  • what is that song ? you used have it on here

  • every body watch yamaha project 350!!! ;D

  • WOW, nice job on your cool fishing mashine..... It looks totaly cool with the bracket. Also a fine collection of chatches. I wanna do the same with my Shetland 570. (also a fishing boat) Please name the music group. Greatings from Denmark

  • Did a real good job, shame it doesnt quite look as neat afterwards, but still it does the trick nicely :-)

  • @interplexer

You can go FArk yourself ..

  • aahahahahah sick

  • that goes fast for just a 90hp outboard

  • @thebigmann25 Yes it did 40 mph... with hull polished...

  • @lordlugworm why did you convert it to an outboard

  • @thebigmann25

I had a 90Hp 2 stroke Yamaha, unused but 4 yr old. So rather than run on the original massive 170 Merc engine... Sold merc and outdrive n made the pod.

Pod dubled as bait well and helped to net fish over the back.. boat ran real well..

i wanted to reduce weight and fuel just to go fishing, but fast..

  • Great video, I cant do any kind of work like this. but I was thinking about doing this to my 1989 FourWinns 211 Liberator . If I had a conversion done like this what do you think would be the estimated cost? thanks in advance

  • @nyinfamous2k2

Depends on what you want to design the outboard braket to do. Mine multi purpose. Biat tank. bouyant pod, place to stand on rear to board boat onmooring. so. also engine size?

    uare you in the uk..

  • this video answers so many questions lol every time i watch it i love it i have a 1985 bayliner with a seized 125 force i would like to switch to a 90 horse or 100 what do you recommend all advise needed lol

  • @theboss258

Did the firce sieze up when running? you can add a 90hp. it should go ok..

if not add offset and raise it ?

    then it will run//

  • @lordlugworm i bought the bout with this problem thinking it would be easy fix so i have no idea but the lady did say it kept overheating untill finally quit on them

  • @theboss258

Ok Siezed ofter heating means new Outboard Budy.If siexed becuse of long standing and no use theres a 7 days fix for that. Yes geta 90 on it..

  • @lordlugworm thats what i figured and yeah im changin it

  • How fast?

  • @s6675

    we got about 40 mph...

  • @lordlugworm

4:23 for those that thought it Porpoised..

Watch the none porpoising run back to dock. Not useing to much trim to keep nose down.

  • No . how far back is the offset? how far from rear of boat out does the braket go?

you may not need to move braket up.

First need to know how far back the braket is. ?

Mount the outboard higher on the braket. The further back the offset is, the higher you can raise the outboard ok? anything from 2 - 4 inches higher?

you need to raise it anyway on a braket of this design ok.

  • With a lot of the weight on the back. I can see that the boat is porpoising on semi flat water. Can't be that good in a moderate sea or getting out of the hole. Trim tabs are a must,I would think. Good project though

  • @VFD12

No Looks like it yes. But in the video i am testing the trim full up to make it porpoise.

look on you tube at any power boat running economy.. most sealines. all do it. but i can also trim it to run nose down hard n no porpoiseing as you also see in the video. also that day i wanted to see under the hull in the video for stills? but good thinking nice comment.

  • @lordlugworm good work I have just did the same thing on an 19.5 glasply but have may problem. Using only an 20 inch long shaft F-90 yamaha may switch to an 25 inch shaft which means moving bracket up higher, what is the length on your outboard? Any thoughts?

  • @VFD12

4:31 and pause. thats a lumpy day Also the semi flat water has a good swell not picked up by the camera. But i am also powering into those swells with the tide running out useing them to get airborne for the stills in this vid.

I am purposly hiting swell trimmed up, it has more than enough power and rides fine:) infact it has more nose down pitch useing the outboard?

I did have a pair of Hydraulic Bennett trim tabs ( incase )but it did not need them so they never went on.

  • hey bud,, great job,, i love it,,,

  • @landykid60

    Thanks Bud ...

  • @landykid60 Nice ! I have a 78 Glasply heavy about 4500 with a 165 strait 6 and am hoping to do the same. Was thinking i would need more HP. With the 165 it's hard to plain with three over sized buddy's in the boat. Would like to go with twin somethings, one for getting their and one for getting back. lol. If you would have changed anything you did what would it of been? Thanks for the show and the help. Dale

  • @tonintheboys hey bud, i dont know what i would have changed,, its a bit too advanced for me,, i am putting a single cilinder diesel in to my 15 foot boat,, running the prop with hydrolick pump,, and its taking ma a long time to do it,, ill post a vidio when it finished,,,

  • @landykid60

would love to se the finish buddy. let me know ehns done :)

    regards

    LL

  • @lordlugworm hey bud ,, change of plan,, selling the boat,,, but building a sort of raft,, one with 12 steel barrels,,, 6 on each side,,, with a nose cone on the front ones,, a kind of a shantytown raft,,, and put my yanmar on the front of it,, and a cabbin on the back of it,,, somethingwith that i can put a small stove in it,, for me and my friends,,i can leav it in a place called castlemaine harbour,, in a shelterd spot, about 5 mins walk from my house,, how are things on the boating front ,,

  • looks retarded. theres no way a 90 beats a 170. you just dont wanna admit it. but i like the out of the box thinking.

  • @asssface2000 Power to weight ratio is likely much better with the Yamaha

than with that dog-faced 470 (those were lame engines to begin with). Looks like it needs trim tabs though as it porpoises a TON.

  • @markeyjames22 --Ha . Yes it does Porpoise but only when i let it.

I also have a raider 18.with 90hp Mercury? that engine block is made by yamaha also. It also, porpoises if i let it.

If i watch both the revs and the tilt i reach 35mph to 40mph in both.

25mph at just under 4,000 revs. It could do with me putting back on the tabs mind ur correct. In this film i purposly raised it high to see the hull in the video and what state i porpoised. thats the first ever run in that configuration.

  • @asssface2000 --HA . The 170hp Merc 470 engine and leg ? = Lots of weight? Boat capable of 40mph full trim with tabs@Wot i am running a 90hp. Near half a 170hp bar 5hp. Reaching 40mph easy at 5.500revs n 45mph at 6,000revs 17inch pitch.

I can add another 90hp ten more than original and do 65-70mph plus.

go add ten hp to the 170 n see if you will get an extra 30mph.

Plus the pod is designed to take twins? Just incase:) i want to have a go

  • How fast does the boat go now u did a very nice job but did u break in the engine also wut did u do with the mercruiser and did u glass the floor over thanks well done!!!!

  • @thebigmann25.... we have seen 45mph. waxed clean hull. Engine was broke in prior to re fit.

Yes the floor and some stringers glassed over with access hatches.

  • Well done, great end result. Did you put on a 90hp 2strk to save weight ?, seems like alot of boat to push.

  • @fiftyknots

    -

But it does it well- Yes it was all to save weight.

  • Hello, Just curious about your "diesel heating system" . Who makes that? Sounds cool.

    Thanks- Mark

  • @mdonahue120

    Eberspacher d2

  • Well done great job. Great to see someone who believes in their own abilities and ignores the doubters.

I am about to do the same job to a Cougar Cat 900, I'm taking out 2 AD 41 Volvos and outdrives.

I'm going to replace them with Yamaha 4 stroke 225 hps.

It would be great to get some advice.

    Thanks.

  • What is the name of the music?

  • How many MPH?

Its faster with the Yamaha 90HP or with the old Mercruiser?

  • @IgorSallesBotti

    Faster with new engine.

  • @IgorSallesBotti

Similar...the same speed. i belive it is faster by at least 5mph.

see the conti video it is flat out? ha

  • Very nice job , Im doing the same conversion on my boat this year and have a 115 hp Merc to go on the back of mine.

Had all the comments of it won't work and boat will not handle etc. It's good to see yours looks spot on in the water.

Roll on the summer for some great fishing (:

  • Thanks Mike. If i can help.

let me know. Just remember to raise the the outboard 3 inches at least, to where it should normaly sit ok. less drag

  • What was the thickness of the metal for the bracket?

    Also whats the maths involved?

    Thanks

  • hi what is the size of your boat as i am thinking of doing this to a 22ft is it possible, nice job.

  • Yes your boat can be repowered.

    what hull do you have.

    This is a 20ft boat.

  • hi thanks for your reply mine is grp,v hull glastron sports fisher 225

it's age is about 1970/1980 it's a curved shape transom from top to bottom if u type it in to google images it should bring it up so u can see exactly what i mean

    many thanks

  • I am simply stunned that light 3 cylinder 2 Stroke can do that. I have the same engine on a 17 ft Boston Whaler and I satisfied with how it preforms I downsized form 20ft hydro-Stream with a V6 mrec to a 3 Cylinder (half it size), it was adjustment but OK. Watching this is very cool knowing what this small 2 stroke can do. Your work is also out standing....

  • Nice Job, Glad it worked out.

  • Very Well Done....

  • Ha .Thanks Mate.

I got the 90 Yam from a Putford supply vessel(east coast rig supply) ,used on one of thier ribs. i have un-loaded and back loadded grampian vessels;)
