stone colds music is more abrupt. as soon as you hear the glass break its ridiculously exciting. the rocks is exciting as well but its "if you smell" more words which could effect how soon the people in the audience realize its the rock. the rock in 2000 was more popular the austin, who was not extremely active in that year. austin in 98-99 was the biggest man in the wrestling world bar none.
Stone Cold was the people's champ because he was the people, he was blue collar. The rock was a college athlete jock, talented, had everything going for him. Stone Cold built his fan through hard work and endeared himself to the fans
Its hard to say who got the biggest pop but in my opinion Stone Cold's one was probably slightly the loudest but who cares because it was these two superstars that I grew up watching and both were my favourites :)
I love them both. Stone Cold was the first person to come out and have this bad ass attitude of clearing house, then taking names later. Goldberg got the same pops in WCW because of the exact same attitude. Austin, like Goldberg, isn't the most technical guy, isn't the most skilled on the mic, but he had the attitude, the image, the music and the devastating finisher. Less is more, quality over quantity and all that jazz!
Thing is though, Austin is very techincal, watch his matches as Stunning Steve in WCW or him as the The Ringmaster in his early WWF days. Lots of holds and submissons, wrestled on the mat a lot. The SCSA we came to love was a bad-ass brawler and he played it to perfection. His mic skills were great too, watch his ECW promos in '95 and his attitude era promos (especially after his summerslam injury) which were brilliant with the right amount of comic.
Hell yeah I agree, he's a billion times better inside of the ring than Goldberg, that's for sure. But thankfully he had that somethin', that bad ass attitude to back it up. Funnily enough that's what seems to be missing from the WWE nowadays, PG-ERA or not, it could still do with a high dose of attitude.
The Rock is the greatest of all time! Vince said Austin was very difficult to work with, and he was a dick bc he walked out of 2 shows bc he didnt want to put ppl over yet HBK (was forced) to put him over at WM 98 Rock lost to him at WM 99 and Backlash 99, and lost again at WM 01. Stone Cold won this pop war. I compare Austin/Rock pop wars to the time between Unforgiven 2000 to WM17 in 2001. Thats the only time in the Attitude Era that both Stone Cold and the Rock were the dominant faces at the same time when WCW went under. Stone Cold out-popped Rock 90% of the time during those 6 or 7 months between the time Austin came back in October 2000 to when he turned heel in April 2001. Not to take anything away from the Rock but Austin out-popped him
Stone Cold was the master of pops, however, that doesn't make him better than the Rock. Rocky could cut a promo better than Austin, but that doesn't make him better than Austin. Both of them had their strengths and weaknesses. Most Hardcore wrestling fans seem to like Austin while your average fan seems to enjoy The Rock. As you said Austin was on Nash Bridges in 99 while he was still a 'phenomenom', however his role in that show he didn't garner a lot of attention as an actor. Nevertheless The Rock, who appearances on That 70's Show and The Net in 99 (the same time austin acted) helped him get a lot of recognition from movie directors. stone colds music is more abrupt. as soon as you hear the glass break its ridiculously exciting. the rocks is exciting as well but its "if you smell" more words which could effect how soon the people in the audience realize its the rock. the rock in 2000 was more popular the austin, who was not extremely active in that year. austin in 98-99 was the biggest man in the wrestling world bar none.

I love them both. Stone Cold was the first person to come out and have this bad ass attitude of clearing house, then taking names later. Goldberg got the same pops in WCW because of the exact same attitude. Austin, like Goldberg, isn't the most technical guy, isn't the most skilled on the mic, but he had the attitude, the image, the music and the devastating finisher. Less is more, quality over quantity and all that jazz!

Thing is though, Austin is very techincal, watch his matches as Stunning Steve in WCW or him as the The Ringmaster in his early WWF days. Lots of holds and submissons, wrestled on the mat a lot. The SCSA we came to love was a bad-ass brawler and he played it to perfection. His mic skills were great too, watch his ECW promos in '95 and his attitude era promos (especially after his summerslam injury) which were brilliant with the right amount of comic.

Stone Cold won this pop war. I compare Austin/Rock pop wars to the time between Unforgiven 2000 to WM17 in 2001. Thats the only time in the Attitude Era that both Stone Cold and the Rock were the dominant faces at the same time when WCW went under. Stone Cold out-popped Rock 90% of the time during those 6 or 7 months between the time Austin came back in October 2000 to when he turned heel in April 2001. Not to take anything away from the Rock but Austin out-popped him

Both of them had their strengths and weaknesses. Most Hardcore wrestling fans seem to like Austin while your average fan seems to enjoy The Rock. As you said Austin was on Nash Bridges in 99 while he was still a 'phenomenom', however his role in that show he didn't garner a lot of attention as an actor. Nevertheless The Rock, who appearances on That 70's Show and The Net in 99 (the same time austin acted) helped him get a lot of recognition from movie directors. Austin never had the same appeal outside of the wrestling universe like Rock

@abdi1983 well we cant compared Cena and Austin yeah for sure the both the top stars in his prime, but cena storyline became so boring because since WRESTLEMANIA 21 when he win the championship wwe always do the same shit every RAW,with stone cold when he win at WM 14 hes first title and he losted a few months after,wwe did great things with Stone cold, they handle that very well, thats why Austin never became boring, and thats the case of cena wwe wanted to that guy be on top all this years
