Obviously, Serena's behavior on the court was out of line, and was clearly in violation of ITF code. She deserved a point penalty, and she admits that in the video. Serena also emphasized that Kim played great tennis and deserved to win the match. Moreover, Serena showed that she is mature enough to be able to laugh at herself. Overall, I think she handled this press conference gracefully. Serena isn't my favorite, but I believe that she handled this situation rather well, all things considered.

@Mzee1084 how could u possibly call her career inconsistent?!!! she has 13 grand slams in singles! 12 grand slams in doubles! 2 grand slams in mixed doubles, 2 olympic gold medals! she's proved herself a dynamic tennis superstar by winning grand slams on each surface! and she's been number on five seperate occassions! so what she got angry! she and venus both have the right to lose their cool, due to the b.s the USTA has put them through over the years!

@stirianix Look at Justine Henin. She is very small compared to the rest of the women at only 5"5. She hasn't won as many majors as Serena as she can't blast many opponents off the court and she has been the season ending number 1 more often and she has won more tournaments. She also has a better win/loss ratio.

@Mzee1084 henin has been around longer than serena, and serena has a 8-6 career record over justine, but that's beside the point. i never argued that justine wasn't as good as serena,

@5000futuristic There is no excuse for her poor sportsmanship. Who cares what the USTA put her through. She is making millions in endorsements as well as from her titles. She has been inconsistent. Just look at her rankings. She has finished the season as number 1 only twice in her career, and usually outside the top 5. Her game relies on overpowering her opponents rather than through variety and touch shots. This has more to do with raw talent.

@Mzee1084 there is absolutely nothing wrong with serena's strategy! and it doesn't revolve around overpowering! she's very versatile on each surface which explains her successful career! the only reason she has fallen so low (according to high expectations) is because she's injured, which is the only time she declines in the rankings. and she does have an excuse! racist scum have always gotten in the way of serena and venus doing something they love (tennis) serena only reacts out of passion

@stirianix Racism is a bad thing but it does not serve as an excuse for her to demonstrate poor sportsmanship and not give her opponents credit when she loses. Same with passion. She does perform well on all surfaces, but so do many women. Her inconsistency has more to do than injuries. Her tactics are fine if she is winning matches. I just think more highly of players that use more variety and touch shots in their game such as Justine, who is also a lot smaller.

@Mzee1084 if u call 27 overall grand slams and 2 olympic gold medals inconsistence, then i'd love to know who u qualify as consistent. i love justine too, but the records speak 4 themselves. serena has won majors on each surface, so whatever way she's playing, it seems to b working.

THANK UUUUUUUUU! u r soooooooooo right! i really don't see how someone could talk about her game, and to even call her career unsuccessful! plus people keep calling her an ape! she's a beautiful black woman people! these losers need to take these bogus comments somewhere else. i don't agree with her attitude sometimes, but consider how much she endured throughout the years from rascist fans and even umpires and linesmen! she's a great athlete and a great person :)

How is there no excuse there is an "excuse" for everything the lady is a "human" she got mad. No disrespect towards u or what your saying but there was a lot on the line. An u make it seem as though overpowering someone isnt a good tactic, the woman has 13 grand slamz hello, an the number one rank is something she will always regain it really doesnt matter being number one at the end of the year. so i think it is a good tactic "my opinion" i mean no harm though

What drives me crazy is how quickly someone can completely dismiss another's accomplishments. To tell you the truth, I admire the way she handled the press. They were looking for something to blow out of proportion. She chose not to repeat the incident. I see that as a sign of maturity. She accepted her punishment and shook her opponents hand AND offered congratulations. These are characteristics of a great sports person. Not only are those comments unfair but they are un-worthy.
