  • no one can beat buckethead.

  • My 2 most favorite guitarist's ever. I can't say who would win they are to godlike!

  • I love Vai and bucket but to me Bucket is a little more rounded. I mean he literally plays everything. When you get to this level its all about personal preference, Satch, Vai, Bucket, Gilbert, Lane, MacAlpine and so on. But Bucket is faster than all of them, except for the alt picking of Lane. Even Gilbert admitted in an interview "he is quicker than I" I'm straying off topic, sorry.

  • @AngelOfNight9 All these guys are far beyond anything Hendrix could ever pull off on a guitar but you have the old school guys that will never open up to the fact that there are better, Hendrix was great for his time and most of his fans bashing these true greats when mentioned either never heard of them or listened to one or two songs and miss out on how great they truly are sadly

  • "Buckethead.ok, Vai is a fucking Genius, but Mr.Bucket was the last guitarrist standing."

    Worst sentence I've ever heard.

  • Vai

  • my top 4 >>1 .buckethead .2.jimmy page .,3 slash 4.steve vai . 1 .guitar god .,2 legend.3 and 4 awasome guitarist

  • Sempre será o buckethead um dia vcs vao ver buckethead acima de tudo Buckethead- com suas músicas lava a alma buckethead te amo♥♥♥

  • well they're both really good guitarists but on the other hand, buckethead beats steve. cause really it all comes down to who can play the best live. Steve is good live but he pretty much just plays the studio version and he'll throw in a few extra notes here and there. Buckethead is amazing when he can play one of his songs and improv most of it, and it'll sound better than the original. i <3 bucket

  • buckethead without a doubt, but steve vai is still ridiculously awesome.

  • Claro que é buckethead mil vezes ninguém vai ganhar dele nunca...

As músicas de buckethead vão profunda seus babacas...

  • what is the first steve vai song

  • Steve Vai seems even more amazing when you put him next to shit like this

  • what is the first steve vai song?

  • :\

as much as i love steve, im a much bigger buckethead fan. im not saying steves worse, just there is no contest

  • the difference between Vai and BH is that BH plays guitar, Vai feel guitar

  • I can tell and I know by playing genuinely from the "heart" myself, while letting go, accepting my own playing tendencies and flowing more with them, while keeping notes unrestricted (not solely looking for speed, theory and technique) that listening or playing Steve Vai songs is a more "spiritual" experience so to speak. His emotional intelligence is very high. Probably where most of his inspiration and creativity come from.

Steve Vai is in musical sense, what Bruce Lee was to Martial Arts.

  • @EyelessCatharsis Well put, though personally I would counter that Vai is a mindless wanker alot of the time. Buckethead too actually. Buckets my favorite though, he has such a wide range of stuff.

  • 3:10 ends the vs. part of this video. Good day.

  • The whole truth is: "29 albums" and speed cannot give Buckethead a honorary doctorate now... As said john petrucci (@LeoKotzen92): "everyone can play fast, even a monkey."

  • @ShagrathXIV Sure, but Petrucci has the creativity of a cow, nothing unique and bland.

  • @ShagrathXIV Well said and well-quoted-indeed, speed is more of an ahtletic feat than a musical power per se. That said, someone who can combine a significant amount of speed with meaningfully complex phrasing, feeling, great taste, and imagination is a truly great player, if not a truly great fast player.

  • @rmsolympic1 and... ?

  • @ShagrathXIV If you want to respond, do so with phrases or sentences, not middle school-style smirks designed to make you sound like you know something nobody else knows.

  • @rmsolympic1 If you don't have anything to reply... go to bed, boy ;D

  • I think it's better Vai, but i like both and buckethead is great, too...

  • i prefer Buckethead.

  • What's the name of the song buckethead is playing?

  • I like Buckethead better :)

  • 1.Vai 2.Satriani 3.Malmsteen 4.Slash 5.Santana 6.Randy Rhoads 7.Zakk Wylde 8.Jimmy Page 9.The Edge (U2) 10.Eric Clapton 11.Van Halen 12.Buckethead
  • @Rodrython4 Malmsteen kicks Vai in the face!

  • @DeathCycleBand id like to see him try :)

  • @Rodrython4 Your late, he's already told Vai to bite the curb bitch, then stomped his bottom

  • @DeathCycleBand go search up g3 live in denver rocking in the free world satriani and vai play much better and creative than malmsteen . as alwas malmsteen just shreds up and down the neck with shredding patterns . satch and especially vai did way more like tapping sweeping usinng the tremelo etc . dont get me wrong i love malmsteen ! i love his style of playing . i think malmsteen satriani and vai are the three best i perfer vai cause i think hes a better technical player thats it :)

  • @Rodrython4 I'm not even gonna read that...

  • @Rodrython4 thank you for this message. I am totally agree with you and it's so rare to have intelliegents comments like that on youtube +1

  • @slipknotdu34 i honestly perfer vai much more because of his creative technical playing using all his resources but mostly his musical creativity

  • @Rodrython4 Buckethead defines creativity, His 40 albums (as I'm sure you've heard) are oozing with creativity.

  • I consider Buckethead to be the greatest guitarist of all time, but Vai is no slouch.

  • Hands down, steve vai wins.

    :)

  • i find it realy hard to compare he two because they are so different. vai has extreme skill for writing and playing, buckethead is good at playing and shredding. by the way, why do people say slash sucks? he is realy good. i know there are better guitarists but his alot better than any of us so lets face it! any way i like his style morre than his skill!!

  • @phazonmangowarlord i agree too i used to be a big slash fan well i still am but now i perfer steve vai and compared to satriani andd vai slash isnt too good but i still say that slash is still a great player just cause he cant shred as cleanly as most people doesnt mean hes bad

  • how can you beat soothsayer buckethead is the best

  • o solo do buckthead aos 35 segundos e foda nota 10

  • VAI IS BUCKETHEAD DUM FUK i like the vid tho but ppl shood git ther facts strate

  • dont get me wrong there both sick.. but bucket is a animal one of a kind plus any mans fingers would fall off trying to play his never ending long solos steve is a beast to but i my opinion bucket

  • Steve Vai looks like BH without the mask, bucket and costume...

    Buckethead wins.

  • im going to a concert of vai

    the 23 of october

  • I love buckethead so much ..but he use same and same and same licks same licks.... I think steve vai is better all the way..... but I love BH . =)

  • Comparing Vai to Buckethead is a complete blasphemy.

I've seen Vai live and he's truly a genial composer, (don't forget that Vai composes for Orchestra!!!) i think that none modern guitarplayer can compose like him (maybe except Ralph Towner), he can be compared with the gods of the composition, like Mozart, Bebussy, Beethowen ecc.

Buckethead who?? As said john petrucci in an interwiew: everyone can play fast, even a monkey.

  • @LeoKotzen92 ur saying all buckethead does is play fast? go get your facts straight

  • vai's style isnt rock, its like a mix of country and classical. BH has emotion in his music, and his songs sound straight better

  • what is the first song buckethead plays?? anyone plz?

  • @supershadow115 its called Final wars

  • Does it really matter who's better? They're both amazing in their own ways.

  • i can see that vai music is better.. sounds better .. and vai has more technique

but personally i like waaay better buckethead music

    vai bores me

  • Sorry, I can clearly see you're you're a Buckethead's fan but Vai is better.

Just listen to the fucking distortions or effect! You compare these two here on melody and speed only... If you compare them correctly, Vai is better.

  • For example, if you had put Whispering a Prayer, you'd see what I mean

  • @SharikTheReal Thank you.

  • crime slunk scene is awesome so is enter the chicken and population overdrive

  • poor buckethead... Vai rules... ;D

  • steve is so emotional....its just beautiful...

  • @metalmed22

make a tiago della vega vs michael angelo batio video. or maybe a shawn lane vs eric johnson video.

  • buckethead can shred better but Vai can write music better so VAI WINS!

  • @ledzeppelinfan12 listen to wishing well or electric tears

  • buckethead. but i like them both - both are very original.

  • the crazy thing about this vid is that steve is bucket head teacher...... creepy....

  • Vai wins, more versitale, and less wierd

  • @alexlocurto

are you fucking stupid? more versatile? buckethead plays avant-garde, classical, heavy metal, the blues, experimental, and well buckethead. buckethead is FAR more versatile than steve vai. buckethead also plays the bass guitar, banjo, violin and drums. he has 42 unique albums and is still writing more original material. epic fail on your part.

  • @Fluffypopcicle really, this video is so stupid... how can someone compare a shit and it's bucket with the real Guitar player?

  • lol another idiot that judges buckethead by the bucket. you know the saying don't judge a book by it's cover? i can name several reasons buckethead pwns vai. first of all he is far more versatile. he plays classical, avant-garde, shred, blues, experimental, metal, rock, and...buckethead. he has way more emotion. he made a beautiful album dedicated to his dying mother called coma. on top of that his new album shadows between the sky has melody that puts steve vai to shame. he has 29 albums too :)

  • @Fluffypopcicle its actually colma

  • @therumplestiltskinz

yeah, i forgot the l, but i know.

  • @Fluffypopcicle Listen to every song from the album The Ultra Zone, then listen to For The Love of God (all Vai stuff), after hearing all that you can't possibly tell me that BH is more versatile

  • @alexlocurto

i have listened to it. buckethead is still more versatile. you obviously haven't listened to the 42 solo albums that buckethead has made.

  • @alexlocurto

    what ?!

vai is more versatile than buckethead ?

    I bet you've listened to only 1 or 2 buck's CD's

  • @minib00mpola Well if you think the Bucket is more versatile, you must not have listened to the Ultra Zone album, and if you have and you still think BH is more versatile then listen to the album Alive In An Ultra World

  • @alexlocurto i've listened to the whole bucket's discography and vai's too.

you know, it's only my opinion. I love what buck is playing ( so cool hard shredding, so normal rock/metal riffs and moreover so chilling out songs ).

I can't find that in vai's music, maybe because of vocals.

    Cheers :)

  • @minib00mpola well have u listened to any of vais albums? he has more feeling emotion, creativity, etc vai eats buckethead for breakfast

  • @Rodrython4 it's your opinion,

and i bet you didn't listen to the whole buckethead discography, of course you don't.

I can't agree that Vai has more feeling.

  • @minib00mpola I dont care what u think But vai is better not just in my oppinion but vai, satriani, and malmsteen were titled best . buckethead is mental he thinks his family are chickens. they peck his face off and he talkes it was a complament

  • @Rodrython4 it's a little weird... you don't care what i think, but you comment my comments.

I like Buckethead, Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen and many others, but my best and fav guitarist is Buckethead...

You can agree with me or not, it's your choice.

Just listen to pure guitarists like them and have fun. Cheers.

  • @minib00mpola ps. i rofld at your childish arguments.

  • @MrBrokoli99 glad you had fun bro

  • @alexlocurto What's wrong with being wired? I'd rather be wired than be a normal douche.

  • @gunnerboy773 There is wierd, then there is being a freak, and then there is Buckethead. Ozzy wouldn't even give the idiot a job because he was too wierd. How wierd do you have to be to be turned away by Ozzy?

Besides Soothsayer (BH) doesn't even begin to compare with For The Love Of God (Vai), and that my friend is a fact

  • @alexlocurto If you say that infront of Big B he'll kill you

  • @alexlocurto More versatile, no

Less weird, yes but vai is also weird to a certain extend in a bad way, gives an impression that hes homo.

  • @ace41r and buckethead gives the impression that hes mental

  • @Rodrython4 Thats his persona, he does that to keep people from interfering in his personal life. As a greatman once said "its about the music, not the person behind it". Or maybe he has autism as some say, either way he's cool. Better than a guy trying to seduce me with a guitar on stage with his kinky moves :P j/k

  • @Rodrython4 Buckethead is mental...that's what makes him so fucking good!

  • you call vai more versatile when you've listened to only the buckethead songs that have gained mainstream attention because of crazy speed and precision, buckethead has a song in every genre and over 30 albums with diverse themes. yur obviously retarded for calling a mainstream metal guitarist more versatile than an avant garde VIRTUOSO of all guitar genres, and you go on to say vai is less weird, he looks like a flamboyant ass. have a nice day

  • Believe me, I've hear a lot from that guy, I would never say that if I hadn't heard a lot of his music first, and BH is probably more mainstream, Soothsayer is a mainstream alternative-type chord progression under a solo, compared to Windows To The Soul, which is based on Indian music. Listen to The Ultra Zone album, you can't possibly say that's mainstream, and you also can't say BH is more versatile after that ONE album. And I will have a great day thank you very much

  • @alexlocurto is alot like 10 songs? u realize he has 1000s right? buck is more talented than vai. tho i have to say vai is definitely better than some of these morons people put against bucket, like MAB alexi and slash. some artists are good but buckethead is the best hand down, and after youve spent a couple months listening to his content ill consider your opinion

  • @ZacharyDorsen i have listened to buckethead for about a year now because my friend is obsesed with BH so he puts it on alot. ive heard great songs like padasmana and soothsayer etc but still vai is a Virtuoso and he is more creative using all his resources on the guitar like whammy and tapping. BH is mostly effects and repeats the same soloing pattern in half his songs . when he plays jordan live he mostly skips the solo but when he doesnt skip the solo it sounds sloppy.

  • @ZacharyDorsen theyre both amazing . buckethead repeats the same soloing pattern in every song although the shredding isnt important. but still BH isnt better than vai and vai has every song unique

and creative he uses all his surroundings on his guitar into his songs he can add the finest shredding into a rock ballad and make it sound good. vai is better but in my oppinion.

  • @alexlocurto I would like to see him play hog bitch stomp in an acoustic using chicken pickin ;P

  • hmmm... i like Vai bether:S

  • one of the few times im not saying 'buckethead all they way he ios in a completely different league to...' because vai is actually extremely good. I still vote buckethead, but this may well be his closest rival

  • @chatmeister2008 i reckon darrel comes bloody close to bucket head

  • buckethead

  • I agree that Buckethead is a more adept guitarist... but he is of a younger generation of musicians than Vai.. so he is standing on the shoulders of Vai in a sense.

  • @wfenio well steve vai is bucket heads teacher, ( not like owned or shit, but he actualy is his teacher) so i see where you comeing from

  • @TheSlipknot656

steve vai was never buckethead's teacher dumbshit. pepper brown, and paul gilbert were buckethead's only teachers. he is mostly self-taught.

  • @Fluffypopcicle .... BUCKETHEAD HAD WAYYY MORE TEAChers than Paul Gibert and Pebber brown

  • @iholowxzx

he is still mostly self taught.

  • Buckethead is God.

  • We vote for Buckethead.

  • Bucket.

  • How about Clapton vs Beck..............................I think Jeff is light years ahead of Clapton but,This match up would light up your channel like a Christmas tree

  • Didn't Shawn lane teach buckethead as well?

  • @ozz469 No men,Paul Gilbert Teach Buckethead to play guiitar

  • @jereibanez yeah but shawn lane did too, and so did many other

  • you do know that Vai taught Buckethead right?

  • what the fuck are you talkin bout, joe satriani was vai's teacher, Bucketheads teacher was paul gilbert and pebber brown. if there wouldnt be pebber brown, then there wouldnt be buckethead. he showed him every scale and theory thing and helped him writing songs at the colma album.

and pebber said himself that steve vais technique is sloppy, and bh culd easily play steve vais stuff but steve vai couldnt play bh's stuff because he dont play good scales.and steve vai would agree that bh is better

  • @bergAgreb

yes your are right sorry about that i had the wrong person in my head you are absolutely right

  • no problem ;)

  • Ever heard of a guy named Zappa ?....................He had more to do with Steves "Advanced" training than anybody.

  • maybe , but he still has a lousy technique, but he is really great !

  • you idiot steve vais technique is perfect.

  • @standaway1 yeah fanboy

  • idiot

  • @standaway1 tell me, where the fuck do you even want to know that hes technique is great???

you probably dont even play guitar you son of a bitch.

    fuckin fanboys!

you just like him that much that you defense him in every possible way even if youre wrong

  • Learn to speak English you fuckng prick, Actually I do play guitar so dont talk shit and dont waste my time. I already KNOW Steve Vai is technically much better, and I don't give a fuck what some Austrian 3rd world fucking banana boat driver thinks so fuck off.

  • @standaway1 hahaah you whoreson austria has one of the best waters of the whole world and im not good in english, and whats the point about dissing other countries?

  • @bergAgreb Bh doesn't put any soul or emotion in his music. Playing fast doesn't mean that you're a good player. Listen to Vai's work, He's a musical genius. Bh only plays fast. Have you heard the song 'For the Love of God'? What about 'Boston Rain Melody'? Those are perhaps the saddest and most emotionally thought out pieces of music to ever be in a rock album.

  • @Eatenbyazack5150 Wait, correction. I just remembered the Album Coma... Nvm what I said... But I still choose Vai. Better song writer.

  • @Eatenbyazack5150 Yes that your opinion, and Colma isnt bucketheads only beautiful album, Electric tears is beautiful too, and im still prefering Bh over Vai any time, because buckethead is much different,

Steve vai has emotionally songs only

Buckethead has emotionally songs, metal songs, extreme shred songs, atmospheric songs etc.

  • @bergAgreb Very true, and I shall thank you for not trying to pick a fight with me over this. And I do agree that Bh has more styles than Vai. But Vai does play Rock, Ballad, some Metal (Ex Bad Horsie), and a little blues. I see it this way, Bh is an amazing Guitarist, and Vai is too. I see Vai as a better composer, I mean, he DID write full orchestra parts for some of his more Technical songs.

  • @Eatenbyazack5150 im sorry i was a little bit drunk when i wrote that shit haha

Yeah both are really great fuckin guitar players, i dont know that much steve vai songs but but the ones i know are fuckin badass !

  • @bergAgreb Why must you pick fights? Vai Composes for Orchestras. THAT'S why he's a musical Genius. He also has emotion in EVERY song. Not to mention he writes the parts for every instrument in his band.

  • @Eatenbyazack5150 i never said that i picked a fight with you, did you replied to the wrong person? i wrote that vai is great and all

  • @bergAgreb Exactly. The only Difference other then The Scales, is Floyd rose Vs Killswitch. And Different Guitar brands :)

  • i think vai maybe more technical, but i like bucketheads music way better

  • In my opinion Bucket Head should have won. Steve is an amazing guitarist though.

  • Impossible to say, they're my fav guitarists with Satch

  • I LOVE Buckethead,

but i've been listening to steve vai for longer, and his music always seems to make me happy so I personally prefer Steve Vai :)

  • love them both i cant chosse. damn it ima be thinking about this all day haha

  • who is bergagreb?? ....he is the man most stupid that I hear...his coment is like of an idiot that thinks that bucketshit rules..jajaja so idiot..the most inteligent comment is of blorp123, he obviously knows of music....jaja buckethead vs vai!jajajajajajajaja buckethead and herman li are the piece of shit in compare with the most talented guitarrist on the history...VAI is not of the Earth..his an alien or something like that..He has the best an perfect sound on guitar in the world....STEVE v

  • ohhh anyone knows dat steve vai rules...buckethead is good too but steve vai is one of the greatest lead guitarist in the world...VAI rules!!!...

  • omg buckethead is 10000 times better, and plays way more with heart, check his colma album , steve vai looks like an quuer mode designer

  • umm dude dont make fun of the way people look when your dude where an old bucket of chicken. i love buckethead but damn dude come on

  • touche your right, sorry

  • LOL@ Anyone who thinks music is a contest.

Grow up, music is about expression, which is different per unique soul.

  • lol they put my fav buckethead song on here, soothslayer ftw!!! I love that song so much what was the last buckethead song? sounded intense
