet (though I would love to be proven cynical)
Seriously people, you can say a lot of things about obama... I'm not an Obamanian either, but as it goes, it's certainly an improvement on what went before - and I'm not American, I'm writing from Germany, so I don't buy into this whole hype. But having something approaching a social democrat rather than a warmongering fundamentalist, it's certainly an improvement... isn't it?
and now I'll wait for the first person to go and screw me for saying a relatively moderate opinion :)
Your opinion is not moderate when you speak of George W. Bush as a "warmongering fundamentalist." And I do not see how your opinion on American presidents and American domestic policy is relevant when you live in Germany. If people want to live in a socialist society which is marked by more government control over just about every apsect of society they should relocate to Europe. America has risen to become the leading power in the world through its democratic government and capitalist economy..
Well, if my opinion on American policy is not relevant then your opinion of my [european] opinion is not relevant to my judgment... know what I mean? And calling Bush a warmongering fundamentalist is actually true to the facts: he started a war (define warmonger), and he is by definition a fundamentalist, since he treats the Bible as God's precise word. Btw, you should consider looking up the difference between "social democrat" and "socialist" - you may be surprised - thx tho+have a nice day :)
Martin Luther King, Jr. had a message. He almost single-handedly led an entire revolution in America and was, tragically, murdered for it.
Barack Obama has based an entire presidency on flirting with America's enemies, passing slander off as fact, and fooling America into electing him.
And, for the record, I didn't support McCain. I think both Obama and McCain were terrible choices as candidates and that neither should've been elected.
well i agree to i don't think either were great for presidency and Obama has confused alot of people he still has time to prove himself if he doesnt he will not get reelected
No it was from Bill Clinton he screwed up the Real Estate business and passed it down to bush and bush tried his best to fix it but he didn't know how and neither does Obama.
its was great other then Obama not up holding what he said but hey i cant say much its prob congress and stuff controlling what he can do and what he cant do
This video is not about comparison of two person. It is about our history. This country is the symbol of Freedom, Justice, Peace, and Happiness. It rises with many colors known as the United States of America. If we divide and hate among our nation, our children and US will fall. When this greatness of our symbol blossoms here, the world will follow. So let the freedom ring. White, Black, Latino, Asian or Native, we all are the people of the USA.If you don't like it here, you should not be here.
YOU are sooooo right !!!!! clubhouse. It is a TOTAL MISconception. they are just ignorant It's not their fault. Politicians (not all) within the political machine"SEE" Obama as a black man. We know he's not. Race is a socially constructed phenomena. That's all race is - created by Europeans centuries ago. Yet it has excruciating ramifications. I only pray that Obama's presidency will forge a "sea change" in how WE see ALL people. A "see" change.... INDEED!!
Let me just say this. I;m not racist, i'm not a conservative. I consider myself to be a moderate republican. That being said, how can you compare Obama to MLK? Obama is black and was elected prez. MLK fought for the rights of people. Obama is an eccentric politician, nothing more. For those of you blinded by his charisma, open you're eyes. I hope he does turn this economy around, but just because he is charismatic and black doesn't mean he should be compared to MLK.
i can see that you are young , and you are entitled to your opinion , all i can tell you is that its not about comparison...it has always been about equality...if you have never been discriminated against because your skin is black..you will never understand, its like trying to go up on an escalator that just keeps going down , obama is just one step closer to the top, a level in life i might never see, but i will keep pushing my brothers up,......i hope in time you will understand.....one love
Ok, i can understand what you are saying, but I just don't understand why people think he is our savior. Let me put it this way, if it was Jesse Jackson or Alan Keyes, people wouldn't be so inspired. I judging this based on the man, not on his skin color.
i dont believe it has so much to do with obama as such, it could have been any african american, the response would be the same, i think its not so much a celebration of a man (obama), as much as its a celebration of progress, which should not be trivially dismissed, its a milestone for this country that should be recognized , appreciated and celebrated, we thought we were behind , but show me a euro nation that elected a black man, its a stellar example for the world to follow
"i dont believe it has so much to do with obama as such, it could have been any african american, the response would be the same" That is where we disagree. I doub't the response would be the same, but agree to disagree, I guess.
This has nothing to do with the amount of melanin in the President's skin. It is the message he is giving and the actions is taking to help unite us and make us a better Nation.
Show me a European nation that has so many black inhabitants who aren't immigrants of the 1st, or 2nd generation :)
It's great for the Americans to have elected a minority president, especially with the American race background - but please don't go all weird on us - Germany and Britain have both had female heads of state, which is a far more significant "minority" that has so far not made US presidency... *coughs*
well this video is great get involved if you are racist or pacisfist it matters and hopefully barack will make a difference and after the kennedys he will
THANK YOU! Thank you for showing the struggle that so many in my race have suffered. Those clips brought tears to the eyes. Tears because now we have hit a turning point in the world, Now maybe Dr. King can finally rest in peace as his work that he died for now becomes reality. Now that maybe all of my white brothers and sisters will see we are all one and all of us can live on Earth the way God has always intended! ONE NATION UNDER GOD ALL ONE PEOPLE!! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR NEW PRESIDENT!
I think some ppl forget how much SHIT Jesse Jackson and other freedom fighters like him went through back in the day. Saying that, I think a new generation of minority leaders are ready to lead America to equality, Jesse Jackson Jr, Deval Patrick, Bill Richardson, Gavin Newsom and of course the iconic, legendary Barack Obama... who's probably the biggest political figure since Reagan. I'm still shocked and happy that the majority of Americans voted for him! yay
Tks...AWESOME...full of visual historical imagery that is seldomly printed in book or rarely even taught in public school...I will save this one for sure as a visual aid for my History students!
Very inspiring and good video. However, I dont mean to rain anybodys parade, but the election of Mr. Obrama is not the culmination of the civil rights movement , but only the beginning.
It's sad while so many forget, but yet so many remember! What a great and devoted servant of the Lord! His many sacrifices, accomplishments and life spoke to the amount of courage and valor this man had! I felt this in my heart! Thanks for sharing and putting this together, great work!

Why do you slam George W. Bush for what he has done?
Is it because he invaded Iraq and Afghanistan to battle terrorism?
--- Obama is continuing both wars.
Is it because he spent a substantial amount of money and blew the Clinton surplus?
-- Obama has spent more money in three months than all the presidents from George Washington to the end of George W. Bush's term COMBINED!
By the way Bush has beed credited with saving 1.2 million African lives because of his dedication to stop AIDS.

America has risen to become the leading power in the world through its democratic government and capitalist economy..
krabsnkrinkles 2 years ago
Well, if my opinion on American policy is not relevant then your opinion of my [european] opinion is not relevant to my judgment... know what I mean? And calling Bush a warmongering fundamentalist is actually true to the facts: he started a war (define warmonger), and he is by definition a fundamentalist, since he treats the Bible as God's precise word. Btw, you should consider looking up the difference between "social democrat" and "socialist" - you may be surprised - thx tho+have a nice day :)

It's pretty sad when Americans actually compare Barack Obama to the great Martin Luther King, Jr.
Very sad indeed.
EricAnno 2 years ago
i really dont see it as comparing him to mlkj i just see that he got it to come out and a black man has moved on in the world
platinumpanda17 2 years ago
Martin Luther King, Jr. had a message. He almost single-handedly led an entire revolution in America and was, tragically, murdered for it.
Barack Obama has based an entire presidency on flirting with America's enemies, passing slander off as fact, and fooling America into electing him.
And, for the record, I didn't support McCain. I think both Obama and McCain were terrible choices as candidates and that neither should've been elected.
Obama is a joke. So is his promise of "change".
EricAnno 2 years ago
well i agree to i don't think either were great for presidency and Obama has confused alot of people he still has time to prove himself if he doesnt he will not get reelected
platinumpanda17 2 years ago
Our American President has done a great deal to help our Nation already.

No it was from Bill Clinton he screwed up the Real Estate business and passed it down to bush and bush tried his best to fix it but he didn't know how and neither does Obama.

Obamas not black

he may not be full black but he has some atleast and why does it matter black white yellow brown red its just skin
platinumpanda17 2 years ago 2
Let me just say this. I;m not racist, i'm not a conservative. I consider myself to be a moderate republican. That being said, how can you compare Obama to MLK? Obama is black and was elected prez. MLK fought for the rights of people. Obama is an eccentric politician, nothing more. For those of you blinded by his charisma, open you're eyes. I hope he does turn this economy around, but just because he is charismatic and black doesn't mean he should be compared to MLK.
pack06sbchamps 2 years ago
i can see that you are young , and you are entitled to your opinion , all i can tell you is that its not about comparison...it has always been about equality...if you have never been discriminated against because your skin is black..you will never understand, its like trying to go up on an escalator that just keeps going down , obama is just one step closer to the top, a level in life i might never see, but i will keep pushing my brothers up,......i hope in time you will understand.....one love
RobinsRemixes 2 years ago
Ok, i can understand what you are saying, but I just don't understand why people think he is our savior. Let me put it this way, if it was Jesse Jackson or Alan Keyes, people wouldn't be so inspired. I judging this based on the man, not on his skin color.
pack06sbchamps 2 years ago
i dont believe it has so much to do with obama as such, it could have been any african american, the response would be the same, i think its not so much a celebration of a man (obama), as much as its a celebration of progress, which should not be trivially dismissed, its a milestone for this country that should be recognized , appreciated and celebrated, we thought we were behind , but show me a euro nation that elected a black man, its a stellar example for the world to follow
RobinsRemixes 2 years ago
"i dont believe it has so much to do with obama as such, it could have been any african american, the response would be the same" That is where we disagree. I doub't the response would be the same, but agree to disagree, I guess.
pack06sbchamps 2 years ago
This has nothing to do with the amount of melanin in the President's skin. It is the message he is giving and the actions is taking to help unite us and make us a better Nation.
dejahthoris 2 years ago
Show me a European nation that has so many black inhabitants who aren't immigrants of the 1st, or 2nd generation :)
It's great for the Americans to have elected a minority president, especially with the American race background - but please don't go all weird on us - Germany and Britain have both had female heads of state, which is a far more significant "minority" that has so far not made US presidency... *coughs*

Even though so much rides on his shoulders it doesn't matter. Republican Democrat, Male Female, Black or White.
We can all say is this is where it started. I was apart of that.
The day when we showed the world that anything is possible.
All it takes is hope. Hope for a better a future.
In this day anyone can now change the world.

Never has so much in the short history of mankind has so much ridden on one man's shoulders.
A modern day Robin Hood.
A hope not only for America, but the World.

Really great vid!
I'm still shocked and happy that the majority of Americans voted for him! yay
