I want to be a nurse-midwife - I think the whole process is so beautiful. Ideally I'd like to specialize in home births or join a birth clinic that really puts comfort first. Just out of curiosity - do you breastfeed? Send me a message if you want to answer but don't want to do so here.
Ariana, that is wonderful! I also wish to pursue homebirth midwifery, when my children are older and don't need me so much. Yes, I am breastfeeding. We are still nursing at 15 months. Sadly, I wasn't so informed with my first two so he's really my first nursling and what a world of difference. Good luck with your career, we need more midwives!
I became a mom at 17...it was incredibly difficult and I had a lot to learn. It can be done, but I would never suggest to someone that they plan it until they are settled and in a secure relationship.
I won't lie, it gets intense, that's why it's called labor. But it is over as quickly as it begins when your child is born, and the rush of endorphins sends you to the moon!
Towards the end (transition) it became intense. He was my third child, second natural birth. I had prepared to manage the pain through visualization, movement (like dancing) and changing positions as my body told me. So to answer, yes, it was painful, but not to the extent that many women try to make you believe.
In time, you'll come to view birth as a beautiful and natural thing. When we put aside our immaturity we can really value the beauty of life and what a gift natural birth is for the baby.
2 and a half years later and I could relive this moment over and over still. *sigh*

Just curious...why did you say "whole baby boy"?
Edfox023 3 years ago
I used that term because our son was born whole to us and we left him that way, meaning we did not circumcise our son. :)

Oh ok, just wondering, my wife is 14 weeks today, and we are hoping for a girl!
