That's not how to CHANGE a chain, that's how to install a new pre-cut one that doesn't need a tool.

if u dont break the chain, the chain is hard to prise out from the 2 gaps on the r-derailler. do u just bend the gap bigger?

you need a "chain breaker" See Park tools, they do good quality ones.
