  • Hey I saw on the news this evening that in the next winter games you women will be jumping in events. Actually only one. But none the less. Show em woman strong. Like ox...

  • well ,well, well, women ski jumpers will compete in the next olympics,no shit.i boycotted the mens final hockey game with sid the kid in support of the women ski jumpers.after each jump i want to see the beauty of the women ski jumpers.i would like to have babys with them.why mike scott canada?its simple they have balls of steel.mike scott canada 1955 and again 2011.

  • women....STAY IN THE KITCHEN!

  • Don't think letting women compete with men would do the "marketing trick?"

Those of us who are old enough can remember how interest in women's tennis was all be "dead." Then came along Billy Jean King who callenged Bobby Riggs. After that historic match, women's tennis was back on the map and caught up to the men's interest within a few years.

  • Clearly, the IOC are horrible at marketing skills. I've been researching the web and found articles on how the FIS and IOC are concerned about ski jumping fading from popularity compared to other winter sports. One article implied how many in the IOC wouldn't mind seeing ski jumping disappear, but feel like they should keep "only because" of its Olympic roots.

Well, here's an idea - you want more audience and more interest - let the women compete with the men....now that's marketing!

  • "...Dangerous from a medical point of view and not appropriate for women?"

WOW, if I didn't know better, I'd swear that was a recording right out of the 1920's.

Shameful, how little we have come since then.

  • HA! How ironic Lindsey Van has the longest jump at the Vancouver facility...longer than any of the men. That's what AP reported.

  • enough with women's ski jumping....where's my dinner?

  • Ski-Jumping not for women? Fucking sexists!

    (BTW I am a man)

  • Why don't they make it universal and have both the men and women compete together ? It doesn't appear to be a strength event.

  • As a former ski jumper myself, I agree wih most of the comments on this page. This clip proves that woman can be as good as there male counterparts and mostlikely, they will agree with me. Its simply rediculous to denaie this fine young athletes there forum to compete in the olympics. Go girls GO!!!!

  • ski jumping is a sport???

  • Dangerous from a medical point of view and not appropriate for women?

WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THAT?!

Ski jumping is a much safer sport than alpine skiing for Christ's sake! Not to mention luge or skeleton...

Not practiced widely enough? Last season there's been 110 women from 15 countries and 3 continents competing in official international tournaments. They say 25 countries, but in men's ski jumping only 20 countries participated in last year's World Cup... So what's the deal?

  • i am not fit for ski jumping, does this mean men should not be jumping anymore ,_,?

  • Women are more agile in ski-jumping thus less likely to fall, maybe this is the issue... we might possibly be doing better so we (women) get restrained for being better?

  • No, you get restrained for having far fewer competetors than men. Just like men cant compete in synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics because there are not enough athletes. I dont see this as a matter of gender.

  • But there aren't technically enough competitors in women's hockey either; it just brings in a lot of money!

  • Why is it always the old "HUMPS" who are making the decisions for woman as to what is physically safe or not. It's agregious.

  • that is just awful. It is out right discrimination. Who is the IOC to say that it is too dangerous for women? if they want to ski jump then go ahead and let them!

  • The only real explanation why women ski jumpers aren't in the Olympics is old-fashioned discrimination. Don't kid yourself, the IOC can change the rules if they want. It's time for some new blood on that board that's not afraid of promoting talented women athletes kicking some serious butt off those jumps. If you see these women jump you know they deserve Olympic recognition. The comments on the video belong in the archives with all the other bigoted thoughts of the past.

  • This is incredible! These girls should be jumping in the Olympics. It simply is not right. What a cast of clowns, Gian Franco, Dick Pound and Sarah Lewis. Get with it IOC and FIS. Go girls Go!
