we left because things and people change we have other commitments, we got married ,went to school, went to war, we grew up, we found love, experienced death, this will always be a special time for me . the 6 years i played from 2002 to 2008 were very special i made life long friends there and even got to meet some of them in person. will another game come around like this one i do and dont hope for it... i want nothing to belittle these fond memories
I remember that video. Amazing to see it again after all these years. But didn't Alaya reroll on mid on the same server shortly after that? I remember at that time it caused a fair bit of drama on VN to do such a thing.
I will have to get on my cleric sometime soon and wander the alb areas again. So many fond memories I have there doing raids with the realm and just helping people out.
We DO miss it. The community at that time was awsome. No game to date has built such a strong community. The forums of this game are still actively used even though no one on there has played this game in years. Why did we leave? Because over time the game changed and people left. The game today isn't how it was back then. That is what people miss. How it was way back then.
One of the best daoc-movie ever made, i played on Prydwen/Midgard and played a Troll Berzerker as my main named Stark. Just wanted to say hello to all the old-timers out there ;D
Such a beautiful vid, this is the best ever non-RvR vid imo, one i still have on my HD to this day, along with 7 or 8 gigs of other DAoC Vids :) I always watch it to remind me of the good ol days, games these days just seem to miss that something DAoC had, in times of need we put aside our differences and fought as one for the good of our respective Realms. Even though i stopped playing almost 5yrs ago now, DAoC still remains the single best MMO for so many reasons, and this vid captures them.
My friend, truer words have never been spoken. To this day I still have alot of respect for the old school DAoC that I used to play so long ago. I am reminded of that everytime I watch this vid and it always brings a tear to my eye, happiness because I got to play during those times and made many friends, and sadness because it will probably never come again. I remember when the mid level people who were in the low level areas used to ask if anyone needed help with anything, good times....
Even though Mythic messed up the game badly in the end, old-school DAoC is really hard to beat. It was, perhaps, the truest MMO - the endgame was centered around the *entire* realm, not just each individual guild and their own goals.
On another note, I found a few months ago that I still had the screenshot of the day I joined Domus Caliburn on disc, right in the middle of Stonehenge... remember that, Alaya? ;)
Hi, great vid. I still play Excal/alb now, the community is still great, the fighting's still going and even though people are saying it is dead the rvr is still amazing, the population of our beloved server is increasing after its downfall, all you guys should resubscribe and be sure to fight by my side ;)
go try this game again they upgraded the skins and graphic engine and graphics looks a hell of alot better 100% better and rvr/pve is still awesome. The people playing daoc is for the most part more friendly and mature than WoW players i played WoW for a year and the community on WoW is just not like how it is in daoc, more rude kids in WoW. Thats what keeps me playing daoc, a great game and great community of people. Try the 14day trial and find out for yourself :)
Well I activated a new account and made a new char, lost all the info on my previous account, and tried to play it again. At best with all the new stuff its mildly interesting, and many of the gamers have changed. Back when I was playing when Shrouded Isles was introduced people of all levels commonly asked if they could help any of the lowbies, today? Barely anything, the chat on the game is almost always dead, even at peak gaming hours. Just not the same anymore..... ;_;
If you havent played this game lately its been upgraded with new skins, new graphic engines added alof of pve/quest adventuring. The rvr/pvp is still awesome and the fluid of war and fights are awesome. THey added alot of quests, alot of instant dungeons alot of different areas to explore so much more i havent done them all and ive been playing since 2001. If you havent tried this game or did and try to come back you will see a world of difference for the better, try the free trial.
Being a vet from beta also, I feel for DAOC's downfall TA/NF still to this day I talk to many friends from DAOC and hope to meet everyone that I played with friend and foe and hope for some more 8v8 with all my buddies bors/gwen/mer/mord Inti & El Gallo & Ishamael & buffalot Vargragnarson /wave
Could not have said it better myself. Lomen Checking in :) Bring Warhammer on Im ready again (I Hope, Nerf Work!). Alaya we never meet ingame but were all cut from the same family If you know what I mean :) DAoC at Heart.
I never met you while I played DAoC, and I feel I missed out quite a bit. Adynn Lightbringer, Paladin of Camelot would be honored to fight by your side.
I think alot of people feel the same way Alaya. For many it was the first mmo they had ever played. It's very much like your first love - it's something you'll never forget.
It's great to see so many of these videos being posted.
I'll be in warhammer(eu) when it's launched and hope to see many more videos like this in the future.
Aye, DAoC was my first MMO. So many good times with my guildmates, Sons of the Dragon. Going through dungeons with my buddy Phatbow, grinding on Salsbury plains, running away from mobs I accidently pulled.... I think its time Adynn Lightbringer returned to wreak havoc among the enemies of Albion...
Wow who ever gave me a thumbs down is stupid all I did was give my own opinion, I just dont think that this should be Pay to play there is so many games out there that are better in my opinion that dont need for you to pay for it.
" How is the game supposed to get updates and run? " There is a little thing called donations or running a cash shop for playters wanting to further gameplay.
just find some good people to run with and make the good times. been playing since 2002
on various servers and its all a matter of who you bring in around you.. doesnt matter if there the uberest players or nor but only if you enjoy playing in there company.. that is what made this game great .. and alot of those people are still here
Omg that brings back such memories of old school DAOC, Old Frontiers and old fashioned relic raids. I always loved Aladora's movies, its what inspired me to start making DAOC movies.

It was a different time, a different spirit, a different community. Wonder if we will ever experience anything like that again.
