Actually, Harry Houdini only died that way at he end of the 1953 "Houdini" movie, starring Tony Curtis. In real life, Houdini died in hospital on Halloween after a ruptured appendix turned to peritonitis. And it's a fact, despite some medical conjecture to the contrary.

To clarify... Houdini being punched in the stomach actually took place two days before he died. The night of his death, he did perform the water torture cell, but this was not the reason for his death, which was actually the result of a massive fever and a ruptured appendix. At the time, the physical trauma from the punch in the stomach was blamed for causing the appendiciits, however modern medicine has proven that this could not be the case, so Houdini actually died of natural causes.

Does anyone have the clip of Martin Daniels doing a trick live on BBC1 on Halloween night where he's tied up and tries to escape from an iron maiden?

The door slammed shut and I thought he'd died. The BBC had to announce later on that he was OK and it was all part of the illusion

thats not how houdini died, he died cuz 3 twenty year olds punched him in the stomach, houdini clamed he could survive any hit, and after a show the 3 men asked him if they could test thet, houdini agreed but they gave him no time to flex there for leaving his organs in harms way!!!! look it up its tru

Those were air bubbles.The tank was fitted with a pipe taht made them appear.For dramatic purposes.
