  • Normally, it is easy to trash anyone's "top ten list", but I very much agreed with yours, though different order. I have over 250 great SEGA Saturn games and can't imagine trying to pick only ten.

One game that has a lot of programmers' charm, and I feel is a gem that mostly gets overlooked, is Three Dirty Dwarves.

And probably the BEST game (only because of the game hidden in it) is Duke Nukem 3D, BECAUSE of "Death Tank Zwei".

    Those who know... understand.

7-player Death Tank frag, all night!

  • I recommend Gex, by the way.

  • Karaoke version of Super Sonic Racing? Pussy. :P

  • nights into dreams :DDD holy shit memories...

  • good music...and list

  • OK! Can someone please tell me the name of this game, ok, it was 1-4 players, You play as a builder and you moved across the screen, the whole point of that game was to demolish the terrain with your hammer to get points to progress further and you could also hide in your helmet and be put in cannons to access secrets by other players and so on, its quite a puzzle game to??? anyone?

  • @Alileopil

    Hi,

Sounds like the game you're thinking of is 'Trash It'

  • PFF BEST SATURN GAME IS GUARDIAN HEROES XMEN VS STREET FIGHTER PANZER DRAGOON series SATURN BOMBERMAN NIGHT VIRTUA COP 2 LAST BRONX SEGA RALLY DRAGON FORCE SHINING FORCE that's all!
  • Great list. I traded my Playstation One for a Saturn a few months after the Playstation was released in the UK. I still think it was a good idea. Sega had so much charm and character back then.

  • hey pete just wanted to say thanks for the video, ive recently picked up a saturn (never owned one back in the day so everythings new to me, i found a few games from this list im interested in looking at guardian heroes, nights and the panzer dragoon games looks like a lot of fun :D) cheers mate

  • @numberedeyes

Excellent! I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. If you get your hands on Nights, try and get the Analogue controller with it too, it makes the game far, far more enjoyable. Have a look at other people's top tens too. Despite claims to the contrary, there are a lot of fantastic games out there for the Saturn! :)

  • @Epicurista1 Hi, the name of the song is 'Sona Mi Areru Ec Sancitu'

  • Almost grade 10! Only missing shinning force and golden axe: the duel, but it's a good top ten!

  • You put a snowboarding game in for the Saturn's top 10 and you call yourself a gamer!?! Fucking hypocrite.

  • @DrewGamerFX

    1. The fact that you referred to it as a snowboarding 'game' makes me think it would be something a 'gamer' might play. 2. I have never called myself a gamer on YouTube. 3. You call yourself a gamer however, so as one shouldn't you enjoy the miriad of gaming experiences on offer? Snowboarding games being one of them? 4. Why so much hatred for this genre? Did a snowboarding game once steal your girlfriend or insult your mum? I bet it was Cool Boarders, that one's a trouble maker!

  • @Pete5475 No, a snowboarding game is something a CASUAL FAGGOT might play. Besides, you could've put other, better games here, like Astal, nd SONIC R????? That game was shit.

  • @DrewGamerFX So we're resorting to name calling now? Well done. To be fair, this is the only snowboarding game I like, never got into Amped, SSX etc. I'm not sure a 'casual faggot' would have even heard of a Saturn let alone ever owned one! Being a fellow gamer, it would have been fun to discuss my collection of 1,500 games, 20 consoles etc, but no, for some reason my gaming status boils down to ONE game... Weird. Also, I love Sonic, always have. Only played Astal briefly. Pretty but dull IMO.

  • @Pete5475 Astal isn't dull. And if you love Sonic, why are you playing the Saturn? The Saturn sucks, anyway.

  • @DrewGamerFX If you think the Saturn sucks, why did you watch the video in the first place? Admittedly the Saturn isn't the best platfrom for Sonic, though some of Sonic Team's best output (NiGHTS, Burning Rangers) are on the system. I own most consoles that Sonic has been released on, though even he won't tempt me into buying a Wii... Although I do really want to play Sonic Colours!

  • @Pete5475 The Wii is definitely better than the Saturn.Sega failed to bring their lead mascot (as well as many others, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, VectorMan, Phantasy Star). The Satur might've not sucked if it was made by someone else besides Sega, but Sega fucked the Saturn up pretty bad, and it was a dissapointment.

  • @DrewGamerFX It now seems like you're arguing for arguements sake. You start off bemoaning 'casual gamers' then you point out you like the Wii. Which is great if you enjoy one decent game being released every 6 months. The Saturn was a commercial failure, but anyone who's played its best games would never say it sucked. There was a Golden Axe game on it (albeit a one on one beat em up) but Sega converted their newest arcade games (Sega Rally, Virtua Cop etc) instead.

  • @Pete5475 How can you say that the Wii is lacking in quality titles while praising the anemic amount of content on Saturn? Mad World, House of the Dead Overkill, Monster Hunter Tri, Castle Shikigami 3, Sin and Punishment 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Red Steel 2, Metroid Prime 3, and Smash Bros. Brawl aren't hardcore enough for you? Golden Axe was a mindless button masher with laughably bad AI even on the Genesis, and the Saturn spin-off is horrible.

  • You forgot Virtual On

  • @Noodle1423 I could never afford it with the twin stick controller and didn't enjoy playing it with just the pad!

  • lol @ guardian heros i could draw this left handed XD.... but still cool looking.

  • when it came down to arcade ports sega saturn SHIT ALL OVER SONY!

  • What is the name of the song that plays last?

  • @Huitapng

It's called 'Sona Mi Areru Ec Sancitu'

  • Panzer dragon saga was amazing

  • Many times I look at my Saturn hidden in the corner... always feeling like it was a cruel abortion, taken from this planet too early. Some real great stuff came out of it, but no where near enough. It still has a place in my heart as one of my favorite systems. *pats my saturn goodnight*

  • what is so great about nights, that game disapointed me when I played the demo of it when it came out. free flying gameplay my butt. and it had a "special" controller for it too, pleh.

  • I have always wanted to play Panzer Dragon...

  • Panzer dragon remind me..kinda..World Of Warcraft.

  • Good list... Personally, NOTHING comes close to touching Panzer Dragoon Saga in my book. RPG's are my least favorite genre, but when I bought that game when it 1st came out, I knew I just played one of, if not "THE" greatest games ever made. I now have three copies, two which have never been opened.

  • @jstark069

My thoughts exactly! I never thought I would like it as I wasn't 'into' RPGs at the time but fell in love straight away! I'm currently playing through it again, a friend's joining me this time just so he can appreciate the story. I've just reached the Forest of Zoah!

  • a lot of people may disagree but i could never see what was so great about guardian heros.

  • Gaurdian Hereos should be No1

  • @TheNintendoviews

i know i want to play it so bad theres gota be a way + Website were i can pirate that shit or something cuz damn it looks fuckin fun. Were are u Saturn emulators!!!? I want to burn rangers damn it! They need to remake that shit for PC w/ better graphix so i can pirate it lol. Looks awesome even with old graphix i wana play it whyd u have to remind me lol. :O

  • aww come on wheres parodius??? :((

  • @MaashooRock

It's called 'Angels with Burning Hearts' from the Burning Rangers Soundtrack!

  • woah burning rangers looks fun as hell i also love that dragon game havent played either but if they were remastered on today's consels/pc's with better graphics those game swud be epic as hell. :o

  • Burning Rangers is awesome!

  • Hey pete, I have my own sega saturn and it's a japanese version.

You should definitely check out rayman 1 (best rayman game and brilliantly thought out levels, none of the broken 3D broken crap) Saturn Bomberman (best bomberman game ever, great mounts and co op story stages) Puzzle Fighter II.

I want to have panzer dragon because it looks great C:

  • @Mr1diot

    Hi.

I have Rayman and Saturn Bomberman (Which was my Mum's favourite game! :) but never bought Super Puzzle Fighter II

  • My favourites are virtua fighter 2, earthworm jim 2, and street fighter alpha. The saturn has one of the best controllers for fighting games

  • FINE ALL E

someone like me actually has gotten Panzer Dragoon Saga and likes it (I know it's really rare)

    Great job bra

  • @Andthatswhymacssuck

It's not just my favourite game on the Saturn, probably one of my favourite on any system!

  • @Pete5475 It's also one of my favorite games ever

But, it falls short of Shenmue to me so.......................

Whatever PDS was worth the money anyway (got it at a bargain though, only $200)

  • @Pete5475

I was lucky, I found my copy for £25 about a year after it was released!

  • Guardian heroes should be higher.

  • aww man liked your video , i was hoping to see manx tt super bike. that game was the tits . also rayman and croc.

  • Nice list, I like it

  • im sick of everyone saying that panzer dragoon saga is the best saturn game ever its a overaided peac of shit thats not worth $200

  • Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Why don't you like it? How far did you get when you played it?

  • Well..I mean..the game looks amazing.

  • @philj77 You're spelling isn't worth $2. It's a over aided peac.

  • @philj77 I bought it for 30 bucks when it 1st came out. I worked part at Toys R Us. I read how only 500 were made and went back to the store and bought the other 2. Only 3 copies were shipped to Omaha, Nebraska. I have never opened the other 2. You are very correct that they are overpriced, but they are a collectors item due to rarity (U.S. version). People wanting to play it should get the 4-1 converter and find the PAL version. WAAAY cheaper.

  • Is fighter R a ripoff of the tekken series? I saw alot of similar characters

  • If you mean Fighters Megamix, no. It's characters from Virtua Fighter (which came before Tekken) and Fighting Vipers.

All characters in fighting games seem to look the same these days anyway!

  • 1. Sonic-R (most fun game ever, best graphics + bouncy tunes)

    2.Christmas Nights (memories!)

    3. sega rally (best driving game, 2 wheel turns with 1st gear! and some nice drifts!)

    4. panzer dragoon (style of its own)

    5. daytona usa

    7. tomb raider (best TR game to date)

    8. Wip3out

    9. Virtua Racing

    10. Worms (Oh dear!)

Now that is the best top 10 ever ! from my point of view. so many memories from games like sonic R, sega rally and xmas nights into dreams long live saturn and dreamcast!

  • thats funny i thought the Saturn was 64 bits if its 32 bits then why did they not just stick with the 32x

  • @anima12321 The 32X wasn't 'true' 32bit. More of a stopgap between the Mega Drive and Saturn to keep people interested. Unfortunately it had a counter-effect and lead to people losing faith in Sega.

  • @Pete5475 hello. Could you please help me find out what the name of the song is that plays at the end during the Panzer Dragoon saga? I'm guessing it is part of the soundtrack of one of the panzer games. If you happen to know the name of the song or even just which panzer game/level it appears in I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! =)

  • Hi.

If you mean the ending theme that plays over the credits, it's called 'Sona Mi Areru Ec Sancitu'. Let me know if that's it. If you want, message me your email address and I'll send you the MP3 file!

  • Thanks a lot for the mp3 offer but no need to worry about that. You helped me out more than enough with the name alone. I'm actually playing it in the background as I learn how to type fast online. It's very motivating.

  • bits don't matter, look at the jaguar

  • Good point :)

  • Great list, although personally I'd rank Burning Rangers higher than Sonic R (though I love both games) and put Shining Force III somewhere on there (maybe instead of the snowboarding game?), but other than that commendable list.

  • i give you many awesome points for having both Burning Rangers and NiGHTS into Dreams... on this!

  • Why the fuck no Shining Force 3 in ANY top 10 list of SS?

  • you put double franchis arrrrrr am only kiding of course

  • Everybody Zooper Zawnick Racin

  • that was the top 10? thank god i never got a Saturn.

  • I wonder what you look for in your video games then, friend? These games are marvels in game design with brilliant graphics, wonderful soundtracks, and above all, stellar gameplay (Steep Slope Sliders and Sonic R are largely considered just average, but the point stands for the rest). This list obviously draws from the weaker western library, meaning the likes of Radiant Silvergun and Bulk Slash are omitted, but that's okay. Regardless, this list needs some Shining Force III and Dragon Force! =D

  • im just saying in general the sega satern has a weak selection of games.i remember near the time when it came out my friend would still ask me to bring my ps1 over with me even though he had a sega saturn. but your right this list is lame notice how there is not one rpg or light gun game. and no Die Hard Arcade Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Quake Metal Slug Lunar: Eternal Blue Lunar: Silver Star Story Resident Evil Samurai Showdown IV Dracula X Bust A Move 2 Marvel vs. Street Fighter Vampire Savior
  • Command & Conquer Pandemonium Mega Man 8 Doom Mega Man X3 King Of Fighters Gradius Herc's Adventures House of the Dead Battle Arena Toshinden Street Fighter Alpha Myst World Heroes Perfect trust me dude i know video games ive been doing it for 20 years.
  • Well, he could only fit 10 games into it, man. And he did have an RPG, easily one of the best of the 32-bit generation: Panzer Dragoon Saga. Seems to me like you're proving his point by showing all of the games he could have included. If you ask me, a top 10 Saturn games is incredibly hard to do well; alot of the games are on a fairly equal pedestal of greatness. I mean, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, Bomberman, Virtua Cop 2, and Die Hard Arcade are all US games that deserve a place.

  • The real shame is that the likes of Bernie Stolar fucked up the Saturn's US library so hard. In Japan the Saturn was THE hardcore system; here in America they claimed that it was, but it really wasn't. The most hardcore games were either left in Japan or brought over in stupidly low numbers. But I mean Christ, GRANDIA wasn't brought over? Are you fucking kidding me? Dracula X would have undoubtedly been of higher quality on Saturn were there any chance of it being ported to the US.

  • I could go on and on. I feel that the Saturn is easily the most underrated system of all time (thankfully in recent years the Dreamcast has become to be placed on the higher pedestal which it deserves), and I actually prefer it to the Nintendo 64 even without its stallar Japanese library, but it should have been SO much more over here.

  • hear hear! the same thing happened to the ps2 actually. i had the privilege to be an exchange student in japan and i couldn't even number the amount of awesome games i played that never made it to the states. and though panzer dragoon dose have rpg elements its more of a game in its own class a hybrid of different ideas much like the game borderlands is today cant really label it an fps and you cant really label it a rpg ya know?

  • Yeah, Thunder Force VI for instance was a game I would've picked up in a split-second, but it didn't make it over here. Obviously though, Sony brought enough great titles here so as not to absolutely cripple the system like goddamn Sega of America did with the Saturn. And you really think so about Panzer Dragoon Saga? As a free-roaming adventure with a turn-based battle system, I feel like it falls pretty squarely under "RPG", but that's cool. As long as you acknowledge that it owns, we're cool!
