  • Opposite of football team, all black

  • United we shall stand. Alyaum sau'wi'yan. All is good when religion and nationalism fall away, only then will the world live as one. When one day all will sing about the birds, trees and nature's splendour, instead of country, flag and nation.

  • Hoping for World Cup Rugby final against Wales: the two best anthems in the world!

  • ¿Es español?

  • imagine a south africa v argentina final in the world cup this year. 2 amazing anthems that both africans and argentinians sing with emotion. that will be awesome!!! if u dont know argentinian anthem, find it out in argentinian rugby team version ;)

  • @avguidottijr thats where the mumbling starts in soccer matches

  • @avguidottijr Oh, so the parts not in Afrikaans don't matter?

  • Comment removed

  • Who is singing this?

  • its funny how most the people watching this arent south african..

Suid-Afrikaanse rugby volksliedere is die beste en julle almal weet dit, nou as jy dit verstaan gee my 'n thumbs up!

  • that version is simply beautifull just wathed it 20times lol

  • I love 0:48, interesting to see how the guy in front of the camera sings but the people behind him don't.

  • (1:12) starts the best part.

  • Yes,but before 1994 die boer volk!!!

  • bestest two union teams ever!!!! whoever sang the south african is soooooo beautiful<3....

  • bestest two union teams ever!!!! whoever sang the south african is soooooo beautiful<3

  • does anyone know who actually is singing this?

  • south africa is a an amazing country, but its soooo expensive to stay their and such little jobs, like a ps3 console cost 6500 rand, thats one of the reasons im living in canada right now.

  • it's afrikanas and its a great anthem spesh when crowd get involved

  • what was that hideous language?

  • Is it just me, or does is not sound like the spectators turns up the singingvolume a level or two when the Afrikaaner part comes in the anthem??

  • @carkadk because its the only part theat means something

  • @bokke81 DUMBASS FAGGOT

  • @carkadk tahts cuz the majority of thatcrowd is most likely afrikaans

  • There are some fit hunnies on that team.

  • i can proudly sing my countries anthem on the 11th

  • is it me or are they not going togather with songs seem like some dont know words :)

  • We pine for civilised rule and a crime-free country when we could be PROUD to say that we were South Africans!

  • The singing got louder when the tune switched to the old anthem...the part that was the anthem before the end of Aparthied. Is that because people do not know the new tune? Is it some sort of "statement" by whites in the stadium? In any case, I like that the new South Africa retained a national symbol beloved by the Afrikanner and hope it reflects and/or helps with growing one nation there.

  • Hahaha, great anthem alright, but theres only one team out there and it ain't the green and gold !!!! :)

  • 1:16 this is the real greatness of south africa...a black man sing in afrikaans....

  • @LUPIDI

Well, he's actually a Cape Coloured and they usually speak Afrikaans.

  • @LUPIDI and white people sing in xhosa and zulu

  • @LUPIDI Yeah, indeed. Breyton Paulse he is. Always singing his heart out! :)

  • Let us not wast time posting here. Lets rather start an organization (BLACKS AND WHITES) that can oppose what this anti-South African is doing. What a disgrace!

But very clever actually. Divide and Conquer.. So anyone got an ideas to get started. We cannot sit on the side and moan about the problem unless we have done something to solve it!

Lets chat about ideas to put out this horrible fire.

Ringing out from our Blue Heavens

    Nkosi sikeleli SOUTH Africa!!

  • A beautiful anthem.

Yes there are still racists like Alan D Harvey, who pine for the glorious days of sunshine and lollipops under Apartheid, when 20 percent of the population lorded it over the majority.

  • AlanDHarvey is one big Asshole

  • wow that sent shivers down my spine..have tremendous respect for SA..loved the passion showed by everyone, proud of their country

  • I admire your positive sentiments prettyPable; as a non South African it is easy to understand the arguement that after decades of oppression, it is necessary to empower the South Africans and at the same time it is easy accept the views of young Afrikaaners who view they are being penalised for their father's wrongs. Not an easy scenario, but from the educated young white and black South Africans I've met, I believe true unity can become a reality.....god bless u and your country

  • Barrister that is true! I believe you 100%! I am equally not south african, but from those both white and black I met, there are some progress! Nonetheless I am just urging south africa as a whole to see beyond the colour line and put their country in first place!

  • A truly beautiful national anthem and the pride with which the players sing adds to that; I just hope that the positive sentiments espoused in the lyrics become a reality in South Africa whether u r Zulu or Afrikaner.

  • I am black and believe the anthem is the best in the world. The players sing with pride! South africans - both blacks and afrikaaners - should really learn to live together, forgive each other, reconcile and move on! Unfortunately I find the economic empowerment being a discriminating actions on the afrikaaners. I would have hope instead that more is done to reconcile them! Politics should do everything to protect the minority, thats their legacy!

  • Hey, don't forget the rest of the South African population. Not all of us are black or Afrikaans. There's the english speaking whites, the coloureds, the indians, the bushman (San peoples) etc. That's about 15% of the population right there ;)

  • mjribes sorry if I did forget that! Was not my intention. You see thats is just to emphasise the cultural diversify in your country! Make use out of that! Use that as we say in Strategic management, let it be your competitive advantage! Thanks for the reminder!

  • @mjribes and Chinese people...they have a Chinese newspaper with 500,000 copies

  • @hipocresia If there are 500,000 chinese (or Taiwanese) in SA that would be amazing... considering there are less than 5,000,000 whites

  • @mjribes I'm studying Chinese Contemporary History, and the presence of "Hua Qiao" (Chinese Overseas) in Africa is so large, also in Indonesia.

    PD: are you from SA?

  • @hipocresia up, South African born and bred. In my 28 years on this planet I've only ever met 1 Chinese person who lives in SA. Met many Taiwanese though. However I really do doubt hat there are 500,000 Chinese/Taiwanese in SA. But the ones that are here are welcome - this is the rainbow nation, right?

  • wow!

3 languages and still so beautiful in harmony

  • 4 languages (just to be exact)

  • surely it's xhosa, zulu, sesotho, afrikaans & english... = 5...

  • Bella..dovrei averci il DVD di questa partita....

  • beautiful!!! respect

  • Take me home, I'm ready

  • South Africa has the best anthem and the best flag.

  • @RenShiWu I KNOW it's making me wish i was south african

but i like that it means god bless africa (we need it) so amen

  • @RenShiWu if you are refering to die stem then yes it is the best and the old flag is the best

  • I have lived in the states for the last nine years. I'm married to an American and live as one, but every time I hear that Anthem, I still get choked up. Go bokkies!

  • Extremely well sung and quite touching the passion of the players

  • ess hino me deixa arrepiado cara! Viva a Africa do Sul! VIVA!!!

  • Bellissimo !!!

  • Gli Springboks sono molto più forti degli All Blacks ora come ora...

  • Bravo, beautiful anthem. Very nice to see all three languages in there. I wish people from the USA would sing our anthem aloud like you guys. regards from the US. GO EAGLES!

  • 3? its actually 4

  • Francauvergnant. This is a new South Africa and yo negative opressor mind has no place here in South AFRICA THIS IS A RAINBOW NATION WE ALL ARE WORKING TOGETHER AS BLACK,WHITE,INDIAN AND COLOURED TO BUILD A GREAT DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY.

  • The anthem of South Africa is no longer Die Stem. Thank God.

  • There is only one South Africa Anthem and that is Die Stem van Suid Afrika.

  • Love this :)

    Suid-Afrika is my land

Ek hou van die suide Afrika

  • I really thik it's so awesome the player that allmost cried for his anthem , thats pride

  • @mchachaabl pride? do you really wanna know what is pride? watch the portuguese team singing the anthem in the 2007 world cup

  • bellissimo l'inno sudafricano .

  • Fantastic anthem, I really like the transition from the Sesotho to the Afrikaans part. Greetings from Holland.

  • My grandfather was from Rotterda and moved to the USA when he was 3.

  • i think that the two complete anthems ( nkosi sikeleli afrika and die stem van suid afrika should be official and singed in all events ) till 1997 was this , and i think it was better

  • garranmhuire your a total faggot and obviously know nothing south african rugby, infact your probably one of those fat dickheads that sit on the computer and just bag out a team. here's an idea get off your fat ass and try play rugby against south africa maybe you'll get some sence knocked into you.

  • Hey your mum, shes just as nasty.

  • still makes me smile, i love south african people & wish i could be watching the lions v springboks, have a few beers, have a braai in sunny Joburg.. =)

  • this singer who is singing the anthem is pretty good !

  • Funny. At the beginning when I first read the anthem I thought this was a great idea, the national anthem should reflect the multicultural identity of a country. And then I noticed that the fans (so most of the people) really start singing at the afrikaans / english part. I mean, what is the excuse ? Eventhough it is not your mother tongue, couldn't they make the effort of learning some lines (not event ten !) ? This is very symbolic and I am quite disappointed the rainbow nation isn't yet real.

  • Well the national anthem doesn't even reflect the multicultaralism of south africa. there are 11 official languages and most of the fans aren't Zulu, or Sutu. Soccer games generally attract the true africans. I know how you feel though, I learned the entire national anthem, {except for the Afrikaans part] and most of the Afrikaaners would laugh at me. They actually know it usually they just don't sing it.

  • it's true that football is more the game of the blacks and rugby the one of the whites. but why do you call blacks true (south) africans? and why don't you learn the afrikaans part?

  • God bless SA, you guys have come the long way, though you still have a ride to take may God guide your journey

  • Die Stem does not unite South Africa unles it is sung in conjunction with Nkosi Sikeleli..

  • Afrikaans:

Uit die blou van onse hemel,

Uit die diepte van ons see,

    Oor ons ewige gebergtes.

    Waar die kranse antwoord gee.

    If translated in dutch:

Uit het blauw van onze hemel,

Uit de diepte van onze zee,

    Over onze eeuwige gebergtes,

Go Bokke !

  • Als Deutscher kann ich es auch lesen. :D

  • when they strart singing die stem you hear much more sound, because that understand the soutafrican players and fans, that oebloeke not :S

  • Can't you just enjoy this great anthem?

  • im going to sweat SA in may wooo genna love being home n seeing all da family. might get to see the lions play SA while im there :):)

  • You can see that Die Stem is still most popular. Zulu is not South African. Afrikaner is even spoken by the real natives: Afrikaans-speaking Boeren en all Khoikhoi.

  • Zulu is not South African!!!! I rarely swear but FUCK YOU YOU IGNORANT PIECE OF SHIT. I respect Afrikaaners but that comment is utter crap.

  • This is coming from a South African so pay attention. To say that Zulu is not South African is a LIE. Zulu is the most commonly spoken language in SA, the Zulus arrived here 1000 years ago, that's more than 600 the dutch. The only reason for Afrikaans being spoken amoungst muslims and cape coloureds(I am one by the way) is they were slaves to the Dutch. Plus the Khoisan hav their own language, they too were dutch slaves. Die Stem is always louder coz most rugby fans are white afrikaaners.

  • Who is the guy :30?? He's number 5.

  • Victor Matfield

  • The best part in this song is from 1:15 to 1:35.

  • i liked this song. i'm buying me the cd on ebay someday.

  • Who's the black player who's singing the Afrikaans part in an emotional way?

  • Ashwin Willemse

  • he's Cape Coloured, so Afrikaans is probably his native tongue.

  • Many Blacks and Muslims also have Afrikaans as their native tongue.

  • If there are from New zealand then why are they singing the Southafrican anthem.. where is theirs...?

  • its not New Zeland its South Africa

  • i dont understand why crowd ppl just sing the Afrikaan and english part

  • because they are racist LOL!

  • omg ur gay

  • what are you talking about? See 0:51. The white guy singing the Xhosa verse? Check out the other videos of the SA anthem at rugby games. The white crowd always sing all the parts.

  • most white ppl dont sing the "nkosi sikeleli" part because they dont know it as well as Die stem. I mean, after all those years, where Die Stem was the official anthem, can u really blame them?

  • I hope those whites born after the 1990s will not offer this excuse.

  • Nice anthem! What a colorful nation

  • If only we had such this fantastic anthem..

  • Does anyone have an idea who sings the anthem here? It's really, really beautiful and moving. Going to South Africa in less then 5 weeks.. :)

  • which one do you mean? I can count to three different anthems in this video..

  • Three different anthems? There's just one. It's only a new, hybrid anthem...

  • I'm also eager to find out who sings this, I think she does it quite well. I'm not sure which game this was, but we could likely find it out from there.

  • At 0:49 you can a banner saying Absa Stadium, if that helps..

  • kom die bokke

  • i'm filipino canadian and i think your national anthem is pretty good too..=)

  • Nice national anthem

  • i like the way the fans really pipe up when the afrikaans and english verses come in!! gotta love the springboks!

  • Yes that's so cool.

  • Imagine if the United States had Navajo, Cherokee, Spanish, and English in our national anthem. People may think it was cool, but they would really only know by heart (for a few generations) the Spanish and English parts.

  • except there are a lot more xhosa-speakers in South Africa than there are Indians in America these days.

  • the best national anthem in the whole world.

  • its pretty cool, but check out Canadas and listen to the Aussie national anthem.

  • This is the most moving rendition I've heard.

  • im singing this song at the 2011 Rugby World Cup !!!!

  • This is my favourite anthem, it makes feel emotional and I am not even South African lol.

  • Your national anthem is one of my favorites. I sing along to it all the time, even though I'm not Australian. But sometimes it makes me feel like one when I sing it...LOL

  • lol

  • South African, not Australian.

Americans can never tell the difference between British, Australians or South Africans.

  • I was commenting on Happyfeet70's national anthem, because he's from Australia.

Also, I am one of the many few who can tell the difference between Brits, Australians and South Africans simply by listening to their accents.

Plus I've had some good friends from each of those countries.

  • Ah I realise now, I beg your pardon.

I've learnt the words to all three national anthems, apart from the French they're my favourites.

I have friends in those places too.

    Sorry Chanbites.

  • No worries. It's all good.

  • wow..hear the crowd joining in. It's great to see a people that has some pride in their anthem.

  • GIVE ME DIE STEM!!!

  • Nope, as far as I know they all mean different things. Some of the Afrikaans part was taken from the old Anthem.

  • do all of those languages mean the same thing when they're said?

  • u mean richie mccaw

  • The man at the start is cute!

  • Beautiful rendition.

  • It is my most favourite anthem too!It is very moving and uplifting.

  • Just a few things its Kings Park Durban not Queens Park and to Playa 2468 its 4 languages

  • OK I Changed the few wrong words....and if there´re any more, please let me know !! I play semi pro football (soccer)in germany but i´m a huge fan of rugby, especially the team spirit and the traditions !!....there´s no explanation for my respect to this game !!! kamaté .........I JUST LOVE IT !!!!!

sports can be war, but war never should be sports !!
