Whenever I book a flight on American I dread whenever the flight info

says "MD-80"......

I don't want to fly on a 25 year old plane, dammit!

@tommybass40 The MD-80 I flew on on my 4th flight ever on January 17th, 2011 was 23... made February 1988 lol. But some MD-80s were made up to the late 1990s, making them about 12-15 years old now. On the other hand, some were made in the early 1980s... they might be 30+ years old!

American is currently in the process of replacing all of the MD-80s with 737-800s, they are currently receiving about 2 per month, the process will take a while because Boeing can only produce some many at a time.
