  • that looks and sounds like the guitar i lost in 1970's. Even the scratches around the soundhole look like it. beautiful. if only i could someday find that guitar. enjoy.

  • I can see improvement in technique between this video and your older ones

  • thank you.

  • very well done, my only complaint is the video quality. bravo!

  • bravo!

  • Hey I absolutely love your playing. You are very good thank you for the vid

  • I can not spend a day without listening it. So awesome, but do you know where can I find Paco Pena's original version, it is not in youtube

  • Comment removed

  • also u got nice guitar:)

    I like it

  • do you have the music to this?

  • Well, if this is sloppy... It's inspiration enough, and very enjoyable. Thanks for taking the time to record it regardless. Loving it!

  • Outstanding!!!

  • The guitar sounds beautiful and I wish i could play like that

  • is that a capo on the neck,? it doesn't look like a common capo

  • @3dpaper 100 years ago it was common enough. Back then the "common" Jim Dunlop capo wold have looked very strange and uncommon. It's all relative. A capo is a capo. There are many designs these days. The one I use in the video is a traditional design featuring leather strap, nylon chord and wooden peg.

  • @hersoveela it looks really cool, i like it better than the common ones

  • @YDG777 But not better than mine :P

  • Sal , do you use the AMP in this video?

  • @RIDDLE0MASTER There is no Amp.

  • it doesn't matter how beat up the guitar look... Listen to how he plays the guitar. its beautiful. now thats music to my ears.

  • That guitar looks old and beat up but it sounds surpricingly good.

_Might have something to do with your playing, but do you know wich maker its from?

A good guitar is a good guitar:-)

    I like your videos btw

  • @Bluenotebird Info about this guitar is at the website. Look in the navigation menu.

  • Very Good!

  • Sloppy playing?! That was great! I gotta admit that of all the flamenco styles, rumbas are my favorite, maybe because of my background (cuban). And that guitar sounds terrific! how old is it?

  • Great *****

  • Comment removed

  • well, it makes a real difference once you use condenser mic. superb interpretation.

  • can you give an excersice to be better in this art?

    congratulation man

    saludos desde mexico

  • Wow! That is amazing! I've listened to this I don't know how many times already. Where can I find the tabs to this song? Thanks for making these awesome videos!

  • wow...awesome.....: )

  • I really like the rhythmic feel you give this more than in the original! Paco Pena plays it clean, yours is 'rougher', more 'driving' and all the better for it!

  • yeah would be cool to hear paco play it when he is really pissed or something...

  • oleee tus huevos!!

  • man i wish i had your guitar skills, compared to your skills and my skills. im on the baby level..

  • love it! fantastiko!

  • Very nice

  • tio eres un maestro!!!!

  • at 1:50 you're the only one who plays this part of the song using this strumming pattern. i don't think it's in paco pena's version but its pretty cool. i would love if you could explain this strumming in a coming video. thx.

  • how know a link or somthihng, that i can find the orejinal songs by paco pena ?

  • awesome!! you are great guitarist man!!

May the force be with you and R.I.P. our bro DIME!!

  • If your sloppy is my super...What does that make my playing???!

I think you still showed the passion you usually do in other pieces I've seen.Loved it. :)

  • Relax Marsh, Didn't read the words "Sal is Amazing"?...sheesh.

  • why not? Sal is amazing, and this video doesn't compare to his others. Just my opinion.

  • Course it´s not up to Pacos form but you can´t compare the guy to a virtuoso who turned pro at age 12...Well played Sal very inspiring!

    Greetings from Sweden

  • It's a tad sloppy and not to Paco's form...but it's ok.

  • I think that was a bit harsh saying that "It's Okay". I play guitar, not in that style but he is a very good guitarist.

  • good job good job good job!!!! 5/5 nice dude

  • Verry nice.

  • Beautiful playing, we've been waiting to hear more from you and you have not disappointed. Bravo, sir!

  • I didn't realize you were that old, but you still have a lively soul. All your years of experience really pays off and now you are an amazing musician. I'm pretty sure that you are in your prime years of music which usually comes around this age.

  • You play really beautyful and deserve 6 stars. Listening to you motivates me play even more.

    Thank you

  • your an amazing guitarist, I envy you!

  • Hmm, I do not hear the sloppy playing. It always sounds wonderful.

  • A great guitarist like you deserves a new guitar.

  • nice man i want to learn flamenco

  • You will never have so much fun elsewhere.

    Nor play more beutifull guitar.

    --Van

  • The playing is great and that's a lovely guitar

  • Hey i have just read what some people say about the guitar ,,, that i very immature , and really the more old the guitar the more valuable it is ,,, and really it looks cool , and yeah i listen to ur music :)

    greetings from Syria :)

  • wow your a insperation to learn flamenco

  • You are great !

    Perfect playing !!

    best regards from Austria,

    wolfgang

  • Thanks Wolfgang. Greetings from Australia.

    Sal

  • No complaints from me, that's great.

    --Van

  • Many thanks Van.

    Sal

  • Good to see ya again Sal!

  • Thanks. Nice of you to stop by.

    Sal

  • Great

  • That was incredibly amazing my friend!

You truly are very very talented

I also like that capo, What kind of capo is it?

  • Thank you. A man from Florida makes these traditional capos. If you want to know more search on Google for "tony arnold cejillas" (without quotes). Look for chiyostrings blog.

    Sal

  • Muy buena me gusto :D!

  • Right on, Sal.

  • My hands are hurting just watching. Perfecto my friend.

  • was that take six? Since you show six fingers in the beginning ;)

I love it, as always, looking forward to seeing/hearing more movies from you!

    my idol... ;)

  • Yes. It was take six. I tried several times to edit out the first few frames of this video. In the end I gave up because it was getting too late and I had to get to sleep. I had to start work early the next day. More videos coming soon.

    Sal

  • I like your playing but also your guitar. Is it a flamenco negra?

  • Thank you. Information about my guitar is on my website. Look in the menu for "About this site/about my guitar."

    Sal

  • Man I was wondering when you would make a video.

    Awesome man!

We all get sloppy playing guitar when we should have gone to bed, but as an artist/musician I know how you can't sleep unless you draw or play what you're thinking off to put your mind to rest.

    Awesome job man, 5/5

What is your guitar by the way, I always wondered; it looks old but sounds beautiful. Must be worth a lot by now!

  • Thank you. I am my worst critic that's for sure. Information about my guitar is on my wenbote. Look in the menu for "About this site/about my guitar." I don't know what it's worth. Many people would doubt that it's worth anything, but to me it's priceless.

    Sal

  • OMG! Amazing, I wish I could play as well as you!

  • Not sloppy at all. Good.

  • Passionate Rustic Inspiration... Thank you Sal.

  • WOW you are amazing!!!!!!! do you have the taps for this???? can i find it in your website????

  • Thanks,

This music is from a book by Paco Pena called Toques Flamencos.

    Sal

  • ur back! and better than ever!

    123456789/5 stars!

if there were such a thing xD

  • It sounds like I've been away on a journey. In a way I have. Much introspection and reassessment. The Himalayan hermit cave I was renting got too expensive so I came back to sea level.

    Sal

  • Bravo

    Muy bueno!!!

  • fantastic as always!

  • Great to see you back Sal! Great performance.

  • I've been pretty slack really. My lame excuse is that I've been busy with my new website. It's good to be back and see such positive and encouraging comments.

    Sal

  • Nice. Waiting for a new videos.

    Greet

    Artur

  • Wow man!

  • you are so cool and good!

  • I love this song and Paco Pena, thanks so much!

  • Thanks Edina. I'm glad you like it. You probably realize I left a section out. This is mainly because I never learned it properly, but also because I was never too keen on the way it slowed down and stopped in the middle. I prefer to keep great little piece this moving along and finish with reasuados instead of slowed down arpeggios.

    Sal

  • Hey,

cool song ... it is fun to hear you playing ....

  • incidentally the lighting looks fine!

  • It's just a technical issue that bugs me. The original video is clear and looks reasonable, lighting wise, but when I see it on YouTube parts of it looks kinda blurry and darkish. I'm working on it.

    Sal

  • hi sal, good to see a new video from you!

sloppy playing? what on earth do you mean?! :-P

absolutely brilliant! 5 stars (of course)

how is life in the land of oz anyway? :-)

    your friend in scotland

    derek :-)

  • Hi Derek,

Many more videos to come. I mean I made a few mistakes. That makes me nervous and uncomfortable, especially since I haven't posted anything for ages. I guess it wasn't that bad but it could be better is all. Life in Oz is slow and a bit cold at the moment. I'm just getting over a nasty bout of the dreaded lurgy. I'll be posting a few Juan Martin El Arte pieces soon. I hope you're making progress with this book. There is a lot of cool stuff in it.

    Cheers,

    Sal

  • very nice ... thanks a lot

  • You play this so well, fantastic energy of the piece. Thanks so much for sharing, your videos always brighten the day.

  • Thanks. Your Carolan's Concerto brightened my day. You have an special energy of your own.

    Sal

  • Oh wow, you really looked like you loved playing that. Sounded like it too, your playing was amazing. Gives hope to aspiring players like myself. 5*.

  • Thanks. It's always a buzz to play this stuff.

    Sal

  • paco pena huh ? very nice one , i started to learn it then i stopped now after i saw ur video u gave me momentum again i will grab my guitar n come back :))) very nice , keep it up :)

  • It's a great piece of music and well worth learning.

    Sal

  • i just wonder why is this marked as spam

  • this is perfect!!! =D
