  • @usrnamedenied to rhyme with purple it would have to be cirple which isn't a word.

  • Whirlpool

  • @fortetheamazing pul and pool doesn't rhyme (you don't say purpool). It's close, but not enough to count as a full rhyme

  • circle

  • Wurmple and turtle.

  • wurmple

  • Myrtle

  • Last time I checked "circle" rhymes with "purple" quite nicely! :)

  • @Babyhowdy233 probably preaching to the choir here but that is in fact a half rhyme

  • @skootties

A word is technically considered to rhyme with another if either the first or last sylllable of each word in question follow the correct guidelines for such. The concept of "half rhymes" is a newer concept in English; it's like being "a little pregnant". Either two words rhyme or they don't.

  • @skootties

You are using the idiom "preaching to the choir" incorrectly here.

Preaching to the choir is an English idiom that means a person is trying to convince or persuade another person or group to believe in or agree with something that they already believe in or agree with.

  • @Babyhowdy233

Your analogy is incomplete; being pregnant is a biological phenomenon that actually is unarguably a binary condition, whereas the concept of a rhyme exists only within an abstract construct - language. Hence it's subject to interpretation.

And dismissing something because it is a "new concept" is a weak argument. Language itself could be called a "new concept" because it's an entirely invented phenomenon.

  • @Babyhowdy233

And yes, I was using the phrase incorrectly. I assumed people had already pointed out that circle is only a half rhyme, but I wasn't "preaching" to them, so to speak.

  • @Babyhowdy233 Nope.

  • @Babyhowdy233 ...no it doesn't cle and ple

  • whirlpool

    ^_^

  • Impressive, but what about orange?

  • @80katrillion Lozenge.

  • @80katrillion If you accept a two word rhyme: Door Hinge

  • @80katrillion in another QI episode, Blorenge, a mountain in wales

  • @80katrillion Sporange, it's short for sporangium. Also on topic, chilver rhymes with silver.

  • turtle -.-

  • Turtle rhyme with purple and circle

  • @zelldot That's assonance, not rhyme.

  • Scottsmen: Rhyming shit with purple for over 1000 years.

  • @thewildone

"You do realise you're on national television,"... Oh, I CANNOT WAIT TO GO TO THE UK!

  • Thumbs up if you were brought here by the fresh prince of Bel-Air

  • The Rabbie Burns poem Stephen quoted is: To Mrs. Scott of Wauchope

    (From Japan)

  • I epically creased when Alan said 'I think I said Hurple'.

  • What about turtle?

  • Alan said hurple twice!

  • Now try to find something that rhymes with "orange".

  • @spacecowboy5000 Door hinge. HA.

  • @icyclaw123 Not bad. Has to be one word, though. I've been looking for years. I want to finish my epic poem "Ode to the Orange". :(

  • @spacecowboy5000 Hinge is one word :D Binge is a consideration too ^^

  • @spacecowboy5000 QI have asked that question (you should be able to find it in the related videos). I remember the answer to be "Blorange" (I'm not sure about the spelling, but sounds like that), it should be a place in Wales. You can try to find the video "What Rhymes With Orange?- QI - BBC comedy panel show" to see it for youself. Already getting exited for the release of your poem.

    -TopHat

  • @spacecowboy5000 Why not use 'French'?

  • @TimMeijerDoctor That, sir, is a brilliant suggestion! And since I'm halh French I might already know a couple. Thanks, much appreciated.

  • @spacecowboy5000 I'm glad to have helped. I've been bothering with a rhyming word for 'Orange' so long, and one day it just popped into my head. I've used it ever since.

Good luck on 'Ode to the Orange'. I'd love to read it when you're done!

    Cheers,

    Tim Meijer

  • @TimMeijerDoctor BTW what's another word for "thesaurus"? :)

  • @spacecowboy5000 Synonimicon (Synonym + lexicon)

  • @TimMeijerDoctor Well, it was a joke... But that's awesome! Makes complete sense and it sounds cool. I wish you were my assistant editor.

  • @spacecowboy5000 Thank you very much, I appreciate it. Assistant editor? What for?

  • he said hurple at 0:07 and curple at 0:25

  • he did say hurple at 0:07

  • lmao

  • Sorry - so are you telling me no one's heard of a "purple nurple"?!

  • @pacmandem nurple isn't a word :') just urple with the n of nipple on the front

  • @blehface3000 *palmface*

Did you never go to school?

  • @pacmandem yes, I'm aware of what a purple nurple is, but nurple isn't a word

  • @blehface3000 There's really no point with you is there?

I know 'nurple' isn't a word; I was being silly.

  • @pacmandem well you get so many idiots on youtube, how am i supposed to tell whether your being serious

  • why can't we have these types of shows in the US?

  • @olivuh I thought you got BBC America?

  • @olivuh Panel comedy shows?

I thought you had that show with the guy on Fox who was an anchorman but got fired for screwing up?

  • @olivuh

Its on occasionally on BBC America, I saw it after The Graham Norton show a few weeks ago.

  • @olivuh Because americans are generally seen as fat and stupid, hence why you got stupid reality shows instead.

  • @olivuh because it would educate you

  • @olivuh because no US comedian is as funny as them.

  • @Desmonddd2002 because the US audience isn't smart enough to be entertained by it.

  • @grokent I take GREAT offense to that remark.

  • @Desmonddd2002 Except Rich Hall he's hilarious

  • @Desmonddd2002 no, there are a few really funny american comedians. Rich Hall is always on this program, and Reginald D Hunter is hilarious

  • @Desmonddd2002 what about the guys on the US version of 'Whose line is it Anyway?' they're awesome especially the black guy whose usually on it (don't know his name and no racism intended).

  • @OmNomNommingOnSouls Wayne would be his name.

  • @OmNomNommingOnSouls I think he's called Wayne Brady.

  • @Desmonddd2002 Except Rich Hall, perhaps.

  • @Desmonddd2002 Louis C.K., Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Bill Burr, Reg D. Hunter, Robin Williams, Stephen Colbert, Russell Peters, Bill Maher... NONE of them are funny?

  • @4Gottlos Robin Williams is funny, Russell Peters is Canadian and the rest on your list aren't funny at all

  • @sgtraytango Fuck you, Bill Hicks was amazing. I bet you don't even know who the rest are, kiddo.

  • @TheSlinkyGuyShow don't be such a stereotypical retarded American, course I have

Robin Williams is hilarious, Russell Peters had a live show I saw on tv last year talking about why there's a World Cup in soccer when not every country is involved, especially Canada and India, Reg D Hunter is a regular on British tv shows, everyone knows who Colbert is, Bill Maher works for FOX, Carlin is another unfunny guy like Hicks (and was in Bill & Ted movies) and Louis CK is a guy whose tv show sucked

  • @TheSlinkyGuyShow I admit I don't know who Bill Burr is but he's the only one I never heard of out of your list.

Hunter has his moments like Rich Hall but mostly they both aren't funny 97% of the time

Now back off and leave your lameness at the door when you check into youtube kthx

  • @Desmonddd2002 Rich Hall?

  • @Desmonddd2002 You probably don't even know any american comic ya fuck

  • @njdevil281 That's because american comedians are unfunny cunts

  • @Desmonddd2002 Rich Hall is American! Part Cherokee, born in Virginia, grew up in North Carolina. Can't get more 'mercan than that ;)

  • @LauraMcNaughton Wait, didn't he also live in New Orleans? Or grow up there or something?

  • @Desmonddd2002 George Carlin? Richard Pryor? Bill Hicks? Lenny Bruce? Dave Chappelle?

  • @olivuh If only George Carlin was still alive.

  • @olivuh YOU WILL WATCH JERSEY SHORE AND LOVE IT!

  • @olivuh because repartee requires intelligence

  • @olivuh because we have shitty reality shows like jersey shore, and 16 and pregnant

  • @marchovens

actually it doesnt! if you say them both you can tell

    ple is quick

  • whirlpool rymes with purple!
