@DaveArmstrong91 According to the liner notes from the Tamplin and Friends "An Axe To Grind" (Intense Records)cassette that I've had since 1990, there are two lead guitarists on this track. Mark St. John & Scott Van Zen.

Ken was amazing then and he still is just as amazing NOW. He does seem very straight forward and honest. One of the less popular celebrities out there that work harder at what they love instead of trying to look important all the time. Most vocal coaches on the web have no legitimate resume compared to his. They do scales and claim they can teach. But they don't sing. Tamplin not only sings, the rest speaks for itself. He's big on showing proof of your expertise.
Check out Danny Danzi, he is much like Ken and plays very pretty solos. I am a long time Tamplin fan so can't help compare the two catchy rock types with powerful vocals and inspiring lyrics.
2, it was not just Shout but also Ken Tamplin and also Magdallan (also known as Magdalen)
He has been very busy producing music and for movies and TV and commercials.
In my book he is one of the MOST successful guys from that era and proves MUSIC is his life's passion and he is talented and can flow with the punches.
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!! I'm Ken's number 1 fan here in the Joliet Metropolitan area....He's a really nice guy, too...Stayed on the course, been married for over 25 years (?).... THAT is success!

funny that you say that, when i was writing that, i meant to add that im actually making some tabs (guitar pro tabs, using tux guitar of course), because someone has to! but im not great at it.
hey watch your language! thats no way to talk! WWJD :)
Religion maybe not...but Jesus Christ, The Most POWERFUL being in existence should be represented by powerful music. My relationship with Jesus Christ has very little to do with religion.
Stupefying your mind with religious sleep. Caustic trumpery from your pitiful god. Years of lies to bolster the belief. Empty words and useless faith. Resting beside your selfish prayers. Mindless and empty, false and absurd. Your sleep sheltered with willing ignorance. We are here to celebrate the serpent's choice. So enthralling is our Satan's wisdom. Death to the dullards with the powers of Old Nick. Open your eyes to the shadowy truth. The search for enlightenment lies with the devil.
heehee. i kno this song word for word and i wasnt alive in the 80s hahaha. i blame my dad. he is obsessd with ken. lol. i love that you love jesus ken!!!!!!!
Man some of these comments should be deleted! The only thing Im mad at Ken about is the fact that he was such the producer for the first Angelica album that Andy Lyon didnt make the grade. I loved Andy on the Angelica demos and was dissapointed it didnt work out for him. But thats no reason for me to shoot a brother down. Hey Ken you rocked and I know for a fact that you made a great impact on some peoples lives by bringing the word. You done good dude even if you are the perfectionist producer.
I was shocked to hear Danny Danzi on Guitar War because I had listened to Tamplin growing up and Danny had never heard of him and has very similar songs and guitar.
hey skywalkr!! I cant believe i dont see this on here but. KEN TAMPLIN was in a really good christian band called SHOUT. you might have better luck finding some of it
zenmun? Scott is that you???? Dude it's been a long time if this is you. This is Gino. I don't know if you remember me, but I used to take lessons from you back in the early 90's. I found Ken's video a while back and check it out every so often. How have you been??
I'm going to do something different here and post ABOUT THE VIDEO !!! If you guys have differences....exchange phone numbers and argue it out on the phone....sheeesh.
When I was a young believer..... this tune came out and it rocked. I still have the cd I bought from 16 years ago ??? (Came out in 1991 I think) Good music..... I still listen to it. "An Axe to Grind" is a true classic.
I would say, "Say what you want", Michelle, but work with him like a drummer and bassist I know, who said he is a two faced person, who said he knocks people for some sin, then he turns around and does the same thing on the road. Drinks tons of wine, flirts, and badmouths. Sounds like a loser to me.
Ok, I will share this with him and see what he says. Thanks for the heads up!! GOD BLESS!
(But now that I think about it, before you "pretended" you didn't even know him. LOL! Who's zoomin who, here...hmmm.. sounds like someone's speaking out of both sides of his mouth...oh well..that's the world for ya!!)
Michelle, I didn't say I was to knowledgeable, about this guy. I never heard about him, till the 2001 Stryper Expo, and saw his CD's, other bands were making jokes about. Everyone had angry stories to say about his touring behavior. Rumor means nothing, but all were in agreement about his big mouth, and put downs about other Christians. He made fun of his own bandmates, and knocked their ability to play. I won't gossip, but this guy is "MEAN"!
Craig,I just don't know what to say, but that I'm hurt to find out that he is like this, if in fact he is. But I will take your word on it and pray for him. I just don't remember him ever being like this, you know? I don't want to argue about it, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Michelle, you are very kind, and make me feel bad. Please, I didn't mean to upset you, but warn you about Tamplin. The reason I even mentioned it, was because Tamplin hurt someone very badly, that I met, and cared for. People learn to step on others, when they yearn for the world, and its treasures. He has no right to be a teacher of Christ, when he betrays others. God Bless you, Michelle, Craig
Dear Craig, (or is this really Joshua again?) You talk a lot about how I judge, hurt & backstab, but who is really judging, hurting and backstabbing? I have played with the same band members since the early 90's. Been happily married for 24 years. My 25-year reputation speaks for itself. It's serving, living and finishing well before God... Not hanging out on message boards saying lame things about people.
Craig/Joshua, I know Ken and what you've said is totally bogus. Just because YOU are the one that was supposedly "hurt" not "someone you met" YOU need to get over it and MOVE ON! Your comments don't even warrant a response, but I felt you left me no choice.
You are Ken, or his groupie. Another loud mouth, protecting who? The brainwashing Tamplin. My name is Craig Becker pal, and will be glad to meet you, anytime you want, tough guy. Because I don't like his music, or politics, you both gang up on me. I have friends, that would love to meet up with you two Christian bouncers, anytime. It's Craig, got it, "CRAIG"!
Actually Craig, I must confess, I spoke with Mr. Tamplin about this because it deeply hurt what you said about him so he just set the record straight for my sake (not his). Please, for Jesus, let's stop this now, ok? No more arguing or threatening. (Mr. Tamplin wasn't threatening)
Hey Ken, I don't judge anyone, but say my mind like you. You knock the band Joshua right here on YouTube, and "judge". I never heard about you till an article some years ago, where other Christians were angry at you. I see they are right. I am not Joshua pal, but intend to email his website with your hate. I met him at a show, and he said nothing against you. Don't visit any hospitals in West L.A. pal.
Craig/Joshua, The only hate and threats here are coming from you. You say you are a nurse and yet threaten my life using hospitals in west LA as the medium to carry out your threats, and then post your "real" name "Craig Becker"(ok, should I let the authorities know? I'll give them your "real" name).
I've done nothing to you. I haven't been in your band in 21 years!!!! Joshua, let it go, the hate is going to kill you.
jealousy is a bad thing.just accept the fact that ken tamplin rocks and then you'll feel better.Jesus bless you all.Rock on ken.that guitar player is awsome.anyone who thinks this music stinks are people who are taken over by the devils lies to hell with the devil!! he stinks. Jesus is Great!!!

What stands up better to scrutiny? DNA evidence - or the dogmatic scribblings of Bronze Age goat herders?
You say that conclusions reached by an Oxford biologist are stupid - while thinking (wrongly) that evolution is all about chance (try: selection).
Why "Jesus" (not Zuess or Thor) in your belief system? Explain that without resorting to dogma.

my LIFE IS JESUS
I DONT BELIEVE IN A RELIGION
I BELIVIE EN JESUS

Religion maybe not...but Jesus Christ, The Most POWERFUL being in existence should be represented by powerful music. My relationship with Jesus Christ has very little to do with religion.

I think this guys is possibly the best hard rock vocalist I've ever heard...period. He's an actual SINGER, not just a screamer. Thumbs up!

what band are you in.
FIREHOUSE731F 3 years ago
I have collected everything I got my hands on of Ken. Anyone with a decent DVD-collection of videos? Not too much available in Finland.
I found In The Witness Box and Tamplin in a secondhandstore and the latter just blows my speakers it is so well mixed.

Hey did you know Ken Tamplin is Sammy Hagars cousin?
PastDar 4 years ago 5
Awesome video.
Ken - Thank you so much for what you've sacrificed to make music about the Lord.
And as far as the detractor who kept posting here, what a great proof that you're music and message have been right on!

zenmun? Scott is that you???? Dude it's been a long time if this is you. This is Gino. I don't know if you remember me, but I used to take lessons from you back in the early 90's. I found Ken's video a while back and check it out every so often. How have you been??
WillKirkCowTown 4 years ago
The guitarist is Scott Van Zen who lives right down the street from me. Just had an excellent lesson from him the other day.

Ron, you dork.

CrappyApple001 4 years ago
does thin have lanny cordola? i know he guested on ken's albums.
TheLostTruckDriver 4 years ago
Lanny doesn't play on this song. But check out the whole cd if ya can still find it (probably on Amazon.....) Lanny does some serious jammin on it.
CrappyApple001 4 years ago
Oh my, this guitarist makes Eddy Van Halen look drunk. Sheesh. Incredible.

This singer looks and sounds wierd. He is trying to hard to prove something. Is he Christian?
CraigBecker316 5 years ago
You would say that about Sammy Hagar's cousin!! LOL!
I've met Mr. Tamplin and let me tell you he's definetly not weird!! He is an awesome guy who loves the Lord...
Michelle062970 4 years ago 2
I would say, "Say what you want", Michelle, but work with him like a drummer and bassist I know, who said he is a two faced person, who said he knocks people for some sin, then he turns around and does the same thing on the road. Drinks tons of wine, flirts, and badmouths. Sounds like a loser to me.
CraigBecker316 4 years ago
Ok, I will share this with him and see what he says. Thanks for the heads up!! GOD BLESS!
(But now that I think about it, before you "pretended" you didn't even know him. LOL! Who's zoomin who, here...hmmm.. sounds like someone's speaking out of both sides of his mouth...oh well..that's the world for ya!!)
Michelle062970 4 years ago 2
Michelle, I didn't say I was to knowledgeable, about this guy. I never heard about him, till the 2001 Stryper Expo, and saw his CD's, other bands were making jokes about. Everyone had angry stories to say about his touring behavior. Rumor means nothing, but all were in agreement about his big mouth, and put downs about other Christians. He made fun of his own bandmates, and knocked their ability to play. I won't gossip, but this guy is "MEAN"!
CraigBecker316 4 years ago
Craig,I just don't know what to say, but that I'm hurt to find out that he is like this, if in fact he is. But I will take your word on it and pray for him. I just don't remember him ever being like this, you know? I don't want to argue about it, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Michelle062970 4 years ago
Michelle, you are very kind, and make me feel bad. Please, I didn't mean to upset you, but warn you about Tamplin. The reason I even mentioned it, was because Tamplin hurt someone very badly, that I met, and cared for. People learn to step on others, when they yearn for the world, and its treasures. He has no right to be a teacher of Christ, when he betrays others. God Bless you, Michelle, Craig
CraigBecker316 4 years ago

Your comments don't even warrant a response, but I felt you left me no choice.
mogbartholomew 4 years ago 2
You are Ken, or his groupie. Another loud mouth, protecting who? The brainwashing Tamplin. My name is Craig Becker pal, and will be glad to meet you, anytime you want, tough guy. Because I don't like his music, or politics, you both gang up on me. I have friends, that would love to meet up with you two Christian bouncers, anytime. It's Craig, got it, "CRAIG"!
CraigBecker316 4 years ago
Actually Craig, I must confess, I spoke with Mr. Tamplin about this because it deeply hurt what you said about him so he just set the record straight for my sake (not his). Please, for Jesus, let's stop this now, ok? No more arguing or threatening. (Mr. Tamplin wasn't threatening)
Michelle062970 4 years ago 2
Hey Ken, I don't judge anyone, but say my mind like you. You knock the band Joshua right here on YouTube, and "judge". I never heard about you till an article some years ago, where other Christians were angry at you. I see they are right. I am not Joshua pal, but intend to email his website with your hate. I met him at a show, and he said nothing against you. Don't visit any hospitals in West L.A. pal.
CraigBecker316 4 years ago
Craig/Joshua, The only hate and threats here are coming from you. You say you are a nurse and yet threaten my life using hospitals in west LA as the medium to carry out your threats, and then post your "real" name "Craig Becker"(ok, should I let the authorities know? I'll give them your "real" name).
I've done nothing to you. I haven't been in your band in 21 years!!!! Joshua, let it go, the hate is going to kill you.
