wow this is amazing i wish i knew how to make deep sounds like that im a new dj just starting out only have a cd mixer atm but would lo9ve to know how to make this sort of music i love deep house thx for uploading
god i am obsessed with these deep house synths just made my first one that sounds good last night im working on a new type of dubstep with no wobble and these synths are exactly what i have been looking for
@EbenEzer60 Just buy or download the vengeance sample pack, I don't know if that's what he's using, but you can make drums like this with those samples!
Amazing synth in the first 60 seconds.. God can i make that with FM synthesis? Can u throw me a lead or two? Im just getting into synthesis now, but these are the kind of sounds i am after.
What is the name of the synth in the picture during the first tune? Sounds really nice. Are there any VSTi's that you would recommend for getting a similar dense sound or would most decent VST's do the job with the right programming?

wow I stumbled across your video months ago..those chords are amazing, and those sh32 and the micro mod are fantastic. Reminds me of trip2nite departure lounge - nu odyssey type sounds, what are you up to now? you must have had a load of releases with those cool sounds...cheers
those tracks don't have to be finished, they already are...just an outro isn't less inspiring to do...and get some label under your arm, if it is still your thing, this kind of style
I should say that G2 is versatile, and can sound really fantastic. There are definitely things I love about it.
I have a Lead 1 as well.
I have come to like Nord sound. I was disapointed that the Lead filter didn't model overdrive, and can get very thin with resonance. I was used to discrete analogue before that.
Nord gear has great clarity, brightness, and presence, which I have come to love.
There is always analogue to be analogue, after all.
Maybe you could use a manager. If you wrote the heart of the tracks, and recording was finished by an engineer, maybe some remix work by others, ...
I'm terrible at finishing tracks, too.
I have a modular G2. It doesn't have much inherent character; it has to be programmed in. Great interface though. To me, original modular has more bite. Still not completely happy with any Nord filter models though.
WOW finaly some one agrees with me lol I always said I preffer the Mk1 modulars to the G2..always said they had more character but people thought I was crazy hahah
I like the original nord filter cos it sounds very Nord lol not totaly analogue but not too digital.
Yea I suck at finishing stuff...been searching for some one to finish things with. Back in the day record lables used to invest into artists..now days FUCK ALL
I know a few musos with original modular, and G2. Some will attest to the original having more character, good for raw sounds, and easier to get an involving bottom end. G2 has good interface for performance control (for a virtual modular).
I think some G2 owners are afraid to speak against it. Maybe cos the big $ committed, or some intellectual snobbery.
VST modulars are more versatile now, but different for performance.
I realy liked the raw sound of the first one and although slightly limmited by todays standards I quite like that..I agree the G2 is a much better performance instrument.
I like a lot of those early Underworld records..mainly the album "Second Toughest In The Infants" and they used Nord Leads a lot and you could get that kinda sound with the Modular :-)
AN-200 has the PLG-150AN fitted inside! I took one appart and it's just a bog standard PLG board in there ;-) It sounds amazing...it's one of the nicest synths out there I loved it. The free EG is also amazing..through software you can draw with a pen any modulation curve you want and assign it tp pretty much anything! and you can have up to 4 pf these..and you can get them to loop, one shot etc...
The SH32 again is a breath taking synth...so nice and unique. I used to have a CS-1X too
Hi, just thought I would mention, I just ordered a Nord Modular 1 on eBay, and received my uWave 1a as well.
I actually did a little upgrade on the uWave, putting in OS 2.0 EPROMs. I plan to swap some of the analogue electronics too, to improve the fidelity a little.
The uWave can sound pretty interesting. I've just been playing with the patches from Waldorf's archive, so far. It's a mixed bunch, but some good stuff there.
Yamaha AN-200..trulay a great GREAT synth..you have to use the software editor to get the most out of it as it's actualy a AN-1X and inside is a PLG-150AN plug in board..as a groove box it's shit, as a synth it's awsome
Thanks, yeah Z-Share deleats the files after a certain ammount of time, I don't have that pack I made any longer as I got the real things which I made it with so no need.
You syncing your MPC via SMPTE old skool man :-)
Those tunes in this vid though were all sequenced in Logic from arround early2004 to late 2005/early 06
using the hardware synths in the pics that were processed in various ways.
Thanks mate, no that guitar was just a sample but that big rhodes sound is the Nord Micro Modular...yes 12 Oscilators that patch LOL!!! all you had to do it press one key and it made that sound, used to love to make sounds in it
Firstly.....I've got to say thanks for all the videos, you've been a massive help. Keep them coming. Just in the process of purchasing my first synth, looking at the Roland Juno 1 or 2, Juno 106, Waldorf Microwave XT. Just looking for a warm, rich, sounding synth - Any advice welcome for a first time user??
if you have put those pictures and played only songs you have made on them then we have an awesome demo of those devices!music is great, tracks made on nord modular are the best.
Thanks, and yes the pictures represent what the sounds were made on. The Mk1 Nord Modular rocks indeed :-)It's one of those synths that just fits in the mix...no need to eq it, compess it hell you don't even need to add fx to fit it in the mix, it just sounds right. In my experience only a few modern synths fit in the mix like that.
dude u kick major ass. u should really get down to finishing your music. havent u ever tried to get any of it signed and released? (i mean... where do you get the money for all this gear? lol O_o
Yes I think it can! check out the clavia web site and download the latest edditor for it just to check, then all you need it a midi interface with in and out. The last edditor is V3.03 for the Mk1, should be in the archives some where
Cool, don't get the new G2's though they sound fluffy and just like any other VA imo, get the Mk1's I played both and I can honestly say the Mk1 has a much nicer character. You need a seperate PC/Mac to program it though, I had (as you can see in the pics) an old P2 laptop just running the nord
Ah yes, the Juno one was all made with roland gear; Juno 1, Tr-505, 606, 909, and a JV1080 all sampled in Logic's EXS-24 sampler. As most of my friends will know though I suck at finishing things (I find it boring lol) and this was one I never finished, I lost all the songs as my PC hard drive got fucked in 2005 and I had no back ups cos I was a skint student lol
Lol yeah, I made a lot of sounds on the modular (400 patches to be precise) and that is one of them, I think I got it just right. That thing is the most adictive synth ever, it's like crack you just keep coming back only no bad effects lol
Nice work. I'm now a subscriber... I'm going to check out that sample pack.
I recently picked up a Access Virus Snow which I'm real happy with. That would make a nice addition to your collection! You probably got your synth bases covered though?!
Yeah, it's a great synth..sorry not great but Fantastic! cos it's an AN1X, it's even patch compatible with the AN1X, any way the AN is modeled on the SCI Prophet 5 which is a great classic synth any way, the nord lead was also modeled on the prophet 5 to the point where one bank of presets was the same as the P5!
The AN200 though does have it's down points and that is the horible sequencer (which you can disable!) and the horible drum sounds and lo-fi FX except the nice chorus and phaser
I should also add that it has a very distinctive tone, even the waveforms are unique, best bit was I paid only £60 for mine and it was almost new. This the Nord Modular/Micro and the SH made a deadly combination that made my friends with Viruses and Juno's boil and offer me silly amounts of cash for these cheap things lol
Yeah I can imagine. I really like the AN's overdrive, I use it alot to create 303 ish/electro-style basses wich I use alot. It sure has a unique sound, and I tend to make sounds that are very similar every time, but then again I love that sound. I'll use the MPC for sampling other sounds, and maybe even sequencing a MC303 for that retro roland cheesy shit...
The sh32, I wonder how this thing sounds, what the character of the sounds is, all the online demo's are crap.
The SH-32 is a tech house beast! Not to mention it does amazing pads on par with the JD stuff!
Also has amazing FX, sound quality is a lot more hi-fi than the AN but not fluffy and cheesy like a Super Nova. Presets suck on it as do the demos online, it also has some realy nice drum sounds from the 808 and 909 on board. It's a great machine that's very underated and for the music I make I preffer to the JP8080 and SH-201 which I didn't think sound as nice. Once again it has a unique sound
Don't buy it for bass sounds or big trance leads! hell if you want 303 sounds don't bother, It doesnt do these very well, it's a very smooth machine. If you want 303 it's doesnt get better and cheaper than re-birth :-) it's now free!
you really lost all that stuff? Oh my God...

Hi Vinyljunkie great video, enjoying the tunes!
What is the name of the synth in the picture during the first tune? Sounds really nice. Are there any VSTi's that you would recommend for getting a similar dense sound or would most decent VST's do the job with the right programming?
Thanks

Ah, I love that early Underworld work. Brialliant.
Your video got me reading on the PLG-150AN. It has some features not found on the AN1x.
I like the AN1x control surface though. I used a friend's CS1x a bit, and got used to the layout. It works really well.
I always keep an eye out for a cheap AN board of whichever kind.

Don't buy it for bass sounds or big trance leads! hell if you want 303 sounds don't bother, It doesnt do these very well, it's a very smooth machine. If you want 303 it's doesnt get better and cheaper than re-birth :-) it's now free!
