I thought we talk gymnastics, not ballet or music presentation..
Dudnik's beautiful execution scored a perfect 10 in the compulsories but this exercise, in comparison with Bontas,Boginskaya,Silivas, was not worth a 10. Of the same opinion were also at least 5 of the 6 judges, who gave it a 9.95.
This routine scored a 9.95, not enough for the medal. Silivas and Bontas had more difficult routine but Olesia got a perfect 10 in the compulsories (that is why she qualified in the EF over Laschenova). Does anyone have that video ?
@akimbohr I know that Silivas and Bontas had harder routines but each of these routines satisfies the code and this routine had no visible deductions while Silivas and Bontas had deductions. Im just glad that judges back then knew the difficulty of a routine..but really if they were going for clean gymnastics Dudnik should have gotten a 10 for being perfect in all the moves she presented.
i think these tumbling passes are fitting perfectly in this routine,
it is not always good to have a lot of difficulty, Aleftina priahkina and Tatiana groshkova both had to much Difficulty (thanks to elvrira saadi), because of that. they were not able to preform routines for a long piriod without falling or going out of bounds. I have a trainer now and the first thing i learned was that.
@MrJST94 It certainly isn't always good to have alot of difficulty such as in the cases you mentioned. However Dudnik had an incredible ability to tumble (her beam routine says it all) and it just surprises me of the standard difficulty of her floor routines. And no your english is fine.
Artistry and grace. Where have you both gone? You've left gymnastics and I know you're hiding somewhere. Perhaps once day you will return to women's gymnastics.
This 1989 Soviet team is by far the best ever. These girls were phenomenal.
I heard she wanted to do a double arabian front as her mount, but was injured here? Surprising that she would "water down" to a full-twisting double pike.
She will always be one of my favorite gymnasts of all time. What a phenomenal talent - such an excellent dancer. Is it true what I read that she now lives in Egypt?
I wonder why she picked there to live of all places? Not to knock Egypt, but it isn't exactly a growing gymnastics country nor is it a very modern country. You would have thought if she left RUssia, she would have gone to the US or another modern country. I wish someone knew her story and why she left...I think she has a facebook accunt...maybe someone will ask her.
@pappysprite well youve kinda got it wrong......i am egyptian and a member of the egyptian rhythmic gymnastics national team and to be honest we are growing in the world of gymnastics both rhythmic and artistic we won the last african championship in all catigories and we have all the spaces we can get in the Singapore youth olympics ..... i know Olessia personally she coaches at the club where i used to train and whatever the choice she had made well i'm sure she did what was best for her :)))
Had Olessia not erred on bars during the team competition, I truly believe that she would have made it to the all-around final and won the Gold medal. She was definitely a one-year/ one-hit wonder, but Olessia is one of my favorites of all time (next to Lyssenko, Laschenova, and Strazheva).
@adventuregirl76 I believe you were right when you posted this, but you have to agree that it has gotten better. I've definitely noticed the routines with less artistry getting lower scores.
@chrislindsey14 but the current system puts emphasis on certain moves to complete over innovation...so you get a lot of routines that barely make the cut...while this routine was difficult for the time and she wasn't rewarded for it. It is getting better but it will never have gymnast try some great things and in certain combinations if they can't get bonus. I believe that someone is doing A score vids on here of old routines to todays code and its crazy to see what would pass today.
@LCAmarkymark Yes you are right. I just hate how gymnastics was VERY subjective in the past. It seemed like the cool routines got the high scores, not the good routines..

With her tumbling ability her first pass should have/could have been a double double and her last pass a full-in.

maybe she loves the culture? some people choose to move to a place because of the culture or things other than the level of development.

Back when choreography and artistry still mattered. Neither are rewarded under the current COP.
