From what I can tell from Manga and from the anime, they MAY go two different directions. Shounen is more about growth and personal accomplishments, HOWEVER, after Confessions 'anime', they definitely drift towards a Naru/Hina pairing. In the Manga, Kushina tells Naruto about being happy as a Jinchuuriki with Minato and that leads him to find his own happiness. Who he wants to be happy with is undecided, but everyone's guessing Hinata. That's my personal opinion.

Actually...everyone went up in arms when Hinata confessed to Naruto and Naruto did react to Hinata's confession with utter shock, but you are right when it comes to why he has not said anything about it since. I can only surmise that Kishi wants to have Naruto talk to her about when things aren't so hectic, is my guess. Also, I think Sakura confessed to Naruto for the pure sake of getting him to realize Sasuke is gone, nothing more.
