  • very tranquil!

  • Sorry, I'm a total beginner to meditation - going to try before I sleep tonight for the first time - so please excuse me if this is a stupid question, but does meditation offer any benefits to creativity? ie. Making music.

  • Hi Aspire85,

Thank you for your comment - yes, meditation definitely helps with creativity. I have found I have become much more creative since I started to meditate.

    Take care and be well,

    Piers

  • there should be more people like you on youtube amazing vids.

  • Hi Romka4567,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. I am glad you appreciated the video and wish you much happiness,

    Be well,

    Piers

  • Thank you for putting up this video. It helped me a lot! & I'll be looking forward to meditating more often. =) It's very relaxing & fun!

    =)

  • Piers: I just found your video. I started meditating this year... I will use your videos as a guide. I use the breathing method and sometimes I try visualisating objects. I will watch your videos to find different methods. Thanks for sharing you knowledge, I was looking for this for a long time. Thanks a lot.

  • This is fabulous! Just watching you is calming and relaxing to me.

  • /watch?v=8Vd3X6DJ1zg

  • No more weed for you :)

  • what type of meditation is this? Good video :)

  • Do you feel that the meditation helps you to keep calm and relaxed in stressful situation?

  • Hi,

Definitely - meditation is such a powerful tool. It helps to give you that distance between engaging and walking away from a situation.

I recommend it wholeheartedly - there is lots more info on this on website - the address you will find on my youtube homepage.

    Be well,

    Piers

  • whenever i meditate and find my center(or inner eye) i expirence the effect of smoking high grade salvia, its crazy. But drugs keep you from ataining Nirvana: same with sex, and earthly possesions. Even the Bible says: if you are being robbed by someone then let them rob you. Also remember that there is no such thing as a "self" you are only a vessle for this reality.

  • you look like Simon Pegg

hes in shaun of the dead

    here comes the fuzz

just google his name and ull see

  • Thank you,

    Be well,

    Piers

  • @travske Simon pegg was never in a film called here comes the fuzz, He was in a film called "Hot Fuzz" That i know.

  • You can feel peace emanating from you. Thank you for this video, it helped me get the right mind set to begin my meditation sessions.

  • Hi 16Jacob1616,

Thank you for your kind words,

    Be well,

    Piers

  • hello

it may be just me, but i am unable to hear this vid very well

  • Hi Falcon,

Sound is not great on this - I would suggest some of my other meditation videos for better sound.

    Be well,

    Piers

  • This is funny and it really happened the second I started breathing with my nose I farted .

  • Thank you very much for your lovely comment,

May you be well and filled with love,

    Piers

  • relaxing! i pray you find Yeshua and Get FILLED in the holy spirit!

  • Hi,

Wow what great news that it helped you to sleep. Sometimes I forget how good I sleep now due to meditation and the tools I teach.

When I have a night where I don't sleep much - this happens once a year probably, it really stands out.

No probs for the videos and glad you liked them,

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • Hey, thanks for your vids! Just wanted to say that it really helps with sleeping (as you said) :p I tried it yesterday and I have never slept as good as i did that night!

    Wonderful! Thanks again!

  • Hello, Thank you for posting this video, it's wonderful and very helpful, but if you would please answer this question. When u started meditating were u this calm? Where u stressed out? and how did this help? Thanks for the video and your time, Best wishes, Krock

  • Hello Krock,

    Thanks for your question.

No I wasn't this calm at all. I was an angry young man and had to learn through many difficult lessons - drink, drugs etc to wake myself up.

I am glad that I am waking up now and seeing that what we put out into the world e.g. how we treat others, what we say, and what we think comes back to us magnified.

Stresses still come up in my life but I now have lots of tools to cope with what I am feeling.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • Thank you so much for your time, and your video again! Very helpful, i will be sure to use this, and i may find peace in my life now. Thanks again, Krock

  • Hi Justin,

To be honest I am not so sure where you could find information which is not spiritually minded.

For me meditation is aside from religion as you don't have to follow a religion to practice it.

The best thing I would recommend is going to a bookstore and asking someone there.

I wish you well with your search,

    With kindness,

    Piers

  • Hi, Piers, My name is Justin. Thank you very much for your kindness & instruction. Obviously, a lot of people really appreciate both, as do I! I liked your video here & would like to ask if you know where one might listen to longer, similar instruction that does not relate to spiritual or other such knowledge but that just focuses on the basic mechanics of the mind & thought & guides one in how to 'release' oneself from them & gain control of a more powerful attention? Thank you again!

  • Hi,

Don't worry about clearing the mind completely. Meditation is like watching clouds pass across a sky. The clouds just simply pass in front of your eyes and you don't turn your head to follow them across the sky. The same happens with meditation when you have thoughts (e.g.I'd like to eat..) allow them pass and don't follow them (e.g.what could I eat, where could I eat, with whom etc...). If that happens that is fine, just come back to your breath or meditation object.

    Hope this helps,

    P

  • Simple yet profound. Quieting the mind. Thank you.

  • I have ADD and high blood pressure. I no longer take medication for ADD. I heard that

meditation is very helpful for ADD. I found your video very helpful in learning how to meditate. Thank you I will share my progress over the next few weeks.

  • Good luck and I look forward to hearing your progress.

    Piers

  • when you meditate with your eyes open you'll get distracted way to easy

  • Hi,

Thanks for your comment. I was taught to meditate with my eyes open by my meditation teacher who had practiced meditation for 30 years. I personally prefer now to meditate with my eyes closed but at that time needed to meditate with my eyes open.

I personally do not think that either one way is right or wrong but many people find it easier to focus on an object with their eyes open when they are learning meditation. I think both ways work.

    Thanks for your comments,

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • you can't meditate with your eyes open because your eyes are the door way to the mind

  • Omg i did it....but when i goo deep in me im starting to scar what will hapan next and i weak up...shuld i have fear from something ?? can somthing heppen to me ???

  • Hi there,

I struggled with meditation with lots of fear and worry to start off with. I saw some really worrying things but spoke with an ex Buddhist monk. He said to not worry about it. It took me a while to do but I succeeded. What I would recommend to you is meditate with your eyes open. There is nothing you should be frightened of. Keep breathing with whatever comes up. And if it gets too much then stop.

Have a break, a week or so and start again.

    You are doing really well,

    Piers

  • i last commented about 2 months ago maybe, anyway, im still 'practicing' if u call it that. My eyes go really twitchy after about 1 min still tho.

Great vid the only meditation 1 i watch

  • Hi there,

Great that you are still going. Keep it up and don't worry about the eyes. Eventually that will drop away or you just won't realise that you are doing it anymore.

    Good luck,

    Piers

  • Hello! Good video. Question: Do you know how long it takes to learn meditation?

  • Hello there,

Thank you for your kind words. It takes 5 minutes to learn meditation but a lifetime (or many) to master. You start to gain the benefits after a few days, but with perseverance the benefits are truly wonderful. Keep going,

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • could u do this when u lay down

  • Of course,

I have found that I fall asleep when I am lying down so this is why I sit up, but you must try out different ways and use the most comfortable to you.

Wishing you well and wonderful meditation,

    Piers

  • Wow Your voice is so relaxing and calming, its a grea way to introduce the peace and relaxation one gets from meditation

  • Thank you very much for your kind comments, may you be well, may the peace and tranquility that exists in every moment be yours to savour.

    With kindness,

    Piers

  • Very interesting, thank you!

At 07m28sec, you have feared the camera. Free you fears... (Sorry, I'm so analytic)

    Continue your great videos!

  • Hi Danny,

This was the first video I ever made so I was probably feeling the fear. I didn't prepare anything so the fear was probably me not knowing what to say next!

    Thanks for your comment,

    Piers

  • why do u speak u so slowly?

  • What's the hurry, mahyaralireza?

  • I speak slowly because the idea of the meditation is to slow the mind down. By speaking slowly the mind settle and the meditation is easier.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • thanks you so much........i am new to meditation...but i really enjoy your videos......

  • stupid question (but i had to ask) can this trigger your 3rd eye (if you believe in that stuff)

  • Sure, eventually with lots of practice and patience you can open your third eye. But it is not something I teach as I have always been taught simplicity and believe that when we get attached to the "amazing" we can get lost.

So keep it simple, keep breathing and keep meditating,

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • i dont want to open it =) so ur tips wont open it??

  • lol

  • the use of prayer works for that as well as what ive found.

  • bro quit watching videos and commenting if you think prayer is so much better than meditation. People on this spiritual path only exhibit patience for your kind because acceptance and a open mind are keys to real spirituality.

You should go pray for your religion to not go extinct over the next century.

  • well, like i have stated before, i have been as open as ever, which for 9 months now lead to my conformality.

i must encourage so that does not happen, because the day that goes extinct will also be the day different times will be experienced.

might i also add that while we need to remain open to whatever comes our direction, there comes a point where we must decide what to accept and what to deny. if there is no filter, then there is no direction, and no constant communication.

  • Hi Evan,

I agree that prayer works as well. I have found that most spiritual paths lead to the same place. We just have different names and terms for it.

May you continue to grow towards the light,

    Piers

  • Hi,

My tips are not designed to open it. My meditation is designed to relax and calm the mind.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • free tibet 2008

  • I easily let my mind wonder and I imagined walking down a cannel I am easily distracted as aperson and find it easier to think than to swicth off

  • Very helpful video. Your voice is very calm to listen to.

  • Well done. Thank you. You should post more, please.

  • Thank you.

I like your name, Jhana1980. One of the Buddhist teachers I have studied is very fond of the jhanas. He is called Ajahn Brahm (Brahmavamso). If you haven't already heard of him, he is a great teacher.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • A+

PS. You can attract anything, imho.

  • hi, well I got accustomed to taking really deep breaths trough the mouth; first in the abdomen and lengthen the duration by breathing up to the chest (or that's what it feels like2me) and that's really calming but now it seems i get easily irritated when breathing trough the nose (of course, only meditation-wise): i feel discomfort and lack of air.

i suppose it's not normal, but as long as i can breath trough the mouth i have the feeling i'm better off.

am i getting into a bad habit?

    thx:)

  • Hi Mike,

You're not getting into a bad habit. You can follow whatever meditation object you want. What I would say is that eventually if you persevere with breathing through the nose your irritation will dissolve. This irritation will probably also dissolve in other areas of your life - less likely to rise to anger, have more "space" to think.

Be comfortable and kind and you can't go wrong. If it feels good through the mouth, go with that but don't force it - relaxed breaths.

    All the best, PC

  • thx 4 the advice, i'll put it to good use.

since i'm from romania (done some volunteer work there?) , mike is a name 4 the account.

i'm vlad, so nice to meet you piers, and best wishes to you too.

  • Hello Vlad,

I spent a week delivering presents to Zalou in the North West Romania a few years ago. I also got to dress up as father christmas so I know the Romanian word Mos Krachun (Father Xmas) off by heart as had to repeat it a lot!

    Good luck with the meditation,

    All the best

    Piers

  • I have a question, I saw this video like a week ago, and your advice has been working pretty well on me, thanks for that first, and my question is: I think we all experience a lot of different sensations while meditating, is it ok to choose ANY of these, like for example I close my eyes but there is weird images in my brain where I can see the air passing through my lungs, I mean, can I concentrate on that? may you be well too sir.

  • Hello my friend,

Whatever meditation object you find easiest to focus on go with that. Yours sounds great so keep going. You might find after a little while that it is harder to focus on this meditation object. Then you might need to change.

I changed meditation objects a lot when I first started but have been using the same one for 4 years now. Be kind, be gentle and above all keep meditating. Sounds like you're doing great.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • You can even meditate laying down, but once your chakras start engaging like gears and spinning really fast, don´t get afraid, you´ll see yourself out of your body and from then on, you won´t be the same. I think he forgot to tell you that.

  • Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the comment.

I do not mention about the chakras because very few people are able to experience that. Having had some really intense experiences myself I do not recommend people to try and attain these states. If they come, they come but I don't recommend people to go looking for them. The meditation teacher I lived with always liked us to keep it really simple - I didn't do that once and really regretted it.

I didn't mention it because it is best to keep it simple.

    Be well, P

  • This videos great thanks

  • What a lovely video, thank you for this. I find the discipline of doing it the hardest, the ego seems to find ways of keeping me busy.

Would doing 20 mins at night be sufficient? or should one always meditate in the morning.

    Regards,

    John

  • Hi John,

    Thanks for your email.

The best way to deal with the discipline is getting into a routine. I find doing it in the morning the best time for that because you can get up 10-20 minutes earlier.

But saying that I always meditate before going to bed so 20 minutes would be tremendous.

One way to overcome the discipline is to really encode how wonderful it makes you feel to meditate - the calm mind etc. Close your eyes and feel it now. By doing this you body will want to do it!

    Good luck, PC

  • I originally was looking up yoga to help with mixed martial arts, but this was linked to a video. It has a lot of great information in it due to your experience. A college teacher of mine had us practice during class, but due to daily stress I sadly stopped. Your video added more depth and strategy. I plan to start again, and continue daily. Thanks

  • Many thanks for your kind words and so glad that the universe guided you here.

Meditation is such an amazing thing. When we get "lost" in the mind we stop meditating but it is the one thing to help us settle the mind!

Keep being kind, keep feeling the joy within your being and keep breathing, deep nourishing breaths.

I do a lot of qigong and martial arts and find that meditation is essential to my martial arts. It is the life blood of my practise.

May you be well my friend

    Piers

  • Hi.

Great video - going to try it out before I go to sleep. Any advice on Transcendental Meditiation?

    Thanks, Mark.

  • Hi,

I haven't tried out Transcendental Meditation. Having lived in a monastery I met quite a few people who had studied this.

I have a feeling this it is quite expensive to learn - in order to get the mantra.

Go with your heart. What does it say it wants to learn? Go with that.

In my opinion meditation is simple to learn but what helps is having patience, perserverance and support. If being in a TM group helps, do it.

    Try it out and see,

    May you find your path,

    Piers

  • Thank you for the video.

  • Hi there,

It's not easy to start off with. It took me quite a while to pick it up. The trick is patience and perseverance.

Get into a routine of doing it each day. You will start to notice the difference. It is challenging but then sometimes the things which benefit us the most challenge us the most!

    Good luck and keep going...

    With kindness,

    Piers

  • hmmm... I`ve tried doin it like this... but its so hard!

Cant even focus, but people say it takes time bein good at it...

  • your voice is so soothing, i almost fell asleep listening to it, you should be a hypnotherapist.

  • Hi there,

Thank you very much my friend. I have been working as a nanny the last 6 months and make up stories for the kids before bed. They usually fall asleep too!

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • I cant hear a word your saying!

  • Hi,

The sound level is not really high. What I am saying is to find a quiet space, make sure you are not disturbed for 10 minutes and watch your in breath and out breath.

Whenever your mind is distracted come back to your breath with kindness. Watch your body breathing.

I hope that this helps and I will look at trying to improve the quality of the sound.

    May you be well,

    Piers

  • good video

  • awesome video

  • Hi Megamike,

Thanks for your lovely comment and hope your meditation practise is going well.

    With kindness,

    Piers

  • great video yeah!;)

But please talk a bit louder.. I almost did`nt hear you:l

  • Hi there,

Thanks for your kind words. I recorded the video as a bit of a try out. I am not much of a techie but glad you got something out of it. Good luck with your meditation.

    Best wishes,

    Piers

  • thanks a lot for the guide or what u would call it :)

  • amazing video....I have never been interested in meditation but this video was extremely informative and easy to follow. Thanks again for this wonderful video Piers.

  • Great stuff, Thank you for the feedback and I wish you well with your meditation. With kindness, Piers

  • do u get any out of body experiences?

  • Hi,

I have had mystical experiences with meditation but not out of body.

My teacher always taught us to stay rooted in the body. And although there can be some amazing experiences with meditation it is always important to let go of these.

If we hold on to achieving 'bliss' all the time, we only attain a lot of pain. Keep your meditation practise simple and you will reap the benefits.

    Good luck,

    Piers

  • Thank you for this great video Piers.

  • Thank you for this instruction. As far as I am aware this is the only instructional video of this type I've found on you tube. I have done meditation on and off for a few years and even now I still need to go back to the beginning to remind myself why meditation is important. This video is great for that ! Thanks again.

  • Hi, Thank you ever so for the comment. It is really lovely to hear that you have benefited from the video. For me, meditation is being kind to ourselves and so often in life we give ourselves a hard time. Meditation is a great way of starting the stream of kindness. Be well, Piers.
