I am Jewish and that is exactly what His views on forgiveness is................ He is ok to ask for forgiveness to Him with wrongs we did to ourselves but NOT with other people. for Him to be ok with it we have to ask the person wronged for forgiveness.
The concept of apologizing to god is IMO the same as feeling unconditional regret, and acknowledgement that one has done something more-or-less "objectively wrong" and the transgression committed goes beyond the injury committed to someone else. But one should still apologize to the person you kicked in the yarbles as well as to "god" :-)

Perhaps if it was a pantheistic sort of god, but if the god is supposed to be all-knowing, judging and with the intent to punish the "bad" with an eternity of torment, it seems to me more like pleading with a judge after the evidence has been presented.

and to answer ur question: The same reason why the KJV contains "force her" (Deut 22:25) vs. "lay hold" (22:28).
Also same reason NLT clearly contains "he rapes her" (22:25) vs. "has intercourse with a young woman" 22:28

No 2 Christians can even agree on the interpretations, not to mention the fact that the Bible is a 100% MAN-MADE invention gives most rational and sane people a clue that it was created to CONTROL OTHERS. @flashjones9053 -- Nothing is FLAWED about Science in the least, which is why we call it PROOF or Scientific LAWS, or the Laws of Physics. The REASON Science is never wrong is because the statements made in Science are based upon PROVEN EVIDENCE, which is the OPPOSITE of what statements and conjecture in the BIble or religion is based. In religion, people base their ideology upon FAITH or upon what they IMAGINE God's intentions. This is only part of the reason Scientists laugh at religion.

The concept of apologizing to god is IMO the same as feeling unconditional regret, and acknowledgement that one has done something more-or-less "objectively wrong" and the transgression committed goes beyond the injury committed to someone else. But one should still apologize to the person you kicked in the yarbles as well as to "god" :-)

@Anekantavad Would depend on the particular concept of god. Perhaps if it was a pantheistic sort of god, but if the god is supposed to be all-knowing, judging and with the intent to punish the "bad" with an eternity of torment, it seems to me more like pleading with a judge after the evidence has been presented.
