There was an episode where after reminding people that he can't eat fish, gil throws a big steak on the grill , pissing everyone off. I only saw it once but I laughed so hard. I wish i could see that again.
John Candy was one of the few comedians who could take the mundane and boring and make it very funny to watch. It's too bad he didn't even live to see 50.
I don't remember any other then the one with the TUBES, but it was hilarious, and I wish there was humor like this still. Candy is missed. Thanks so much to put this up, more appreciated, no doubt
Few remember this great SCTV segment featuring the much-missed John Candy.
His interaction with musicians as diverse as the Tubes, Jimmy Buffett, the Plasmatics and Third World was so much fun. And that the "Fishin' Musician" didn't know much about the "sport" and hated the taste of fish made it that much funnier.
My favourite was when Carl Perkins showed up, and the band made Gil drive the whole way. Gallons of coffee and packs of cigarettes later.... I have a book of the real "Red" Fisher's poetry. Check it out and it'll put Gil's intro into perspective.

Eugene Levy probably could have pulled off a good Joe Walsh, I thought that was him when they came out.

My Evin-rude does 185,
no fishin' license, get ready to hide,
I'm using spinners,
The fish they can't wait,
They take the line, hook sinker and bait
They say I'm crazy; but I have a good time,
Lake's been good to me so far...
