I still don't get one major thing. Why was Ninamori so bent on having Naota play a cat in the school play (let alone participate in the first place, especially when he deliberately doesn't want to)? And even after the argument in class, why does Naota still play the cat in the play? Better yet, since when does the class ultimately decide on a student's participation in a school play.

I know that this is Gainax, but this point needs to be made. Do not rag me on this.

And Mamimi is too much like Jeri Katou. I still don't get her deal.

And the plot should've been dragged out more and focused on Medical Mechanica as villains. This was just a subtle brief slice-of-life anime (with a few moments of crazy comedy). Even Abenobashi has no REAL antagonists (maybe Sasshi's father). I wonder if Gainax has any real antagonists.
