im working on this piece too :D haha

  • I can write for you any sheet music

  • so good

  • I wish you had a better pianoplayer. He's making too many mistakes and ruins your beautiful performance..

  • You play very beautifully! Who did you study with? There are so many interpretations of this piece and I really like yours.

  • I am currently studying with Jeff Khaner and Carol Wincenc in NYC. I also study with Sir JG on the side for kicks.

  • Impressive! Did you go to Julliard, Curtis a student on the side? I'm not a flutist but my daughter Patti will start college for music performance fall 08-still waiting to hear which. She just performed this with our Chamber Orcherstra. Her videos are in my favorites :) Hope to see more of your work!

  • I played this piece about 6 years ago my senior year in high school, which won me sever superiors, including a distinguished for state festival solo and ensemble. For spring concert I played it one last time and I hit the triple high D perfectly at the end. This piece was played beautifully!

  • very nice playing... & good memory work!

  • Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! :D

  • wahhhhhhhhhhhhh. you're so amazing. your tone is really good, and the movements match. I like this a lot.

    the style is so clean.

  • Really nice playing! Add this as a video response to one of my videos. Excellent.

  • y does the flute look sooo long :|...but its sounded beautiful and nice dress =P

  • Hrm, that dress looks familiar, honey ;-)

  • thank you, you are too kind!

  • Hi Freda - It's Josh!!

Hey do you remember how much that dress cost - my duo partner needs one and I told her to look at your site as we wanna go pro in our area at some time......

    I still watch this video!!!

It reminds me how more I have to practice at

  • hi josh! sorry, i didn't get back to you sooner. I was really sick for the past week and half. I got the dress from Nordstroms on Sale! it went from $350 to $80! It's made by ABS. It remind me of those Greek Statues!

  • Cool! Have you seen my video yet??

Anyway I miss talking to oyu on aim..

    How's JUstin?

  • Dear Frieda,

It's a superb performance. You are in good form! It has been yearas since I last heard your concert. My colleagues're amazed that when I proudly told them you're my niece. Well done, my dear. I'm looking forward to more of your postings since we're miles apart! I must thank 'youtube'for it. Loads of love,

    Aunt Naomi

  • Thank you Auntie Naomi! Sorry I didn't reply in so long, I got really sick after performing in California and Kansas. How are you? I miss you!

  • Good job! Is it memorized?

  • Yeah, it's memorized, the form of this piece is pretty repetitive which makes it easier.

  • You look very proffesional when you play - With the the dress and the page turner etc.

One question: Why did you put the flute jigher than your lips at some times?

  • I have not really thought about it, I know that I do hold my flute higher then most people. =P When the flute is parallel to the ground, it's when it's most stable. Gravity is not pulling the flute down, so I don't have to grip to keep the flute from slipping, my fingers moves faster and cleaner.

I hope this answer your question...haha

  • Cool - so are you planning to study flute inUniversity (Are you in Highschool?)

  • haha.....you are so nice, good to look young...haha! I am actually finishing my doctorate. I am studying wtih Jeff Khaner and Carol Wincenc. I used to study with Amy Porter and Tim Day. I am currently teaching at the Long Island Conservatory. hehe....

  • OMG - I thought you were a highschool student. How much does Carol charge for private lessons? What flute do you play? Do oyu have more videos online?

Are you in any orchestra? Are you at Julliard?

  • I am at Stony Brook, a school exclusively for Grad students. I have never paid for a lesson with Carol, but from what my friends tell me it's about $250 per hour. I play on a Brannen silver flute. I never went flute hunting like most flutists, I just got it and learned to play on it. haha...I don't fuss about my instrument, because I believe that 99% is about a flutist's technique not about the instrument. The most important thing is that the instrument has to be functional and well kept.

  • Cool - OMGosh that means a month of lessons wiht Carol is $1000 that must be a killer on the wallet :)

  • That's why I am glad I don't have to pay for it...haha! I know people who does, I don't know where they find the money...it's crazy!

  • I participated in the Paula Robison Master Class at Diller-Quaile where she has helped me lots with the Chaminade! You should look into participating, it will be really beneficial!

  • Outstanding!! Keep up the good work Frieda.

    Sincerely,

    Daryl Jones

  • Hey Frieda! Beautiful playing!!! Were you happy with the performance??? I think you sound wonderful!!!!

  • i don't like her vibrato :( otherwise fine performance :)
