How well I remember Cornell! He always had a smile whenever I saw him in the studio, or simply around the country. Just thought of him, ran across this vid posted and grooved! Such a big sound off that Mikell's small stage.
Thanks for this. Used to hang out at Mikells when he played there. If there are more videos from those shows, please post them. One of the finest guitar players of all time, and king of the shuffle.
We lost another good one today. Very sad news. He'd played down here in Austin just a couple of months ago and I was looking forward to a return trip from him. Damn.
First time ever i've seen Cornell play a Les Paul. Been a loyal fan of his since his early days with Donny Hathaway and before. I have every album he ever made. He slips and slides into notes with ease and makes the guitar talk! (alot like Amos Garrett) The king of glissando.
Thank you so much for posting this video. So few people know of Cornell but they have certainly heard him without knowing. He is one of the most important players to me and my playing and this couple of minutes makes me real happy.. wish there were more.. JT
I agree 100% Cornell is one of the unsung heros of Funk/R&B. Hell, not many people know this, but Cornell and Jimi Hendrix (along with Chuck Rainey) were is King Curtis' band at the same time! There's actually a few tracks with the lineup floating around.

RIP May 9 2011. The great, the incomparable, unique Cornell Dupree.
A tremendous loss to the music world. An inspiring musician and a gentle soul.
